  1. My problem with the Nolan Batman movies is Christian Bale wasn't a very good Batman. He has a narrow chin that makes him look terrible in the mask, and his Batman voice just sounds like he has a cold. After seeing Equilibrium I figured he'd be a great Batman, I was wrong. Also, Batman is borderline obsessed with "The Mission", so having him quit so easily... twice... bugged me.
  2. King's response when asked if he got the idea from the Simpsons movie(since the book was published like 3 years later) was something like he had been writing the book since the 80s and just hadn't been able to get it the way he wanted until recently. You mean until someone already did it? I can't have been the only person to start yelling "EPA! EPA! EEEEPA!" when the girl collapsed and started spouting prophetic lines.
  3. Those guys sure like Admiral Ackbar. I always hear them chanting his name.
  4. This is the End - Hilarious if you're into crude humor. Danny McBride was great. Skyfall - Not as good as Casino Royale, and constantly talking about James being old 3 movies in isn't my idea of a good idea. Otherwise a solid film. Bourne Legacy - Anticlimactic ending, but was done well enough that it didn't seem like it was only made to try to cash in on the bourne franchise. Slammin Salmon - If you liked Beerfest or Super Troopers, its not as funny, but worth a watch.
  5. It takes place on another continent I believe, just a few years earlier because Georg from Suikoden 2 is a major character. So there really isn't a lot of connection between 5 and the first 3 aside from the odd character crossover.
  6. EU3 is a little simpler than CK2, but much grander in scale. The version on steam includes all the expansions so its a much deeper game than when it was first released though. Eu3 is often recommended to people just starting with Paradox strategy games. That doesn't mean its easy though.
  7. The first episode isn't really representative of the show. The dynamic between characters isnt really properly established until Olivia starts getting over her fiance. Like halfway through season 1. Get that far and it was one of the best shows on TV.
  8. Give 5 a shot. Its almost as good as 2. 4 you can skip though. Dragon Quarter turned me off because it didn't feel like a Breath of Fire game. Didnt like any of the mechanics or the tone. Though really 4 was pushing it too. At this point I would just like a remake of 2 with a better translation and updated graphics.
  9. Oz: The Great and Powerful. They could have done a lot better than James Franco, and while Mila Kunis is perfect as Theodora the Good, [spoilerS]once she becomes the witch of the west she is badly miscast.[/spoilerS] Overall I enjoyed it a lot. Some of the obvious scenes jammed in for 3d felt out of place in 2d, but the design work was well done, and the nods to the classic film fit perfectly. I particularly liked the china doll character. Her effects work was excellent and her voice actor did a fantastic job.
  10. I'm assuming the summer sale will have it for 75% off as usual, so I'm planning on grabbing it then along with Heart of Darkness for Vicky 2. Unless Vicky 2 is a daily deal for the Paradox weekend this weekend, in that case I'll grab HoD then.
  11. Hadn't even heard of it until now. Sadly the only JRPG franchise I'd be looking forward to a new installment of is Suikoden. Maybe Breath of Fire, but they pretty much killed that with Dragon Quarter.
  12. Watched a documentary called Robert Mugabe... What Happened? I enjoyed it a lot, very interesting and I thought it portrayed him in a pretty balanced light considering the mixed opinions of him.
  13. I think rather than every major publisher having their own, if it got to that level they would get together and establish an online mall type of thing. One account, several different stores.
  14. I'm like 4/5ths through Dance of Dragons. I don't know if the Recluce books trained me to enjoy the slow stuff, but I am enjoying it. Some good moments with Daenerys, Tyrion being punished more, Jon doing his best to make the Nights Watch stronger than it has been in hundreds of years despite everyone in any sort of position of power within the order trying to stop him because Wildlings. I don't get the Theon love that I've been hearing though. As for the following seasons of GoT being meh due to Feast and Dance, my guess is they will condense it a bit, plus considering they take place concurrently, the lack of Jon and Tyrion etc. in Feast won't be as apparent. They'll have to condense it because they have said they are making the show 7 seasons, and if Storm of Swords is getting split into 2 seasons, then they continue with one season per book, they'll have to merge the last two books(once they're written) into a single season. And no one will like that.
  15. Wasn't it the rebels using Sarin? At least that's what the UN was saying And honestly, I don't see what the big difference is between killing people with chemical weapons and causing repiratory problems and birth defects in survivors, and blowing people the hell up and leaving survivors with missing limbs and shrapnel and such. End result of both is dead and mangled people. Its not like the rebels are any better than the governmemt at this point either. At least the government isn't cutting out the hearts of prisoners and eating them.
  16. I couldn't tell if that was a prequel or a sequel
  17. I know you said high profile games, but do you think the recent trend of Kickstarter games being released DRM free on GoG will change this? No, because the majority of them are also on steam.
  18. As I understand he isn't heavily involved in the show. He interviewed the people who asked him if they could do the show, decided that he felt they'd do a good job and has been letting them do their show, while contributing one episode per season. He's involved enough that he made them change Robb's wife's name because he didn't like the changes they made to her character. Though not involved enough that he could make them change her character back.
  19. I think its only 10 bucks on XBL, that's how I got it. Needs 6 gigs of HD space though, and they mean HD space. Got a free 4GB Xbox with my phone plugged in a 16 gig memory stick thinking I could play it off that. Nope.
  20. I happen to agree with you (Mamoulian's post was shorter when I replied) but Microsoft are taking away the standard practice for consumers to be able to share their games with their friends, an option which has been available to people for decades. We own our games a little bit less now because we're more limited with what we can do with them. Microsoft have every right to do that and it's in the best interest of their shareholders but that's little comfort to us and is the other side of the argument. One of the reasons there wasn't such a backlash when PC games switched over to being bound to accounts and machines (but there was one) is because steam and digital sales took everyone by surprise with just how widespread they would become and it happened relativly slowly. Also PC games were effectivly being phased out by retail in favour of the much more profitable console games so digital, bound-only-to-you sales were helping people have access to games rather than limiting them. It's also widely accepted that digital sales can't be allowed to be shared out or swapped or sold 2nd hand otherwise the publishers would literally go out of business. That practice transitioning to physical discs happened slowly, as I recall people were unhappy about it when it was first introduced but we grudgingly accepted it and today most people, myself included, don't care. I imagine it will be a rougher transition for consoles because they're trying to do it all at once, and again, being able to swap and lend out games and rent them from local shops is a decades old practice, people are going to miss that when it's gone (and for good reason) but they will eventually get over it. It still sucks though. I think the main reason there isn't such a backlash over digtal sales being bound is that after sometimes less than a month you can get games on steam and such for 75% off. that's unheard of in the console market. Just looking at the Moneysaver on Kotaku, you'll have $50 pc games on for 15-20 dollars, or $30 games on for $5, but the biggest console sales are $60 games on for $45-50.
  21. There's gong to be a Fable 4? May have jumped the gun. There was an image showing a bunch of the games supposedly to be announced for Xbone and about half in the image have been announced since it leaked. Fable 4 wsas one of them.
  22. I really liked Jade Empire. It was much better on console I found though. I've been hoping for a sequel for some time
  23. Any word on if Fable 4 is coming to PC? that's really the only Xbone exclusive I'm interested in.
