Oh, if only I could like this post more than once. And that last paragraph should... kudos. You took the words right out of my mouth I was saying to Serdan how I spend most of my time on these forums on the Off-Topic where I try to raise issues around SJ and most of the time people aren't really that interested...so I use to feel I was one of the few people who seemed to care. But after reading many of the comments in this thread and others its been very reassuring to see there are many people who share my views and refuse to accept discrimination on these forums. So this entire discussion has been great The only thing I do nowadays is I say " I care about SJ values " and not " I'm a SJW ". They do basically mean the same thing but what I have noticed is an immediate dismissive attitude if you say " SJW " because that has become a term to describe people who want to change everything that people claim to hold dear. And even though we shouldn't have to not use the term SJW its much easier to initiate dialogue if you just avoid that word. The discussion can be exactly the same and thats what matters to me, the discussion. Frankly I don't care what people want to call me, I just want to debate the issues I feel are relevant to achieve a more equitable and tolerant society

I'm not that bad but I do eat Pizza with a knife and fork
-
Do you guys use a knife and fork to eat a hamburger? I always do but after watching food shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives it appears you should use your hands to eat a good burger

Really, isn't a core ingredient of guacamole Avocado? Yes, but not all guac tastes a ton like plain avocado. Some are more like .. hot chunky salsa with some avocado mush in it. Fair enough

Wowzers that does look good You have very similar tastes to me, additions like bacon and avocado can only improve an already tasty burger Its interesting how they offer both guacamole and Avo as separate items so theoretically you could have both even though they are very similar

Pillars Vs Grimrock 2
BruceVC replied to scottyford's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This, games are really completely different Personally I enjoy both types of games. But I prefer your more classic RPG with real dialogue options like PoE But games like Grimrock are very entertaining in there own way -
That sounds like an impressive sight ....especially at night What type of burger did you eat...details please, details

Yes this is correct about being influenced around a certain extremist ideology But that is not the type of assumptions I am talking about, what you saying is fact because he was raised in a certain environment But it would be wrong to say " all Muslims are extremists " , those are the types of assumptions of groups of people I don't make

Nonsense. Everybody does. The trick is (1) attempting to be aware of making those assumptions and (2) being able to set them aside when they're pointed out to you. Human cognition is based on categorization and generalization. It's just the way we tick. It's how we deal with the resulting biases that count. Once again give me examples of where I have made assumptions of groups of people ? Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. Try reading it again. If you want I can help you. Please do, I clearly need help Originally I was going to largely ignore this series of posts outside of my rather snarky "like" as I'm under the impression that you aren't really interested in the necessary introspection but then I remembered how your reaction caught in my throat while everyone else was rightfully expressing their shock and sympathy for the legitimate and completely unexcusaeble bigotry Mungri's own father hurled into his face. Mungri can I ask you a question? As a gay man how do you feel about some of these comments on this thread? Do you find comments like " homosexuality is not natural " annoying? Offensive? Or do you just not care. My gay friends seem to care less about gay rights than I do, they say things like " you will never change some peoples minds so why bother ". But I refuse to accept that. I don't need to change peoples minds, I just want to let people that homophobia is not acceptable I'm pretty much desensitised to such stuff after my father told me that he would have had me aborted if he knew I was going to turn out gay. Yeah some of my friends have similar stories, not all of them but some. Living in South Africa we have a very liberal constitution that protects your sexual orientation in society but that doesn't stop all homophobic comments and of course nothing can stop what people and family say and act on a personal level One of my friends told his mom at the age of 20 he was gay and she didn't speak to him for 3 years because her boyfriend was homophobic. They get on very well now but when he told me the story he didn't even seem angry with her....I was thinking " how can your mom chose some random guy over her own son...and how can you not be angry and disappointed with her " ... but I never said those things to him because I didn't want to make him feel worse about his moms behavior I know you aren't looking for sympathy and I'm sure we will now hear comments like " oh so now only gay people have a monopoly on there parents treating them badly..my parents did this to me and my parents did that " but the reality is most straight people have never had to deal with the emotional and verbal abuse and hurt that many gay people have to deal with including the incredibly insensitive and appalling comments that your were subjected to by your dad ...anyway thanks for sharing So ... was that another BruceVC? Sorry I have no idea what you are talking about? Can you explain a little further ..are you suggesting I didn't show concern about how Mungri's dad treated him? I want to have this debate with you so please respond

Its funny isn't it Meshugger, someone really wants to discuss bias and ethics in the gaming industry and you don't think he is being serious. It just shows how jaded we have all become around this topic and it isn't that unusual to question this type of interest in the real topic . It feels like a lifetime ago when the whole Zoe Quinn incident started ...and man this thing has been discussed to death, you think of all the links, outrage and events that have occurred..no wonder you suffering from " topic fatigue " But he is legitimate, I just wonder how long discussion on "ethics in the gaming industry " can continue considering the past history of debate

Angry Joe LOVED Pillars Of Eternity

Fixed. Sorry, Just trying to get my self psyched for Witcher 3. (which, btw, you should be *really* interested in Bruce. The Main plot is about Geralt finding a lost love. Isn't that, like, what you live for?) You right, I'm super excited about W3...but more because of the size of the game world and the overall quality of the narrative. And of course all the other endearing qualities that come with a Witcher game like monster hunting, the mature themes and the real choices you need to make that seem to really matter and make you think (I let Letho live after hearing why he did what he did ) So yeah you right Stun..bring on W3 -

I've actually seen people argue that a game is only an RPG if there's a 'to hit' mechanice. That's preposterous..its such a silly thing to say that a game is only a RPG unless it contains a "to hit " mechanic A game is only a RPG if it contains deep and engaging Romance arcs...at least this is something we can all agree on -
You seem like a very rationale and reasonable person Evensong, I like the way you make your points in that way that is cogent yet not at all belligerent I hope to see you frequenting the OT section more often

Russians don't need sleep ...you guys are HARDCORE !!!
-
Okay but that's not the same thing as Rape so my moral code won't be compromised playing this game
-
why you play misogynistic game? its made of rape Can you rape people in this game ? I'm certain that is inaccurate...you probably used a Mod to give that depraved activity
-
Its quite a coincidence but you see how many of us have 6-7 hours of optimal sleep, we all seem to be similar like that
-
oh, I want to be your friend then Bokishi...ignore him ...he is using you for your money

Yes you do. Everyone does. All the time. Just the fact that you are aware of it makes you even more likely to do it while conciously trying to avoid it. Not only is generalization an integral and necessary part of the psyche and basic instincts, but there's been studies that show that if you specifically tell people to avoid stereotyping, they stereotype harder. So in your rainbow delusion, you're probably worse than most that doesn't care. Sure buts lets not over-analyze what I said and nitpick I don't say things like " all Russians are homophobic " despite homophobic laws being passed in Russia or I wouldn't say " all Americans are arrogant warmongers " despite America under Bush being very militant around foreign policy So maybe you can give me examples of where I have "been making assumptions about groups of people " ? I respond directly to what people say or how they act

We should do that, once I have mastered the game in SP mode I'll let you know so we can do some online gaming together
