XBOX 360 4mb patch: what does it fix?
C2B replied to rafoca's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Hotfix Probably just solved 1-2 minor issues. Was probably the one for the console texture bug. -
DS III / IwD III (read it Obsidian guys plz)

They named it Odyssey Engine. The only offical Bioware Aurora Game was NWN. -

No. In fact all of these have different engines (at least named differently) Though Onyx is/will be still very flexible. And above all its made by Obsidian themselves so a lot less bugs. -

Also just saying. Together with the corridor approach came a huge, HUGE improvement in terms of enemy encounter design for an Obsidian game. Honestly that is the worst thing in other Obsidian games in terms of combat. Edit: (Though, KOTOR2/AP were also corridor linear for large parts) -

Because the game is designed that way. Also I would disagree that DSIII is simplistic (though I'm probably taking into account here other things than you do) or completly casual (though it has a nice casual side to it). Edit: Do not get me wrong. I prefer a more open approach myself. Though not open world exactly. Somewhere in the middle is my happyground. -
If it was/is already in production the chances are high that at least one will be released.

Because it is a top down game? Why should you create unneeded Skyboxes in the first place? Would only waste resources. And thats not the problem with the games camera. We need more zoom. Not a third person witcher 2 like. -

Also since when is Onyx not capable of zooming out or other things? Also Obsidian should stay with the engine as long as possible. -

Witcher 2 works better with a controller than it works with KB&M (Though the controls work better than in DSIII at least). The UI is also geared towards that (with the pop-up radial menu) -
For a hack n' slash it certainly is ambitious (and controversial). Controversial? Don't make me laugh. I've yet to see a single game that is "controversial". Unless your idea of controversial is different than mine. You haven't? And here I thought Mortal Kombat with it's entire creation of the game ratings system had controversy, or the Columbine killings blamed on Doom was controversy, or Hot Coffee was controversy...silly me...I obviously don't know what controversy is. On the other topic, DS3 is good, but Alpha Protocol is better as far as gameplay goes. I'd say AP was FAR more ambitious overall, and gamer heavy than DS3. DS3 was more polished, but AP wins out for me any day of the week. Controversity is a prolonged disagrement over a matter of opinion. It doesn't have to be something as big as this etc. So yes, lots of games are controversial.
-
But it is. No its not. Whatever you may think. At least not "safe".
-
Fixed. Wow, I also could say I played till the end of Saudia Arabia and meet only NPCs that were "shallow" written. Sorry Obsidian, next time. In fact I remember to have defended Alpha Protocol last year about that when it was the big Obsidian "sellout". It's fine if you don't like the game. But that does in NO WAY mean that Dungeon Siege III is somehow a "safe, unambitious" game. All the complaints from ARPG/Hack n' Slash Fans for not following gerne conventions but instead focusing on other things are proof enough.
-
For a hack n' slash it certainly is ambitious (and controversial). Also again I hate to bring this up again but in which way is Alpha Protocol better? If you take the C&C away its even less ambitious than DSIII. I mean I love Alpha Protocol. Its my favourite Obsidian Game actually. And I defend it like hell at any oppurtiunity. But there seems to be a hell of a lot bias going on here.

Please tell me you're kidding. No? Honestly I have no idea if they didn't manage to make the deadline or if there was some other problem that crept up with the new controls. But we know that different controls should have come towards the end but they never managed to get into the final version which left us with the "old" version. Thats also probably why Nathaniel said he had liked to work on them some more before release.
-
How exactly should they have made it more clear? All previous reports we had about the game pretty much indicated that it will work best with a controller/local co-op. Though, it was expected to have better PC controls but those were worked on towards the end and didn't manage to make the deadline. So, its now beeing worked on in patches.

Keybinding and Move Left/Right Patch
C2B replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
And you know that GB are totally useless to determine how much content a game has? Do you know that just by stripping out videos from games you can bring most games down to -~4GB? Mass Effect 2 for example can be brought down to 4GB by "just" reducing the video quality. Not removing anything. The Force Unleashed 2 has only content for 3-4 hours yet it is like 13GB. Edit: (though I don't have TFU2 so thats just from heresay) -
Considering the statement was pretty general I would guess they have at least 2-3 weeks into the Japanese release so at least 2 months for it to reach that goal. Of course if we suddenly see a huge (general) price drop and no communication from Obsidian/no patches or DLC we pretty much can guess that it didn't sell fast enough. That there are patches coming and the last comment in the blogpost makes hopeful.

If the million + expected sales on that Square Enix executives profile is/was accurate I don't really think its going to be that disappointing. Its still a very managable and actually low goal over three plattforms.
-
162'000 Also this isn't really a low number compared to other games on vgchartz and nearly the highest new game. And don't forget the game still has to be released in Japan where the Square Enix Name could do for a little push in Sales.
