  1. Actually, Peter Molyneaux did just that after Fable was released: a few weeks after the release of Fable he posted a public apology for hyping the game too much. I liked that. Warren Spector did the opposite after Deus Ex: Invisible War came out. Almost every fan of Deus Ex thought the sequel stunk, but Spector kept insisting they were wrong and all the changes they'd made (unified ammo, removal of skills, even the crappy graphics engine) were the right ones. To me, that only means he's totally lost his sense for what gamers in general want, and he's also too stubborn to admit (or maybe he doesn't realize it?) when he's wrong. I didn't like that.
  2. The picture you posted is from Europe. It's from Geneve in fact. All the pictures can be found here: http://www.skyandsummit.com/Glacegeneve/ They've been all over the internet the last couple of days and they're really pretty.
  3. Don't flame him, it's very easy to get the impression that Obsidian is secretly developing KotOR3 if you read a lot of.. less trustworthy game news sites. Actiontrip posted a news article recently about Obsidian secretly making KotOR3 for the next-gen consoles. Their source came from here: http://www.gamedreamz.com/index.cgi?m=stories&s=read&id=2572 I wouldn't believe it though. I trust Feargus judgement.
  4. Uhm, yeah, because Bethesda themselves are known for releasing bug-free games.. or not!! Apparently, creating games with few bugs is a lost art nowadays. When I think about it.. I can only remember ONE RPG that didn't require patching after release (not counting console RPG's)! A gold star to anyone who figures out which game that is.
  5. Not to mention The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango and (noone will remember this one) Guild of Thieves!
  6. A good site for more facts about Boiling Point: http://www.boiling-point.net/ Also, I recommend anyone interested in the game to download the movies Seamless world and Vehicles Part 1: http://www.boiling-point.net/index.php?l=e...files/index.php They're well worth seeing.
  7. Nice to see so many people playing Gothic 2
  8. Yeah, but there are examples of when a patch will almost change a game. Devastation comes to mind. That game, when I reviewed it, suffered from horrible physics that made the game very annoying to play, which in turn affected the final score. A month after I'd reviewed it, they released this 102 MB patch that completely changed the physics to the better and the game became much more playable. I would have given the game a better score if I had reviewed it after the patch. Also, I always take bugs into account when reviewing a game. I gave Bloodlines 78% and I probably lowered the final score by 10% because of all the bugs (especially the game-stopping one).

  10. Mind if I ask why not? Just uncomfortable with the monthly fee? A certain feature or problem that you cannot stand? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, this might sound stupid to most veteran MMORPG players around here but.. I hate when a game changes the rules in mid-game! Just like Blizzard has done with the Diablo's, they keep changing (balancing) the classes in World of Warcraft over and over. As soon as you get used to one system, they change it to another. I've been playing a paladin from the start and those poor bastards have been redone more times than I can remember. They are currently patching the game as I am writing this, and the biggest change in the new patch is that they're wimping paladins again (turning Seal of the Crusader from useful to useless, if that tells anyone anything). I used to play a MUD before for six years, and that game suffered from the same problems. One day when you logged in, your class was useful and fun to play. The next day someone had been complaining and your class had been turned into an unplayable piece of junk. Also, I don't feel comfortable paying a monthly fee for any game. I play most games perhaps.. two hours per day, max. Most often I'm playing games I have to review. Paying 15 dollars per month (on top of the purchase price) is just not worth it, especially since the only thing I seem to experience from it is an unstability in classes.
  11. I must confess.. I've played a hentai game once: Kana: Little Sister. In it, you get to have sex with your terminally ill sister. Yeah, it's a different culture alright!
  12. If you really want answers to those questions, I'd bet an email directly to him would be a better choice. He doesn't read these boards on a regular basis (which I'm not expecting him to, because if he did he'd have way too much time on his hands.. like us) but he seems to be a nice enough person. He'd probably answer, unless it was giving away company secrets or something.
  13. I love you, ~Di! Anyhow, I found another preview, this one a little more personal than the rather boring Gamespot one: http://pc.ign.com/articles/582/582322p1.html?ui=watch Note this (from one who has actually played the beta-version): "One of these developers is Heuristic Park, lead by industry veteran D.W. Bradley, which most people will remember from his work on a few of the Wizardry games. Their next game, Dungeon Lords, is an effort to bring RPGs back to the deep adventure bound stories that RPG fans enjoy so much." Of course, it is still an action-RPG, but it sounds awfully close to Gothic-style action, and that's fine by me.
  14. A good summary of what to expect from the game: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dungeonlord...ew_6116941.html Posted January 24'th 2005.
  15. World of Warcraft. Closed Beta. I won't go retail.
  16. That's what they all say..
  17. Actually, I made it past the catacombs. Also, I thought the memory stones were the best part of the story and the only part that affected me personally. But I did trudge on, despite not getting much fun out of the game.. I reached Curst, talked to a lot of people there and was sent down to some underground place (prison perhaps?) before my harddrive crashed and I lost all my save games. I haven't bothered with it since. There's really nothing wrong with the game.. Well, except for the main character, which I dislike, the fact that noone cares that my charisma is 25 (everyone still calls me ugly) and the awful Infinity Engine (and the combat that comes with it). Other than that, I kind of like the mature feel of the game and the planes seemed interesting. If only they had let me explore them too..
  18. So you played it already? Or can you spell prejudice? If you can't come up with anything constructive to write: don't write at all. That's a general tip for all you whiners and crybabies out there. If I start a thread about a particular game that I am interested in, I'm not interested in hearing people not interested in the game telling me how braindead and bad it is. Especially since noone has played it yet. By the way, isn't it fun to see people call games "brainless" to make themselves look smart? It never works, but it's a cute newbie mistake.
  19. DREAMCATCHER GAMES ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE DATE FOR DUNGEON LORDS The First Combat RPG Will Be Available April 2005 DreamCatcher Games today announced that Dungeon Lords, the world's first combat role-playing game, will ship worldwide for Windows
  20. I want bigger maps without loading times everywhere.
  21. Dungeon Lords will be released in April. I think. Project: Snowblind will be released in February. It might be the next Deus Ex. KotOR2 will be released in February. Of course. Those are the only ones even slightly close on my gaming horizon. STALKER is supposed to come in May.. I don't believe it though.
  22. Finally someone with at least one quality title on his computer! I love that game! Anyhow, my installs right now: Everquest 2 (For review purposes only, I promise!) World of Warcraft (Closed beta) The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (Made by Starbreeze Studios, from Uppsala, Sweden) Freedom Force (Bought this cheap, and it turned out it doesn't work under Windows XP SP2! Waiting for a patch..) Project Eden (Another bargain bin find.. haven't played it much yet) Wasteland (I always have this one installed, if only to roll new characters )
  23. You know, almost everyone's a communist if you ask the right questions. Yet almost everyone says "I hate communists!".. I suspect a lot of people don't know what it means to believe in communism. Communism is a good system that is easily abused by ruthless people. If everyone had equally high moral standards, communism would probably work. In a perfect world.. When I lived in a dorm I used to annoy my right-wing dorm mates by asking them all these leading questions (where I knew how they would answer) and then silently show them the definition of a communist. When they realized they'd answered the questions "the communist way" they almost started crying. At least they all became very angry. Great fun back in the day!
