  1. You weep a lot, huh?
  2. Yeah, you're in a great position to tell anyone they don't have a clue after getting every argument of yours stripped naked and spanked blue for the last 5 pages Armoured vests save lives. It's as simple as that. Not having a vest = higher risk of losing your life. 40 million dollars might not have been enough to buy everyone a vest, but a few thousand soldiers would have been safer at least.
  3. I remember hoping that Deus Ex: Invisible War would be as good as Deus Ex, but I kind of followed the development of that title so I wasn't too surprised when it turned out to be crap. But I really want another game in the same style as Deus Ex and equally good.
  4. The only bugs that really bother me are the game stopping ones. Or when there are enough bugs to make it feel like I'm walking on a mine-field (you never know when the game just blows up in your face). Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a good example. I was having a blast until I had to board that boat and was greeted by my own desktop image.
  5. Yeah, I hadn't thought about it, but the only game I've reviewed this month is Everquest 2.. and that's a month old by now, if not more.
  6. Yeah, I'd recommend playing Gothic before Gothic 2, but it's not a must. Also, everytime you play an older game you have to get used to older graphics, although in Gothic's case it's not so bad since the graphics are still quite acceptable. Gothic 2 is a fun game on its own, but if you play it after getting to know everyone and their stories in Gothic it becomes even more fun! It's almost like meeting old friends again in Gothic 2
  7. How did you manage the journal puzzle? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't really remember. I only made it as far as Underground Curst before the game bored me to tears, so perhaps it was after that?
  8. What an argument.. because ballistic armour doesn't protect against all types of calibers it's somehow an excuse for the government to not buy armour to their troops? Uh.. ok. Most armour won't protect you if you're hit spot on from close range. But most shot wounds aren't that clean (unless you somehow find yourself on an open field, the wind stops blowing and a sniper gets his sights on you). Most often the shooter has to fire from the side or misses his aim a little or even misses completely but the ricochet hits the target instead. That's when ballistic armour is a lifesaver. Against high velocity weapons, there's not an armour in the world that will save you, since even being hit in the hand means your intestants come flying out of your groin.
  9. I heard Valve spent nearly 40 million dollars on developing Half-Life 2.. I'm not sure Obsidian has that amount of cash just yet. Oh, and that's assuming they aim to create a Half-Life-2-killer RPG..
  10. Well, most people think the immersion is what's special about Gothic. Also, the gameworld is very large, detailed and beautiful. The NPC's have routines (like in Ultima VII) and they eat, sleep, chat and even go to the toilet once in a while. Just as in Fallout, the games (Gothic and Gothic 2) are very open-ended and the entire world is available to you from the beginning. Another thing worth mentioning are the controls. Most people find them rather awkward and they take some getting used to, but if you spend those 15 minutes it takes to learn them you're rewarded with a great game.
  11. Uhm.. that's dumb. I didn't die even once and I fought my butt off to keep it that way. And now you're telling me you're supposed to die a few times?! Gaah, I hate that game!
  12. All I need in a Fallout game is a feeling of desperation, a post apocalyptic world, real life weapons and that gritty, hopeless atmosphere. If it's non linear, has a great story and interesting NPC's, all the better. I don't care which ruleset is used or which view is used to depict the game or even if the combat is realtime or turnbased.
  13. It's odd. Everytime one of these discussions occur, those who are called "left-wing" always seem to be the ones with links and facts, while the ones who are referred to as "right-wing" claim things but very seldom back it up with any links or proof. Why is that?
  14. What?! You're from Austria and you don't have the Gothic-games on your list? Blasphemy!
  15. Hahaha, that was damn funny! That right wing FOX reporter gets uglier and uglier the more angry she gets. At the end of the clip she looks like a Medusa.
  16. Actually, both Fallout's became ridiculously easy once I found my first automatic weapon. Weird thing is that the same thing happened in Wasteland.. Must be difficult to balance automatic weapons or something.
  17. I loved the technology of the first Dungeon Siege! I mean, no loading times and streaming maps could mean you've got a fantastic world to explore, limited only by the imagination of the designers and space on the DVD's. Unfortunately, they forgot to add a game to the impressive technology. When you can win all fights in the game by pressing four buttons (fight long distance, fight melee, drink health potions, drink mana potions) and the maps are shaped like one long corridor (except the swamp level), you know something is horribly wrong. The graphics were good though.
  18. Are you talking about GTA: San Andreas? That's certainly not all you do in that game, not even in the first half hour of gameplay. You can do more in GTA: SA than you can do in just about any RPG I can think of. And you often have more freedom while doing those things. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, how many RPG's have a Dance Dance Revolution part baked into it?!
  19. I would suggest getting Gothic (difficult to find) and Gothic 2. If you enjoy immersive worlds and world exploration then those games are definitely for you. Also, they have quite decent graphics and might not be as difficult to adjust to as, say, Fallout.
  20. Actually, it is more like 10 hours long, according to one of my Halo-loving friends. That's about the same length as Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (a very short game). Nasty.
  21. Sometimes, when I'm looking for a good RPG, I begin to wonder why I even bought a Playstation 2. Then Rockstar works their magic and release yet another GTA and I'm in heaven for 2-3 years. By the way, does anyone know of any good RPG's for the Playstation 2..? Preferrably one with a huge world, exploration and a pretty non-linear story. I've only found one RPG like that so far (Road Trip - A Road Adventure) and would very much like to find another one.
  22. Perhaps if they started a few new sections on this board, but without the Neverwinter Nights 2-references? Like perhaps a "Obsidian Graphics & Art discussions", a "Obsidian Story & Writing suggestions" and so on? Much like the ones we used to have, but without the Neverwinter Nights 2 logos, just so we'll be able to communicate with the developers?
  23. I don't understand.. When we posted in the Neverwinter Nights 2 forum on this board, we could get answers from the developers sometimes. It was highly informative and.. entertaining. (It was especially fun to torment Brian Lawson in the Graphics and Art discussions) Will the developers now go to the Bioware boards to answer questions and endure torment?
  24. Haha, that is the ugliest computer case I've ever seen! But the specs of the computer inside are really nice. Very nice GPU!
