You must live in the same fantasy world as the twitter person who originally started this ****storm if you think demanding for refunds will help in any way. Honestly though, people that demand refunds belong to a pretty extreme minority, but there's still a good point in it. Most companies only speak one single language, and that is money. Even if only a very small amount demand their money back, it sends a very clear message, precisely because it is a very small amount of people that would go to such lengths, representing a growing issue. For every 1 person that is extreme enough to demand a refund, there's probably hundreds of people that have had their faith in the company shaken, or is questioning their purchase, but whose jimmies are not rustled enough to demand a refund. And the developers know this. I'm not saying people should go en masse and demand refunds, now, no, just that your conclusion is questionable at best. Demanding refunds may very well help, even if it only "helps" in that key persons may be replaced as time goes on, or that the company avoids appeasing crazy people in the future. At this point, they've painted themselves into a corner and they cannot back down on the decision to cave to the perpetually offended without losing face even further, so in that sense, you are correct that anyone thinking that they can convince Obsidian to be reasonable are living in a fantasy world, but as for the overall issue.. well it certainly doesn't hurt.

[1.0.3.524] Aloth is greeted as "Ma'am" by a Vailian guard(!)

Dexterity is super-useful for Wizards, because DEX affects action speed. It is, in fact, the only thing it does (aside from boosting your Reflex Defense, but all Attributes boosts on of these). There are notable exceptions to the rule, however. First and foremost, you get the most out of Dexterity the lower Recovery Speed you have, so you will want to wear Cloth or, at the very worst, Robes (which still comes at a 15% penalty to your Recovery Speed, because Robes in PoE are not the same as Cloth, for some odd and no doubt derp reason). So yes, Dexterity is important for Wizards, but if you wear armour of practically any kind, Dexterity is terrible. This is true for pretty much everyone, by the way; Attributes in PoE are generalized, but lopsided as all hell, so what's good for one character is good for all other characters of the same type, those types pretty much being "DPS" and "Tank". Since you probably do not want to make your Wizard into a tank (Why on Earth would you even try?) you probably want to make it into DPS, making Might, Dexterity and especially Intellect (a consolidated caster Attribute with the current Attribute bonuses). If you were making a tank, you'd want Perception, Resolve and.. eh.. Constitution? Not really, nobody needs Constitution. Do note that this no longer applies. I realize this was written on the 2nd of April, so I'm not criticizing, but Slicken has been nerfed into the ground and thematically and conceptually changed. It no longer "wears off", it's like a no-damage small, instant fireball AoE effect that knocks opponents prone once, not a persistent "Hazard AoE" oil slick.

Context. The fact as to whether it actually scans or not is irrelevant. It's not a poetry reading or contest. The fact that it was a limerick and how good or bad of a limerick it was is so irrelevant it's out of this world. You're grasping at straws when you're harping on something like that in the context of my post, i.e. the fact that they caved to pressure from lunatics in this instance, while the vast majority of the tombstones aren't even.. whatever.. they're trying.. if anything, I guess, to be. Funny. Whatever. Contextually, the memorial in question was nothing short of genius, who cares if it scans? Nobody, except people grasping at straws, autists hung up on poetry, and 5th grade <insert native language here> teachers. Arguably worse? Pretty much all of them. All of the memorials. If I had had the chance to write a memorial, I think I would've wanted to have it taken out of the game, just to not be associated with the PoE memorials and the backers that wrote them. Immortalized as idiots in a video game; "The joke's on you, I was only pretending to be retarded".
-
Yeeaaah, that's pretty buggy. I'd prefer them to just start "as is" on lvl1. Actually I'd prefer level 2, I think; meaning they're at a point where they can be considered their own persons, but with plenty of space to grow in. It is apparently impossible to pick up, for example, Pallegina before level 4, which I consider completely unacceptable. That's 1/3 of the levels in the game and enough to make someone "beyond salvation".

