  1. Nah, the pledging curve is about normal. This was the original distribution from 2012. Actually, Kickstarter drew 73K.
  2. Now, if we can only get some watercolored in-game maps.
  3. Actually, that brings up a good point. You name the ship, not the band. Why not keep the original group name? Maybe Latinize (Valianize?) it? Ordo Obsidianus.
  4. Marauders doesn't sound intimidating or scary enough. The Archipelagian Sissies.
  5. Can the ship be a galley? So we can have chained non-combatant slave rowers in the background? Previous victims of the maurading band.
  6. And like clockwork, there's always going to be some drama over hurt feelings on the forums regarding fan contributions during the development of 2D isometric crpgs. In the traditions of Lanfear, dlux, Sensuki, etc.,... Anyways, I agree with Gromnir and Fluffle - we need to know what the parameters are. We've also got some really solid and creative writers here. Take advantage of that when and if we have something to present to Obsidian.
  7. Do you have any idea of what kind of split of sales are the investors actually getting? I mean, it's really cool and all that Obsidian is getting cash left and right here, but 'Investing' to me suggests that, long-term, these people will expect to see all their invested money back and then some. Am I getting this right or is 'Investment' on fig not really one? And how will it influence future Obsidian's cash flow? https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire/invest Security: Fig Game Shares – Pillars of Eternity 2 Game: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Price Per Share: $1,000 Maximum Amount of Offering: $2,000,000 Use of Proceeds: Fig's general working capital, including funding the development of the various games Fig publishes Revenue Sharing Terms a) Fig’s revenue share % will calculated as: the Fig Funds divided by $14 million, until 1.13x the Fig Funds is returned; b) after that, the % will equal the Fig Funds divided by $28 million. c) Fig will earn a revenue share only on PC sales (all storefronts; Windows, Linux, Mac). d) Anticipated release is Q1 2018.
  8. They may need some assistance overseas for distribution purposes but If Obsidian can become more independent and self-sustaining in their projects, I'm all for it.
  9. I suspect they'll be better with planning and scheduling this time around.
  10. Yeah, this may not go over so well. Will people have learned since 2000?
  11. Fig Funds is the wild card. In terms of pure backers, they're still currently only at $897,138 with 15,511 backers, which is well off the pace of Project Eternity.
  12. That's pretty good. Although technically, it would have to be a galley. Maybe also have a ships rolls in the Captain's cabin.
  13. your idea, sorta. am nominating you to take the lead. trustworthy enough fellow. perhaps guarantee you a spot as "leferd the cabin boy"? HA! Good Fun! Thanks, Grom, but a bad idea in so many ways. Aye, Cap'n. Cabin Boy's Mate Leferd reporting. ... Or as an alternative, maybe we can work something out with Obsidian to see if they can add a specific add-on option in FIG for our little pirate enterprise. Anyone who wants to join the crew can just purchase this add on. There should be a way for Obsidian to track how many of these specific add-ons have been purchased, to determine if the $5,000 threshold was reached. Of course, this would be extra work on their end...but hey, they've got marketing and community managers now, right?
  14. The thing is, a few other RPG forum communities were mostly the ones who banded together to grab the inn rewards for Project Eternity. So there's certainly plenty of precedence. Just not here.
  15. You know, I was actually doing the math. There were 705 original members of the Obsidian Order from the first game. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64752-the-obsidian-order-of-eternity-part-7/ 705 x $8 = $5,640. Actually, only need $5,000.
  16. Start with making mods or using the NWN toolset to create your own module. Or take Chris Avellone's advice: http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/1/entry-157-some-additional-narrative-designer-advice/ http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/1/entry-31-writing-in-computer-games/
  17. There's also the problem of actually adding the $8. There doesn't currently seem to be a way to unilaterally add any funds to your pledge on FIG. I suppose you could get Obsidian to add an Obsidian Order add-on option as an Extra.
  18. am not sure who is authoring these orders, but they is a mess. somebody in the wh thought an overt muslim ban would be illegal but seemed to forget how a christian preference would be equal problematic? trump coulda' saved himself a whole lotta future headaches by getting input from a few o' the numerous and competent lawyers he gots at his disposal as head o' the executive branch. if we were a conspiracy nut, we might suggest trump were purpose penning terrible drafted orders. if such orders get killed by Courts or functional invalidated by Congress, then trump can blame his failure on lack o' government cooperation. if these orders were to stand, then when they failed to achieve goals, who would trump blame? too complex. is simple ignorance on the part o' the folks in the wh. ... but which is worse: ignorance or contrivance? HA! Good Fun! Several WH reporters are saying it's Bannon and Miller who are spearheading these efforts.
