  1. So many words to express the same sentiment. In further comedy, apparently FO4's presentation was offensive - https://archive.is/bYe1H This comment summarizes my view on the topic " While the dress sequence, for the moment, was meant for shock value, I’m not sure Bethesda’s intention was to be transphobic. They come from a very limited scope, but it’s also necessary to think about the fact that the story takes place in an alternate- 1950’s: a glimpse of what persons of that period imagined the future to be. Although homosexuality did exist in the 1950’s, in no way was it accepted, and thus it wouldn’t be a huge part in *their* future. Other than the opening sequence of this Fallout game, there hasn’t been much of an emphasis on relationships as a whole: it’s about survival, ultimately, as one’s individual person with your dog. As someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, and is a huge trans activist, the sequence as a whole was meant to capture the absurd. I don’t think Bethesda would have ever meant it as a personal attack "
  2. Only if you believe in fatalism as a valid human condition, I have books on WW1 where soldiers in the trenches were understandably fatalists. One of the most famous German soldiers Ruldolf Binding wrote a book called " A Fatalist at War " which describes his experiences during the war as a fatalist
  3. Chilloutman I hope this game delivers on the entertainment factor , if not I am holding you and your fellow countrymen personally responsible when I demand my refund !!! Ok, I can live with that I respect people who are prepared to stand by there countries products and services, you are not making excuses for shoddy workmanship. Well played
  4. So do you think the solution is just to not vote at all?
  5. Chilloutman I hope this game delivers on the entertainment factor , if not I am holding you and your fellow countrymen personally responsible when I demand my refund !!!
  6. She is right, I wish her positive attitude around the responsibility of a persons vote was shared with more people
  7. Isn't this basically what the previous generation always says about the next one? Yeah they do, the good news is we don't have to make excuses for historical inaction or views We can just focus on the current issues and the way forward irrespective of the past. So what I typically do is think " what is the best solution to address issue x " ...remember we are more informed and knowledgeable than any previous generation...so lets use it constructively
  8. That's what we keep trying to tell you. All a matter of perspective, Bruce. Barti I have been part of the solution from day 1
  9. And this is why we're all doomed. Or you fight with the same fight, just switching the platform. The power of memes is stronger than you think. Meshugger it will be a completely counter-productive exercise if you think being obstructive to changes in the gaming industry will achieve anything? Also to say "people only know the Internet " as a justification to this resistance around debates on progressive changes also doesn't make sense to me. People should learn that RL discussions around inclusivity are same as Internet\forum discussions on these topics. The "big picture end game result " still applies And as I keep mentioning, become part of the solution....not the problem
  10. I wouldn't say Games/Gaming need to grow up I would rather say that some gamers need to take a more reasonable and constructive view around general suggestions to make the gaming industry more progressive and inclusive
  11. I am. He's the only one who's not a corporate sell-out. Interesting, so Trump will have his valid suporters The Republican nomination is going to be interesting. WOD you should work on convincing Hurlshot to vote Trump, if you can convince the Californian liberals to vote for him then the battle is basically won.
  12. You can be as insulted as you want, your feelings have no impact on the validity of the critique. Offer me a counterpoint and I'll consider your opinion, from a discussion standpoint I couldn't really care less about how what I say makes you feel. Especially not if my critique is "you could do better, but if not I'm ok with that". Oh I'm not insulted at all as I use Mods extensively. My question was how others would feel
  13. The crucial word being absolutist, which is not exclusive to Marxist doctrines by any stretch at all, not exclusive to Marx and most certainly not invented by him. Might as well say that it's Cultural Randism because of the absolutist producer/ parasite type labels she applied to people, or Cultural Torquemadism, or Cultural Fascism. Absolutist theory is completely left/ right agnostic, rightists just like using Cultural Marxism as to them anything left = bad, because it jerks knees or because they're lazy. The phenomenon labelled 'Cultural Marxism' does exist though, it's just that the label name itself is inaccurate propaganda, at best. Its a pity the USSR collapsed hey Zora? That would have been an effective balancing act to the West, oh well at least you have your museums and once a year public holidays around "Workers Day "
  14. That said - I don't mean it as an insult, I enjoy their games.. But I think it's a fair point of critique. You don't think that statement could be seen as arrogant considering how many thousands of people use consoles and don't Mod there Bethesda games and yet love the games with a passion?