What's funny is that these same people are perfectly fine with nonsense like this: Which puts the memorials at just slightly better than Sonic The Hedgehog furry fanfic but you know outrage and boycotts... Actually, no. "These same people" aren't fine with that, in fact, the vast majority of people that are disappointed in Obsidian caving to the Twitter lunatics fully acknowledge that the memorials overall is terrible, garbage even. The fact that they chose to remove one of the very few ones that weren't objectively horrible and that would actually have fitted the bill of "tombstone jokes" - practically a staple of the genre by now - just adds fuels to the fire. The fact that they came up with the ridiculous PR claim about vetting is just insulting, considering the sea of piss that made it into the game just fine, but this, this one that wasn't actually bad, that actually fitted into the game and the genre, that actually provided what you'd expect from a tombstone, no, that one was just "missed". Out of all the issues with the Memorials, they chose to edit one of the very few that aren't terrible, directly at the behest of confirmed psychos. That is why this is upsetting people. It does not mean that the upset backers and buyers think that the rest of the memorials are alright, by a long shot. But the fact that out of all the really terrible ones that shouldn't have made it into the game to begin with, this one was the one that was changed. Which is just plain ridiculous, on multiple levels. It is childish and patethic, not to say morally reprehensible, and utterly insulting that they try to cover it up with a hilariously transparent PR line, after they first tried to slip it through unmentioned in the patch notes, hoping no-one would notice.

Why not just cheat? Modding PoE isn't the friendliest thing in the world, and it's much easier to use CheatEngine or the Console to achieve what you want.
-
Not sure if it's been mentioned (I only checked the first page of replies) but it should really be noted that this is not a robe. In game terms, this is a really, really important distinction, because robes are terrible and clothing is not. This, specifically, is the Vailian Clothing, cloth_outfit_vailian, I believe. And it unfortunately does not look as good on men. That said, I wish there was more clothing in the game, including a version of this without the floral patterns (or whatever it is). It looks great in white, because it covers up the pattern (it's always white) and makes you look at least 50% more pimp.

Brad Wardell is nothing short of a ****ing hero when it comes to this idiocy, and he say everything that really needs to be said on this subject. He's had to deal with this particular brand of insanity before, and it shows. Oh, look! It's people that were never interested in the game to begin with, being upset about the platform they are politicizing isn't politicizing fast enough for them. What an utter and complete surprise that they are still upset. Shocking. Shockinng. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, crazy people.

To bad we have objective reality that shows this claim to be entirely untrue. Honestly, I don't see why some of you are even defending it at this point, saying that it never happened. Everyone knows it did. I'm not sure what's worse, the SJW crazies that are cheering it on or the SJW hypocrites that claimed it never happened. It's really weird. The games community is kind of sensitive and fractured at the moment, so everything gets completely blown out of proportion. Actually, gamers really isn't fractured at all. The gaming community concern themselves with the state of gaming and opposes censorship or pressure tactics, whether it's from interest groups or no-name psychopaths. The insanity comes from people trying to use the medium as a political platform rather than an art outlet or culturally significant hobby; also known as Social Justice Warriors or Cultural Marxists. Or just "that crazy ****er on Twitter that is having a meltdown based on nonsense haha oh wow". You're missing the point. People aren't actually going bananas over the Twit in the OP. People are saying that if Obsidian is going to cave to crazies, they shouldn't be hypocritical about it. Why is a complete non-issue catered to, but an actual issue ignored on the basis of artistic merit? If the first was an issue, how can this possibly not be, by any stretch of the imagination? And the truth of the matter is, of course, that it wasn't an issue before, and it isn't an issue now. The issue is, ultimately, that really, really crazy people comes with frivolous demands based on being "offended" by potentiall objectionable content, mostly by proxy. Reasonable people aren't being reasonable, because the situation created isn't reasonable by any measurement. The first reaction was completely irrational and utterly unreasonable. Reasonable people are, therefore, asking for consistency in order to highlight the original point - that point being that if you let "the offended" dictate your policies, you are in a position you cannot possibly win. The only way to win is to not play the game. And, when possible, tell these people to take their dogmatic bull**** and shove it so far up where the sun doesn't shine that it forms a supermassive black hole and turns into a magnificent quasar, because then at least we'd have something nice to look at.

