  1. Did you play it already Voli? How did ya like it?
  2. Oh my god did you see that new Pool of Radiance game? Sounds awesome. And if I don't like it I can just uninstall it. Nothing bad could ever happen. .... Come on as bad and old as that joke is it needed to be here...
  3. Only the minority of the advertisments was co-op related . And even then it never really focused on online co-op but buddy co-op with your friend. Still it was a little misleading especially close to release date. Also while I get the complaints regarding the mechanics beeing changed from the first two games..... these examples are all complete gerne changes. I mean... DSIII is still a hack n' slash/ARPG.... A different console based one but its not like I'm suddenly playing a first person shooter/action game or a strategy game or anything else. Also M&M changed its mechanics quite a bit over its entries and went from fully turn-based to realtime. It didn't change quite as much as in DSIII but its still a very weird example.
  4. Probably not the first. But there should/could be something coming.
  5. Oh, interesting. In both my runs I could never bring it over me to give him to Stonebrdge.
  6. You know, this.... doesn't make sense. All of Obsidians Games had either terrible PC Controls or a consolized interface. From KOTOR2 ugly big interface over NWN2 and all its problems regarding camera and controls to Alpha Protocols console UI and Fallout 3/NVs more console oriented design/UI I mean did you people really play the same Obsidian games as me? I'm sure back then you also complained about the same thing. What exactly makes this stuff better in retrospect if it bothers you so much now?
  7. No. No critisism is "the fairest" or anything else. Especially one that is only thought out by one specific mind.
  8. No On the pure notion that it was only one guy who really brought the DA2 argument up. Furthermore said guy did it only regarding graphics. Otherwise this board is/was relativly clean with stuff like that. Even from Fanboys. Edit: Actually I have seen similiar comparison seen before here but they weren't brought up by us fanboys. Rather the ones who compared them that DSIII was to DS was just as bad as DAII was to DA.
  9. No, I'm not interpreting too much. At all. The game also makes constant refrences to it in dialouge and is aware of it. To give an example by Odo: "If we we win this war, Jeyne will be dead. Her words become lies and ours become truth" Also if you are thinking about moral situations only in D&D terms. Well,..... Yeah, I'm a little bit different wired in my worldview. The entire story has actually (as usual with Obsidian) quite a bit of depth and commentary.
  10. 1. Yes, you have to beat the boss. Like in JE. Except there you had a third option regarding her you can make. However you also have several options to deal with Jeyne AFTER the fight in DSIII. 2. No, at least not how someone would define "real" allies. 3. Jeyne was none of that. She wasn't treachurous nor was she necessarly evil. And yes, you can be in a certain way. You can lead the legion into many ways. Just in a lot greyer ways than black and white ones. Your last two questions make me wonder if you "got" everything that happened in the games backstory and the Legions role in it. No offense. I didn't say, that Jeyne was "evil". But I would be, if I'd change sides and do anything for my advantage at the cost of the legion. But I guess, this all leads away from the original topic. If you want to discuss this further, I'd happily respond to a your PM. I don't, really. but your right it differs from the original thread topic. Just to close this though and you don't need to answer. Just a question thrown in the room. What exactly makes the legion "the good guys"? What makes any such organization "the good guys"? And why should going against them be "evil" in return?
  11. So, nothing new on the Obs boards?

  13. Well then it probably depends on taste. I for myself thought that DSIII had lots of NPC development and you had an active role to determine it. Especially related to I for one didn't feel all that invested in F:NV actually since it seemed to me I was just some random guy who helped them and used little artifical skill checks to suddenly change their opinion in certain cases. I still enjoyed the writing related to this. Of, course. IMO. Like I said, I see where you are coming from and you have valid opinions related to it. Just a matter of viewpoint. Also I have played two times so far and I got vastly different ending slides. So I'd disagree strongly on actions having no effect on the ending. @ Anjybelle
  14. I disagree on this. At least it doesn't compare badly to other (earlier) Obsidian RPGs IMO. But I respect the opinion and I can definitly see where you are coming from. Well, if you took the game's story/chrs. and put it into novel form, I'd like it much better. I did read most of the Lore and all of that, along with being patient enough to read the dialogues and it's nice (especially the references to the past games) but eh, didn't reach me I guess. In a game, it's hard for me to be emotionally touched when no matter what dialogue choices I pick, the outcome is the same. Which is what happens in DS3 far as I can tell. I reloaded several key dialogue points and in the end, it's still the same outcome/I have to do the same thing. I feel like my chr has no influence what happens in the game as I play it - well, beyond "influencing" a companion. So while the story may be potentially good, I don't "feel" it. Actually, as much as I love FNV, I feel the same way about 80% of what goes on in that game, too. Or most games, which is why I probably am not very into "story" in games to begin with. In a novel I'm not expecting to be an influence so the telling of the story has more impact. Or something. I'm not sure really. I'm not easily moved by most stories themselves to being with...tho there are a few basic themes that tend to get to me a lot, if presented in a way that I relate to. The Rajani Choice is one that has a "big" impact later in the game and allows for even more if you take Anjali as a companion with you. You also have quite the bit influence on other things even if it isn't immediatly apparent. Though, I get what you are saying. So, full on branching path like The Witcher 2 does it would be better for you? Or anything in between where you see the result of your actions more direct?
  15. More of them in general would be nice. They were easily in the better half of Obsidian quests in general. Also throughout the game and especially in the Stonebridge quests I liked the mechanic where both involved parties would state their opinion on the subject matter and how you should decide according to them. I'd like this reused in further Obsidian games. Usually thats just: "Well, you should do this to please me. Reasons? Well because I have x personality and it fits x personality."

  17. I never have really experienced a game that has story depth for 60+ hours. For RPGs 20-30 hours is pretty perfect to keep up a well written story. This was actually pretty much the problem with NWN 2 OC that could have been better if you cut majorly from it. (Like, most of Act 1) For DSIII I recommed reading as much of the lore ingame as possible and then view charachters and story in that light. It gets quite deep then. Plus points if you actually know the refrences and insperations it draws from.

  19. Diablo 2. But that has been thrown around here already. The MP issues would be remedied already when the camera issues could be fixed and if possible non-tetherd. As far as persistant co-op goes I'm the opinion that it just isn't worth it since there is not really any persistent MP focused content to speak of. Expect maybe if a expansion pack/larger DLC focused on that but that is A: Unlikely B: I'd rather see it in a DSIV
  20. Sales Sales on Steam SURPRISE, sales on steam sell higher than retail titles. Alpha Protocol also was more than a day on the first when it was on sale. Otherwise its stuff with very low prices. Edit: A good comparison would be Alice: Madness Returns that came out around the same time as DSIII has similiar scores and similar production values.
