Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well it's not an R rated forum but we can get a little PG-13 here. Just never mention the author of Man in the High Castle. It is forbidden.

Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, not married to any particular name. But I think there should be a consistency with the game world. And the generic Pirates, Corsairs, Mauraders, Buccaneers, etc., sound too sports teamish. It's an M rated game. Can we get a little more vulgar, maybe?

Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Is the Obsidian Order of Eternity an actual community in Eora? (as far as we know~) Yes. Technically it is canon. Didn't you get your Obsidian Order cloak?

Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)What's the Obsidian Ocean? If referencing a geographical entity, there should be an actual consistency to the game world. A Black Isle reference - as was previously suggested, could also work.

Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The Vailians and Rauatai have the largest naval presence in the archipelago. I suggest going Vailian which has more Latin roots. I posted earlier my suggestion for Ordo Obsidianus - in keeping with the original Obsidian Order. Why explicitly advertise the group's criminality with pirate names?

The watercolor-style portraits
Leferd replied to Niggey's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I am positively in favor of these watercolors. It makes the base game much nicer according to their own artistic aesthetics. Not Obsidian's problem If folks want to use their own custom portraits and aren't happy with the clash in styles.

I will be backing ...but
Leferd replied to neutral22's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Obsidian (Feargus) purposely didn't send out an email through Kickstarter because presumably he thought previous backers would have gotten the notification email from Obsidian already. He may have been mistaken.

Stretch goal discussion!
Leferd replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Nah, the pledging curve is about normal. This was the original distribution from 2012. Actually, Kickstarter drew 73K. Thanks for the graph! Let's hope the closure will have a great spike!. Can't wait. Edit Actually what i'm stressing here is not the amount. Is the amount of backers. Average per backer is very high for the amount. What's actually important for a crowd funding campaign is the amount of backers IMO. So right now it's just 17K (not even 17K yet at this point of the post) vs 73K backers. The amount of interest for a game should > the amount of money pledged per backer. Yes, Deadfire is way off the pace on the number of backers compared to PE. I haven't seen nearly as much media coverage this time around.

The watercolor-style portraits
Leferd replied to Niggey's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The player character and companions will have their own watercolor style portraits that will be utilized in this UI. We all agree it looked very odd to have the fully painted portraits alongside the NPC portraits. I seriously dislike this. It's like BG1 -> BG2 all over again. I prefer portraits from BG1 more than BG2. Mike Sass made the portraits for The BG series. He went away from the BG1 style because they were actually modeled by Bioware employees. The internet was mean and made fun of their looks. So he changed them up for BG2. Improvements in my opinion. But the IWD/IWD2 portraits by Jason Manley and Justin Sweet are the gold standard.

Leferd replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Actually, that brings up a good point. You name the ship, not the band. Why not keep the original group name? Maybe Latinize (Valianize?) it? Ordo Obsidianus.
