Poll: DLC or a new multiplayer?
Singleplayer DLC. More sophisticated online mode for a possible Dungeon Siege IV.

Commercial success
Don't take this as an insult but I seriously doubt you fully understood the plot or the themes behind it.

For Devs...
Its amazing how tastes can differ. The things you find interesting and longlasting (Grinding/Bossruns) are incredible boring to me (Thats also probably why I'm not that big into MMOs or Diablo Style ARPGS). Part of the reason I will replay DSIII because it is as "short" as it is. I had 17 hours as I finished the game. So even that can vary. Also thats my opinion on the matter so please don't think of it as an attack. It's not meant to be one.

I thought it was more "average"; if this was painted as a triple A title game it would be low, true. Kinda makes the question; was it painted as an AAA title? If they expected a million sales i seriosuly doubt it, besides the game isn't that great don't get me wrong i do like it but it lacks depth. How do you define "depth"? For me DSIII has quite a lot of depth actually.

Commercial success
For comparison Alpha Protocol still made around 700'000 sold copies.

What were Square's expectations for the title, by the way? We had a number a while ago I think. Around 1.5 mil I think.

Commercial success
Not exactly. The Duke is out longer so there aren't as many players anymore.

Just play this on a console, if at all.

DS3 Rminds me of Icewind Dale
I'd say its very flexible in its mechanics. We haven't seen a "true" rpg so far but aside from DSIII, Aliens: Crucible was also on Onyx and that was for example a shooter rpg.

Not as good as other Obsidian games.
Actually there are several BIS Veterans on the Art Team. Including some who have worked on Dark Alliance 2.

Not as good as other Obsidian games.
Not as good as FNV, MotB and KotOR2, equal to NWN2: OC and Alpha Protocol, better than SoZ. If we go by lists mine would be >NWN2OC,SOZ =AP,F:NV <KOTOR2,MOTB

It compares well. Its also ambitious for a hack n' slash/ARPG. I do not agree at all. And it has the best "grey" antagonist of any Obsidian game. Also Chris Avellone doesn't make the game alone nor was he for example involved all that much in MOTB or NV.

The Radiant Youth
Those are both in DSIII. The second part is in a lorebook (though more detailed) and its also "just" suggested in this game. Hopefully we will learn more about him in a future game.

The Radiant Youth
Its actually mentioned that he also appeared in other forms. Why he is a child in this case would be interesting to know.

It was regarding a "sarcastic" remark of JabbaDeHut. Just mentioning. Random related Stuff: I've actually seen Journalists that normally dislike Obsidian games who received DSIII positive. Like RPS/Eurogamers Quintin Smith.

One guy, that probably won't review another Obs game, and might have not done so before. You got no journalists, one guy. Really your just looking for a way disregard reviews you disagree with. And I named him as one example. Also, yes. He actually reviewed New Vegas. Was actually pretty positive about it too back then. Edit: Ninja'd. Edit2: Also, where did I say I disregard their reviews? Switching a lot of words around. Are ya? I only disregard reviews when they are badly written or completly wrong in parts. Which actually included some "positive" reviews for DSIII and other Obs Games too.

So one journalist has a silly rage, (even then he's still entitled to his opinion, even if you don't like it) and now game journalists have some vendetta against Obs? A best it's one guy blowing of steam, at worst it's one with an axe to grind. No secret conspiracy to bring Obs down. Buying Eidos doesn't have Edit: "much" to do with game reviews so I really don't know what you are stating here. (Eidos past history with gaming journalism can be ignored. Since, you know different managment and internal politics.) Also, nicely ignored the first part of my post to make a point that is completly pointless. There are journalists that don't like Obsidian very much. There are also journalists that like other companies not very much. Its just pretty visible in Obsidians case.

My Review
You know. Your opinion is yours and I respect that. That, however loses every meaning as soon as you consider your opinion to be a universal FACT. So, yes. Flame, Flame, Flame.

Uhmmmm, Square Enix may be a well known publisher but you can't really suspect them of giving out bribe money. Their recent games aren't exactly known for scoring too high. Also, yes. There are journalists that have a personal feud against Obsidian as evidenced by a recent escapist article. I'm not suspecting them of giving bribe money. I'm saying they probably have the means to, just like EA. I also don't automatically suspect EA of dealing out bribe money if their games happen to score a little higher. An 8.0 from Gamespot compared to the 9.5 Origins got from Kevin VanOrd is hardly flattering for Dragon Age 2. What is this 'evidence'? Why would anyone 'have it out for Obsidian' in the first place? Sounds absolutely ridculous. I didn't really say anything about EA............... Just defended Square. Also about "some" (I'm not saying its the majority. Far from it)journalists having it out against Obsidian. Behold glorius game journalist http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/v...ditors-Note-DIY

Feargus Urquhart interview on gamesTM
How do two mainstream console games beg to differ that Obsidian isn't interested in making complex tactical RPG's like Icewind Dale or Storm of Zehir? Note: I like and own both those games, just saying they aren't exactly complex tactical RPG's. *tactical* Isn't exactly what I answered to.

Feargus Urquhart interview on gamesTM
No. Obsidian's CEO thinks that a simple action RPG that doesn't need character creation potentially sells more copies than a more complex tactical RPG (and he's probably correct). However, he's expressing it in a way that makes it sound like he thinks that gamers used to love character generation but now can't stand it. Completely ignoring the fact that one group (IWD buyers) were a few hundred thousand PC RPG fans while the other is a few million console gamers who just want a random action game. There are plenty of modern PC games that are far more complicated than IWD, but Obsidian obviously isn't interested in making a complex PC game. Saying it's impossible is insulting to those companies and to the gamers who like that type of games. I... don't really see how you got that from it. New Vegas and AP beg to differ.

C2B replied to philr1's topic in Dungeon Siege III: The Chapterhouse - Character Builds & Strategies (Spolier Warning!)Endslides for companions are determined by a mix of (majorly) NPC Interaction and (secondary) Choices. At least thats the impression I got so far. If you don't really use a companion at all in conversations he doesn't get a seperate Endslide.

The Radiant Youth
Regarding the most mysterious charachter in the game: Who is he and what is his gameplan? Obviously he is not one of the old gods but he still has tremendous knowdledge about them, seemingly surpassing the Archons. Its strongly hinted in a hidden lorebook that he is Azunai. Though, that still leaves a lot of questions open nor does it really confirm his identity.