Eh, we're leaving the topic of the thread and getting deep into political and metacultural territory. Sufficient to say, there is no endgame in itself, but is about the disolution of norms, whether cultural, social or biological. Cultural Marxism is a form of concious subversion of structures formed by anyone that isn't a nutcase. There's much better places for being enlightened on this, really.

We wish we could ignore this, but if this wasn't an ongoing problem, it would just be ignored. The OP isn't actually helping to spin the wheels for these idiots - Obsidian is. Obsidian insists on responding to non-issues through some kind of pavlonian reflex and let "the offended" dictate what is acceptable and what isn't; that's the whole problem. Except they explicitly stated they wouldn't have wanted this in the game in the first place, it slipped past them. That makes it a correction, not caving. Removing the quest like where you kill a kid would be caving. But that's not gonna happen, because that would be preposterous. Caving the first time was preposterous. Not caving this time will be just as preposterous as caving the first time. If you really believe the engineered excuse in the Announcment, I have a bridge to sell you, just North of Defiance Bay. Mint condition.

The issue is not the expression of an opinion. The issue is catering to nutjobs and caving to what amounts to nothing short of soft terrorism. They didn't 'cave,' and they won't change this quest. They did, and you know it. Saying that they didn't isn't really doing the whole thing any favours. You are correct in that they won't change the quest, though, which is of course part of the problem. I don't want them to change it, of course, but I would prefer them to not be hypocrites at all.

The issue is not the expression of an opinion. The issue is catering to nutjobs and caving to what amounts to nothing short of soft terrorism. Nobody would have cared about the crazy nobody that whined on Twitter about the memorial, had it not been for Sawyer actually responding to them like it was something to be taken seriously, and then Obsidian actually addressing it, despite the insistance from the actual fans that they should not let things like this dictate policy.
-
Quick, remove it! And don't include it in the patch notes, because then people might notice. I have yet to see "Anti-SJWs" raising scandals. I've seen them object to turn non-issues into "issues", but by their nature, they do not raise any by themselves. You are however right that this is nothing but hijacking - these people, self-appointed social justice warriors that have monetized the act of being offended and made it into a political tool. They have no interest in the quality or integrity of the game, and none of them are interested in gaming as a medium. They are interested in pushing an agenda, promoting a political dogma, and peddling their filth, not gaming, and certainly not Pillars of Eternity as a whole. But now, these Twitter lunatics and errant tumblrites apparently dictate policy. This was already pointed out in the discussion about the Memorial. The Memorial in question was one of the extremely few that weren't complete garbage, that would actually have fitted into the game, or any old-school RPG. When all others passed the mustard, this one was singled out, despite that, because of these lunatics, who didn't care about any of that, and were then catered to by Obsidian and Sawyer. The game features themes and situations including incest, meticulously slow and deliberate murder, human sacrifice, and child abuse. This is just the top of the iceberg. All of it is very well written, very well made, and the game is rated M for mature. Yet this ultimately small-time thing was singled out by a very specific group of defective people and pushed. Nevermind the child sacrifice. Nevermind the child abuse. Nevermind the growing insanity. Nevermind the fact that thousands of children have been turned either into soulless husks that don't even cry, ruining families, or into crazed abominations imbued with the twisted and deranged souls of animals forced from their natural form. Nevermind all of that, because this nobody somewhere is offended and probably triggered. If the memorial, the very definition of a ****ing non-issue, is catered to and the offended coddled, then this, the issue that the game actually allows you to not only beat children, but to sacririce them, an issue with far greater substance and which could warrant much greater discussion, actually has a very real and valid point. I think that point should be dismissed completely. Let's be clear on that. But if the memorial is addressed, how can this not possibly be addressed, without this being the height of hypocrisy? Why is a fitting non-issue of a joke that can be ignored addressed, when the issue of very real child murder is just glanced over? **** these people. All of them. The SJW:s throwing a hissyfit over nothing and the vagrant tumblrites and the twitter mothers complaining about child murder. A lot of people sponsored this game so that it could be an M-rated game, so that it would be free from censorship and the involvement of crazy marketing schemes and interest groups. But now, apparently, "the offended" are setting policy. "The offended", whether they play the game or not. Whether they contributed or not. And I insist that if this is the new policy, Obsidian and Paradox shouldn't be hypocrites about it. Sawyer responded personally the last time. He should do so again. But he won't. And we all know that. But it's still worth pointing out. We insist. Go on.