  15. It's not hyperbole at all. When social conservatives want violence, sexual content, or insults to Christianity removed or toned down because it insults their feelings, they are demanding a form of political correctness. There's a joke here about "ban bossy" I'm too charitable to make. Okay what type of PC are you referring to? I thought we were discussing PC around gaming related things like this forum?
  16. Oh no Volo....you are not a drama queen...you more like a drama empress, my gay friends would really enjoy company
  17. You may be right but without real purpose and meaningful strategy they will just be a vociferous and annoying movement that wont implement real change You can't stop PC guys, its best just to work within the system Yes you can, just like Communism eventually bent and traded ideology for the more practical aspects of capitalism and how Capitalism has become more socialized so too will the PC eventually be sanitized. The political correctness crowd want to have a monopoly on what correct means, eventually they will meet with the same thing that caused other systems to change: the public. You guys and your hyperbole....PC is not an ideology, no need to compare it to proper global beliefs like Communism It behaves like one and seems to take a lot cues from Marxism supplanting class with race; after all the people making this PC stuff up don't want people realizing that they privileged white kids. If we're talking about Marxism as in what Marx wrote, that isn't really the case. If it did, PC would be advocating an overthrow of the oppressors followed by dictatorship of the previously exploited which would lead to a raceless society. PC is more akin to Puritanical standards of social interaction, in that it's less about making radical changes to a system and more about presentation of ideas and standards of social interaction. That's not a bad definition but can you also tone down the hyperbole ... " Puritanical standards of social interaction " you guys are real drama queens Its actually very easy to be PC ...just apply yourself

  19. I watched The Changeling again....if you haven't seen it I strongly suggest you watch it. Its based on a true story and stars Angelina Jolie and its all about how her son goes missing in the 1920's...there are many things I loved about it but it highlights just how intense and rampant sexism was and how women use to be dismissed...but don't think its about SJ issues. Its not

  21. He is already getting that. Bernie will be portrayed as a kooky old man with ideas that aren't well thought out(ie outside of the "acceptable" range for mainstream US politics) and referred to as "not serious" every time is brought up. At debates, his answers will differ wildly from the canned responses by the rest of the field and he will drop some heavy truth bombs. Trump is more inline with your thinking than mine Bruce. Yes I like some of his corporate policies, you right KP but he is far too focused on the side of big business....I do believe in a degree of corporate responsibility and empathy towards people from disadvantaged backgrounds
  22. No one in their right minds, let alone anyone here will back The Donald. I know boys, I was just joking Who would support? Right wing Republicans?
  23. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/16/politics/donald-trump-2016-announcement-elections/index.html I see Donald Trump is running, who will be supporting him? I imagine KP and GD....maybe Hurlshot ?
  24. Dude I'm going to be honest...I have NO idea what you saying but I'm very stoned so it might just be me It was explained in my prior comment. When you are a victim of hate, you feel what can be considered 'bad feelings', sometimes that divulge into depression and such - rather than allowing it to lead into depression through your own malfunction, you should treat these feelings as a comforting nature, or try to rise above it somehow. Metaphorically, if you are hot-headed, you seek coldness - in some scenarios more heat, but if you're simply trying to find comfort then the alternative is water ( when thought of, and related to, feels more comfortable and is a literal opposite of fire ). All I'm saying is rather than taking hate for something bad, understand it as something natural, flexible and a feat that can be conquered. That's clever, I like it
  25. Well that is a huge relief ...but it doens't make sense that the government would want to him to print such a unbelievable story knowing it would be questioned ? What would be the purpose? I should have scrutinized the facts more closely because looking back it does seem unlikely Because it muddies the water. Because many people may see the first report but not the reveal that it's bollocks. The Daily Mail here often publishes 'apologies' for headlines it has done that were utter lies yet most people don't see them, so while the truth 'gets out' not everyone will hear it. Yeah, people are so harried by real life that they only have time to remember headlines. Retractions either don't happen or are nested amongst some back page fluff so most readers only remember that a pasty, bespectacled traitor has endangered their safety. To be honest it was a serious indictment on Snowden if it was real....I am annoyed that it got to me. The newspaper needs to check its facts with stories this consequential
