It actually exists. I'm not sure what to think of this.

They did? I don't remember anything like that.

Wait....Chris Avellone left Obsidian?
WorstUsernameEver replied to Longknife's topic in Obsidian General
Not at all. Some locations and plotline from Van Buren were referenced or used as a basis for heavily altered plots, but the main story is completely original. -
Wish him all the best for whatever he decides to do in the future.

I don't care about the XCOM fiction in the slightest, I'm just happy we got procedurally generated maps.

I'm fairly sure they have a good grasp of who gave it to them and how it reached their hands, though obviously they can't go into the specifics because they have to protect their sources.

The Reddit rumor is bull****. There are a lot of holes with it and Kotaku did a good job explaining what they are: http://kotaku.com/latest-popular-fallout-4-rumor-sure-seems-like-bs-1709009561 (plus, it doesn't hurt that they actually know what their own reporting is based on so they can debunk the "IT'S ME, AUSTIN! I WAS THE ONE THAT LEAKED THE CASTING CALLS" spiel from the Reddit "leaker") Otherwise, wouldn't be happy with a voiced protagonist, but I'm happy that Bethesda abandoned the overbearing green tint of Fallout 3 and seems to be taking a stab at doing their own thing with the franchise in terms of setting. We'll get a much better look at the game at E3 so I'm sure there'll be more to discuss then.

Nah, they're definitely working on the expansion, stated as much. They probably had projections on what Pillars of Eternity would sell at a minimum and how much they'd need for an expansion of their scope and the ongoing support of the game, anyway. They did say that news about the expansion would come after E3, though, so I'm guessing that the expansions will be there but shown behind close doors. Not wise to show it off publicly while all the thunder is stolen by AAA, anyway. Difficult to say whether they'll reveal the new project at E3 or not because: 1) we don't know when development started 2) we don't know what kind of scope they're aiming for. If it's mid-tier AAA then yeah, an E3 reveal is possible. If it's another relatively low-budget title than that seems more unlikely (there are other trade fairs that are better for that kind of reveal). I guess we'll see.

Fergus Urquhart had announced it pretty publicly in an interview with PC Gamer. Guess it just slipped most people's minds. (Though I was hoping for news of the expansion, but I'm guessing they're leaving that for when it's closer to release.)

Hopefully, for the future, Obsidian will take a page from inXile's internal constraints for VA and not have lines of voice acting sandwiched between descriptions. Even worse, sometimes the descriptions are in between two consecutive lines of voice acting, so I first have to listen to the lines and then re-read the dialogue as it was originally intended. Love the game, but that was pretty sloppy.

In all honesty, based on those summaries, I think I actually prefer their arcs in the final game. It's a bit disappointing we didn't get to explore the companions' pasts and personalities through more interesting gameplay means (a mental dungeon sounds really cool and would be one of the few gameplay levels that actually leverages the premise of the story), but if it means that the Grieving Mother and Durance's story arcs are leaner, more coherent and more self-contained, I'll take the loss.

New forum feature: Jump to Obsidian developer post
WorstUsernameEver replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Obsidian General
This is nice, but I think it'd also be better if just let you see all Obsidian developer posts in that thread. Right now the feature is all but useless in announcement threads and topics started by Obsidian developers, given it just sends you to the OP, and in other cases it still makes it difficult to follow the developers' reply on a certain topic, given they could potentially be very spaced out. Some fans have come up with developer trackers, which are nice, but I think it'd be nice to have official support on all the boards, assuming it's doable. -
LINK TO PAX EAST STREAM
WorstUsernameEver replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not cool. But true. -
What's weird about that? Person cares about certain things in videogames and asks about them for two different titles that largely cover the same niche.

In which we say farewell to (Ex-) Obsidianities
WorstUsernameEver replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
Good luck with your next endeavors! -
Congrats on the twins!

The Xbox 360 controller should help quite a bit, but you should also keep in mind that in Dark Souls 1 rolls only work in the four cardinal directions, and take advantage of the much longer sprinting time. Let me know if you need explanations on the different mechanics too.
-
Practically, unless you go out of your way to produce results like that, there's little asymmetry involved, Tig. While minor skill usage can bump some characters slightly further, combat and big quest rewards ensure that you'll still level up most characters at the same time.
-
That's most likely a fake. Unexamined (and likely unpaid) application, with a cheesy title to boot? Most probably the product of a bored troll.
-
It's not your level that determines who you get to play with, but your Soul Memory (explanation here, though I think they might have added another tier since then). Also, pretty much none of the DLC areas requires you to play in co-op, not even the ones that have been explicitly designed around the mechanic. If you have problems handling the areas with the summonable NPCs, try going solo: enemies won't get the buff they get when you summon people.

Here is a big reason why v301 "feels better"
WorstUsernameEver replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Sensuki, have you tried starting a game at Normal and checking the BB companions' Health values? They are definitely working as intended for me. -
It's C2B. OF COURSE he remembers MCA's birthday.

Do I get Chris Avellone to write for me if I say happy birthday enough times?