My guess: an issue with the hotfix. Also, Bester, I know we all share a common hatred for the Memorials, but is there any chance you could restore the deleted/changed Memorial as a core part of the mod? The tears of insane SJW everywere that just can't possibly use the mod when it includes such "transphobia" would nourish all thinking people everywhere, I think. Honestly, why should Bester waste his time putting energy into this? Probably better off just ignoring it completely, imo; it's not worth all the drama and attention it's been given. From what I've seen, the people complaining neither play the game nor use the IE mod. Why? Because he probably enjoy the virgin tears of the intellectually disinclined as much as the next person? Because he's awesome, and we like awesome people? Because it's hilariously easy to actually do for him, but an insurmountable hurdle for the mental midgets that would be put off by it? Take your pick. The fact that these self-appointed social justice warriors that insist on taking offense by proxy do not even play the games, nor consider themselves gamers, but just look upon the medium as a political platform to push their agenda or peddle their filth, just makes the thing so much worse, and if anything, reinforces the incentive to push back, in however a small form. 11/10, would pray at the altar of Bester again.

The tears of insane SJW everywere that just can't possibly use the mod when it includes such "transphobia" would nourish all thinking people everywhere, I think. Is this something people are actually complaining about? The fact that Obsidian caved to the demands of a small sect of Twitter lunatics playing the "I'm offended"-game, and removed one of the single few memorial notes that weren't objectively horrific, and which a backer invested $500 USD in the game for? Yeah, you might say that people are a tad upset over that issue. You're going to need to be more specific. I haven't been keeping up with whatever dumb Internet drama plays out on a day-to-day basis. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/75219-limerick-edit-thread/ There's probably a better thread for it; this is pretty much the fallout thread, not one of the ones that highlighted the original "issue" and the ridiculous demands of the lunatic few. But it should be the gist of it.

You're not reading his point right. Moving any stat points from character RP vision to satisfy their mechanical needs (Eder more tanky. Durance more aoe-y) is travesty against the RP. Not said that I agree with it though, as for me the attribute distribution of companions is more of a testament to the fact their stats were set before attribute changes of post-v435, not because of RP only. So they do need minor tweaking. But some stuff should not be touched (eg. being Durance's 19 resolve which crucially ties to the way his character behaves). From RP point I don't mind Eder losing some Int, he has his wisdom but in the end he is a bit of a half-wit farmboy.. Nor do I grieve after Durance losing some PER, not really what determined him as a person, being perceptive. I disagree (obviously); Durance is actually quite perceptive, but he doesn't care for the arguments or merits (or de-merits) of the issues. He calls them as he sees them and is adamant as to the solution and direction. This might not be entirely true, at the end of the day, considering his clear crisis of faith, but it is how he presents himself and it is.. well.. his character. The fact that he has problems dealing with these things is precisely because he's not an intellectual, he's a firebrand. The same goes for Edér; he's not an academic, but he's clearly a person that does think a lot, and sometimes comes across almost as a philospher, wondering if it was all worth it, and considering what could've been, and so on. The exact thinking that Durance absolutely do not convey, at least not at first, and at least he has a harder time dealing with it. The Attribute System should've been fixed, not the characters compromised.
