  1. What's more or less conducive to immersion is completely subjective.
  2. Why would they do that? Minsc has nothing whatever to do with this and he's one of the most annoying assclowns in any game ever.
  3. Stop using the word "immersion." Get a f***ing thesaurus or something f***.
  4. An ending is kind of like a game over so what's the difference? Honestly, though, who cares if the Infinity Engine game did or did not have this? It would add another interesting element to the game. I'd imagine most of the plot points would be fairly easy, but there would be other parts that would be harder so if you didn't read or pay attention enough or read some of the in game books you might fail and get a different ending.
  5. Traps please, but maybe there's a more interesting way to handle them. Maybe make them part of a larger puzzle, etc.
  6. Bethesda are really a bunch of a**holes.
  7. I had heard that, but thought it some gamer urban legend or something. F:NV is amazing, and it makes me sick knowing the reason for the layoffs is true. You thought what was an urban legend? The fact that they didn't get a bonus because of one metacritic point?
  8. Personally I don't like the BG2 portraits. especially compared to Icewind Dale ones. There are maybe one or two portraits in BG2 that are just barely passable....maybe that's an exaggeration but the Icewind Dale ones have a better style, atmosphere, and aesthetic.
  9. If you read Obsidian's comment on this on the kickstarter page, this is being blown way out of proportion.
  10. I didn't vote because I think they're trying something new and I hope they do.
  11. Firearms in a fantasy setting does not [necessarily] imply steampunk. That being said I'd really like to see at least 2 unique races.
  12. How sexy would it be to get Clint Mansell?
  13. I was actually going to make a topic about this earlier, but I never could get around to it. I want all of these, but they need to be made interesting. For example, crafting weapons shouldn't be "take on iron ingot and a couple of other materials and you get a sword of awesome." I want there to be rare parts and also the ability to take weapons apart and use pieces from one weapon and combine with another. Maybe a way to experiment with different alloys and a way to make your own alloys. I want alchemy too, but so much more can be done with this, I think. There needs to be a way to experiment and make your own potions with unique properties. The way this might be implemented is for each ingredient to have specific properties and if you wanted to be an alchemist you really would need to understand these properties. They wouldn't be like "damage health", they would be something like, "this ingredient is known by x people to have detrimental effects on one's health." etc.
  14. It's a fantasy world not connected to our own, its history can be completely different.
  15. My hope is that it'll be a bit more complex on the dialog side of things with multiple stats and circumstances affecting it.
  16. Agree Maybe there should be a separate group of stats for speech and dialogue related gameplay such as speech, charisma, diplomacy, street skills, etiquette, etc. a la Age of Decadence.
  17. I don't understand what's impossible about it. It's like you don't trust people to play the game how they want to play it. I don't think anyone's not going to play it the way they want to. If someone wants to adhere to a strict character sheet that they developed, they'll do that. If someone wants to pick whatever dialog choice they think will be most interesting, and not roleplay at all, they'll do that. Everyone's happy! And hell, the game could even have an optional setting to turn on only dialog choices of the types you want, so you can build your own custom restrictive personality that the game knows! The set of possibilities is so much bigger when you don't force restrictive systems on people! What you end up with something like that is a very shallow experience overall and really an excuse for a game.
  18. Well it would all depend on what type of character you have made. If done right it would be incorporated into the rest of the game rather seamlessly I think. The most basic example I can give for what I'm trying to get at would be that climbing the ranks of some guild is never guaranteed. It doesn't have the force of narrative behind, rather it depends on your choices and your characters' skills and abilities to do so. It would be a game in and of itself of sorts.
  19. Ugh, you can define your character but the game world should react accordingly. It shouldn't be you can do whatever whenever.
  20. The game system should be both open and limited. You shouldn't have to dictate every aspect of your character. The game world should "react" to your character and the options available to your character should reflect what skills you have. That doesn't mean you can't play how you want, you just have to be more forward thinking I think.
  21. I voted b,a. Although I think the second question I would respond a combination of the first two options.
  22. That's not true at all. also, "Zooming in and out is a must" couldn't take it too seriously after that.
