  1. The exact same thing happened to me. I finished the first little village and was ordered to go to tbe next town. I went there, didn't find what I was supposed to find, forgot what I was about to do and spent 30 hours doing really uninspired FedEx-quests. Then I uninstalled it. About 6 months later I read about the main story on some rpg-site and installed it and forced myself through the main story.. just to find the most anticlimactic ending I've ever seen in a rpg. They just did so many things wrong in Morrowind.
  2. You actually went to Italy.. and ate at a McDonalds. That's just.. oh nevermind.
  3. You'd better check up what's wrong with your memory then. The current estimated world population at the time of writing this is 6,432,422,321 (~6.4 billion). Source: http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/ipc/popclockw
  4. This was the year when we would make our first appearance on E3.. and then we broke free of our publishers and now we can't afford to send anyone there.. yet. Just my luck, huh?
  5. I woudn't mind seeing a sneak peek of Gothic 3, but the developers estimate they've only completed 40% of the game so far, so I guess they don't have too much to show.. yet. I know Typhoon Games will be showing Dungeon Lords.
  6. Still pondering about getting World of Warcraft or not? Well, get a load of THIS: ..and now try to tell me World of Warcraft isn't the best thing since sliced bread?!
  7. I actually think this sounds a lot like Gothic.. Except for the loading times and the lack of exploration. Gothic 3 will be getting more fighting styles too.. And you'll be able to take a job as a gladiator, working your way up from backyard fights to huge Colisseum-like arena fights.
  8. Interested? Only a little.. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=470 The Dungeon Lords demo was an early press version that was released by Dreamcatcher (the publisher) and it was never really intended for the general audience. It's buggy, unbalanced and very unpolished. Also, a lot of features essential to the game weren't included in that demo. CHUK has promised a second demo to be released around the same time the game is released, but the cooperation between Heuristic Park (developers) and Dreamcatcher seem to be.. flawed, so we'll see what happens. I just wish people didn't judge the game too heavily based on that demo, but I suspect the damage is already done. Personally, I didn't have any problems with the demo and have already preordered the game Ps. Also, I love how the development team over at Heuristic Park communicate with their fans. They've made a special list of features that we, the fans, wanted that have been implemented so far. And they update it regularly! I love it (even though my suggestions haven't made it in).
  9. Geez, sometimes you guys scare me with your nerdiness!
  10. The problem is that I don't think Feargus himself has seen this thread.. What a waste of all those neat languages!
  11. The UN is a good idea with a badly implemented system. The five most influential nations (USA, France, UK, China and Russia) have something that's called a veto. That means that even if every other nation in the world vote in favor of an idea, it only takes one veto to stop the idea from happening. This is why people think the UN is 'weak', when in reality it's mostly one nation that's actively trying to ruin the UN reputation: America. Example: In the year 2003, the UN voted for the US-led embargo against Cuba to cease. 179 nations voted for it to stop, 3 nations voted for it to continue (USA, Marshal Islands and Israel). Because USA has a veto, 179 votes didn't mean squat. How's that for democracy? I think it's been 12-13 years straight now that USA has stopped the world opinion in this matter. Funny example: 1987, voting for measures to prevent international terrorism, study the underlying political and economic causes of terrorism, convene a conference to define terrorism and to differentiate it from the struggle of people from national liberation (153 to 2). Interesting to see how the US view on this suddenly changed once their own nation was attacked.. Source: http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/membs...to/vetosubj.htm
  12. Eye candy.
  13. Let's hope this game gets an inventory and a more complex character development system than Jade Empire. I enjoy fiddling with my inventory and developing my own character in the most ridiculous ways! But this game isn't even on the horizon yet, so it's a bit early to worry or long for it.
  14. The Gothic series is nothing like The Elder Scrolls series. Anyhow, this is the game I'm looking forward to the most right now. Of course, since it's still over a year or so until we actually get to play the game, I'm not exactly drooling over it yet. Much will change until 2006. But looking at that list of features.. Man, those guys over at Piranha Bytes sure know what I want to see in a game.. I love that feature list! Of course, the translation sucked, but still! Any game that has a snow area in it gets an extra plus in my book too..
  15. Weird. Everyone seem to think very highly of themselves. You're all way above average. Oh well, here goes: Strength: 12 (work out three times a week, benching 220lbs right now) Dexterity: 10 (play volleyboll and soccer, nothing special though) Constitution: 9 (2 miles takes almost 10 minutes for me..) Intelligence: 12 (scored 138 on www.mensa.dk.. uh..) Wisdom: 8 (intelligence without wisdom is nothing) Charisma: 6 (I annoy everyone, I'm not good with girls and I end up in lots of rl fights)
  16. I always loved the pictures on the Gold Box-edition games. I especially remember the picture on the "Death Knights of Krynn" box. It was awesome. I'll try to find it! Edit: Found it! I also loved this one:

  18. Doom 3 does not have the same 'charm' as the originals did at all. It start out very good (and actually reminded me of a simplified version of System Shock), but from then it's all downhill. I mean, how many dark corners with a healthpack and a spawning monster behind your back can you endure? That game got so old, so fast. I haven't tried the Xbox-version though, but I can only imagine that game with the Xbox-controller.. ugh.
  19. How come you even get some money back? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I usually work very hard during a few months per year (all games I need to review seem to come at the same time) so I earn a lot of money in a short period of time. Then during the next few months I don't work as much and consequently don't earn as much. The tax level I reached during those intense months stays for the entire year though, so I pay a lot of tax even when I'm not earning as much. That's why I get money back. And it's MUCH better to get money back then to have to pay extra tax! I prefer it this way.
  20. Doing one's taxes in Sweden consist of entering two different codes on an internet homepage, and you're done! I did mine the same day it arrived in the mail. It took less than 3 minutes. Also, I'll be getting 750$ back any day now. Sweet!
  21. Where did you read that? In my history books (by an american author, no less) it says the russians were fighting 70% of the german forces, the americans 20% and the rest (10%) were scattered in, for example, Italy, to keep the fascists happy. Where does it say Americans came to rescue..? America didn't join the war until they were attacked themselves. It wasn't out of kindness or ideology. It was out of fear they joined.
  22. You disgusting little fanboi! (Hey, you asked for it)
  23. I would also like to see more free-form games like Morrowind around, but please don't use Morrowind as an example! That game has a very bad reputation around these boards, because of their nonexistant RPG-values.
  24. KotOR took almost exactly 30 hours to get through for me, and I solved every side-quest I could find plus I'm an explorer type, so I got to see everything in the world the game had to offer during those 30 hours. I later tried to play it again, doing the dark-side, but the game didn't change enough between dark-light for it to be fun again. Every review I've read about Jade Empire so far has mentioned that it's a bit on the short side. To me, that means one of two things: either the game really is too short or it's so good that no matter how long it is, people still want more.
  25. Hey, I just got Star Wolves and since the entire package is a game (according to Volourn) I have a question: How do I start the box my CD's came in? I've tried everything, but the box continues to be silent and plastic. Any help appreciated!!
