  1. What I don't understand is why people aren't expecting the same quality of graphics in a RPG as in a FPS? We have the technology, thee are plenty of great artists around and noone gets hurt by having great graphics. So why be happy with just a great story when a game can be so much more?
  2. I am guessing it's taking so long because the patch is very complex. I base this guess on the fact that I've never played a game I've had so many different problems with before. Ever. And I played Daggerfall, before the patches! The weirdest problem I have is that KotOR2 overheats my graphics card! (Yes it's an ATI). I didn't even know that was possible to do by software means! Impressive. Other than that, there are CTD's, black screens, broken quests, broken dialogue choices. I even managed to get my little robot stuck in a wall.. I have faith that Obsidian will fix all these problems though.
  3. Strange thing is.. If I had to pay for this game (my job gives me subscriptions for free) I'm not sure I'd want to play it either. Now, when I dont have to pay for it, it feels like just any ordinary game. If I had to pay for it, that feeling would totally change. I would feel like I had to get something out of the game, since I'm still paying for it, and the fun factor I'm getting out of it just isn't worth that amount of money. The game is clearly designed to drain your time for an eternity to come, and no matter how well Blizzard have been trying to hide that fact, it always shines through in one way or another.
  4. Right now I'm listening to my neighbour trying to drill a hole in the concrete wall between our apartments. Apparently he's using a pneumatic hammer, or else the hole wouldn't be big enough. Or so it sounds.
  5. ESPN Star Wars 2k5
  6. Never ever play a MMORPG and expect roleplaying. When you solve a quest, the quest is reset 2 minutes after you've solved it, and all your hard work is not visible anywhere, except perhaps among your equipment (rewards) or in your quest log. It is a highly disruptive feature of MMORPG's.
  7. Well, it looks fantastic. The problem with games of this scope is that they never seem to be able to fulfill the expectations they build up around themselves. Everyone expects to be able to create worlds and life and end up with a crappy simulator with two controls. Let's hope they can make it as good as they want this time.
  8. That line doesn't exist anywhere in the game. He's just making stuff up to try to make the game fit his "expectations in the bottom".
  9. When I get review copies sent home to me, they don't come (well, most often not) in the original box. Instead they either just lie directly in an envelope or inside a thin, plastic pocket. After a while, these loose CD's tend to pile up and sooner or later they're just bound to become scratched. I sure hope that I'll be able to get a backup once it happens.
  10. We'll see how much they have time to add to the PC-version first. If they can make it longer, more detailed, more fleshed out and able to take advantage of the more powerful PC's, then it might be worth a shot. But a direct port of the Xbox-version is of no interest to me.
  11. I think so. I read somewhere that the original actor had moved to Canada and could not be found! Not sure how much truth lies in those rumours though.
  12. Gothic 2 doesn't have bad grammar. But Kaftan is looking for things to complain about, and YES, there are a few typos in the game. Thing is, you can find the exact same thing in whatever game you play. Even KotOR2 has a few sentences where words are missing! The general quality of the language in Gothic 2 is good, although the voice actors (all three of them, doing 50 voices!) aren't doing a very good job.
  13. You were so prejudiced when you started this game, it didn't matter what the game offered. If you only play agame to "confirm" how bad you think it is, then of course all you're going to find is faults. And that's a very dumb way to play your games or live your life. Gothic/Gothic 2 are two of the most immersive RPG's I've ever played. They're not perfect by any means, but they offer good stories, great worlds and lots and lots to do, see and experience. To even compare them to a MMORPG is just a good example of what you expected beforehand and not what you actually found.
  14. My paladin is now level 53 and I still cant get enough of World of Warcraft. I'm impressed by the sheer amount of detail that's been crammed into this game. Every day I see and do new things, even though I have 11 full days logged! Amazing game.
  15. Wow.. streaming maps and the graphics quality of the Unreal 3 engine.. Almost sounds too good to be true. Now, let's hope someone manages to do a decent game with all this spectacular technology.
  16. http://www.rasterwerks.com/dev.public/phos...alpha_4_248.htm I am sure you'll be as impressed as I am.
  17. You know.. I had no intention of clicking on Rosbjerg's virus-infested wallpaper.. until someone mentioned a nipple.
  18. I have this.. weird version of the gang from Sailor Moon as my background. Just to tease my girlfriend who's a big Sailor Moon fan. It's pretty embarrasing when my male friends come to visit though..
  19. Nice to see so many people including Gothic/Gothic 2 in their top-lists (Take notice, Obsidian developers, and be inspired by the Gothic world!)
  20. Woah.. I always thought I was the only poor sod in the world who bought a C128! I still play with it every summer. I wonder how long my 1571 discdrive will last?
  21. http://thenoob.keenspace.com/ Read it from the beginning (the latest page pops up automatically when you enter the site). It's actually damn funny from time to time. I especially love how the main character got his name 'Ohforf'. If you can figure out how he got it, without reading the comic, you'll earn a gold star!
  22. Guess I'll just hang around on the Dungeon Lords forum from now on then. Me and the handful other people who are interested in the game, despite its non-existant marketing and developer contact. I'll probably return to the Gothic-forums too, once Gothic 3 starts appearing on the horizon. I checked out RPGCodex but it didn't seem like a place I'd enjoy. I refuse to return to RPGDot's forums as long as they have that insane, right-wing, ultra-religious woman as a moderator. I don't even know the adress to the Mistress Lair's, but I'm having a hard time adjusting to forums without a purpose (no developer contact, no particular game to discuss and so on) so it's not very likely I look that one up either. The Bio-boards are awful. I tried to post a little over there when NWN2 moved, but the site is slow, the layout is confusing and every topic that had been discussed over the past months re-surfaced with fresh Bio-weenies asking the same questions we had discussed to death already. Does InXile have a board..? Maybe I'll try my luck there.
  23. WE HAVE NOWHERE TO GO!! We'll all be homeless and smelly by the end of the week.
  24. I don't understand what closing these forums would accomplish.. I like it here, and so do a lot of other people. Does it cost money for Obsidian having these boards up? In that case I might understand them closing us down.
  25. A large, interesting and immersive game world does a lot for me. If the game also manages to have a decent story, I'll love it for the rest of my life.
