  1. No matter. I REALLY like that picture anyhow. I'd probably have bought the game, based on only the cover art!
  2. It is strangely enough not out yet in Sweden (at least not in Tradition or Game in Uppsala) and I haven't been sent a review copy either. But I'm not sure they're supposed to be sending it to me. We'll see. I'll probably pick it up on Saturday if it doesn't arrive in the mail tomorrow.
  3. http://godlovesphelps.com/ Hahaha, I love the background colour
  4. Did you scream at the top of your lungs and stomp your feet too at the same time? I can only imagine how you came up with this trick..
  5. Healthy having a hobby, yes. An obsession, no.
  6. Wow, I got a pretty good email today, telling me that I'm getting the retail version of World of Warcraft sent home to me tomorrow, with a press-pass that allows me to play the game for free for 6 months! Also, since we're friends with the PR-guy, he added that it would be no problem to pro-long the account if we needed more time Looks like I'll be playing World of Warcraft after all! Woo!
  7. Wow, I'm gone for a few hours and the thread is shorter than when I left it? What happened? Anyhow, to add to my list of games that I forgot about: Bubble Bobble, Barbarian 1&2, Uridium, The Last Ninja 1&2 and uh.. I forgot them again, damn.
  8. Soulbringer isn't so bad. I loved the graphics (snow!) and the intro, but the game is very difficult and has some mean problems to solve. Also, it is heavily combat oriented, and you create your own combos to use in combat. One highly irritating thing is that no matter how fast your monster computer is, the game is always slow going from the playing screen to the inventory screen. At least give it a try when you're done with the great games, you might like it. It is not at all like Diablo, that's for sure. For more info: http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,3/gameId,3095/
  9. Nooo, stop it, you're scaring me! Mommy!
  10. I didn't bother mentioning any names from my FieldMarshal-list.. They were like Napoleon, Hitler, Caligula..
  11. Simply not true. The Commodore 64 had 8 sprites (moving parts) that were 21x16 pixels (approximately, don't remember exactly) with max 3 colours, of which 2 had to be the same for all sprites. Also, only 4 of those sprites could have different images at the same time. The resolution for the entire screen was 160x240 (I think) and you had 16 colours to choose from! There was no way developers could spend any resources or time on graphics. I won't even mention sound (except that it had 3 channels..) since I assume you get the point already. So what did the developers do instead of work on graphics/sound? They had to sell the games with something so they made the games fun. Pure fun. I personally don't know what makes one game fun and another game boring, but I do know the games of the past offered truck-loads of fun. I still have my Commodore 128 intact, and every summer I pack it up and replay some of my favourite games (Games I forgot in my last list: Bubble Bobble, Paradroid, The Last Ninja 1&2, Barbarian 1&2, Uridium, and so on). And every year I'm equally surprised by how much fun these old games really are! The loading times are horrendous, the graphics are less than impressive, and the sound is so primitive it sometimes hurts my ears.. but the games are still fun, playable and fantastic. And to say games have evolved: pure bs. The games are exactly the same, if not even simpler. The only thing that's evolved is the presentation. Graphics and sound are light years better than they were, but the stories, the gameplay and the general ideas are still the same. Doom 3 is not a better game than Sanxion.
  12. Hey, someone had to document the whole thing! "
  13. Well, that depends if I get the free review copy sent to me or not.. (I might even end up buying it though..)
  14. 1. Apparently we're all just bi-products of a primordial soup that's evolved into what we are today through millions of years of mutations. 2. The purpose of life is to be happy, live a good life and try to make the world a better place. 3. Any way that makes you happy (within the rules of society)! 4. We cease to exist. Nothing more spectacular than that. 5. Logical conclusions. I'm open for other suggestions, though, if someone can provide enough proof.. 6. It is difficult to respect people who choose to go through life, following someone elses rules and obligations. It seems as such a waste. Why waste your life based on a promise of a better "after-life"? 7. Definitive proof. God showing up to shake my hand or something.
  15. The Portrait of the FieldMarshal Rational (eNTj): ...Hardly more than two percent of the total population, the Fieldmarshals are bound to lead others, and from an early age they can be observed taking command of groups. In some cases, Fieldmarshals simply find themselves in charge of groups, and are mystified as to how this happened. But the reason is that Fieldmarshals have a strong natural urge to give structure and direction wherever they are -- to harness people in the field and to direct them to achieve distant goals. They resemble Supervisors in their tendency to establish plans for a task, enterprise, or organization, but Fieldmarshals search more for policy and goals than for regulations and procedures. Obey me, my underlings! (at least it would explain why I always seem to take command of the groups in World of Warcraft..)
  16. A few screenies from the last day of the beta, The Day of Judgement: Stormwind is being attacked by demons: The fighting reaches its peek, with two Felguard Elites wreaking havoc: The aftermath (skeletons are remains of fallen players):
  17. Yeah, and this is also the reason why MMORPG's will never work. One particular quest in World of Warcraft reminded me of this, because it was about helping this poor girl escape from her childhood home and abusive father. I secretly helped the girl and sent her on her way with her boyfriend. Then I go back to the house and she has spawned there again and is asking some other player for help.. Gee, that really helps my game immersion.. NOT! Seeing quests respawn like that makes everything you do in the game feel meaningless. I prefer single player RPG's.
  18. I had to vote 8-bit, even though the poll failed to mention one of the biggest computer phenomenons ever: the Commodore 64. Wasteland, Pool of Radiance, Wizball, Guild of Thieves, Mean Streets, Ikari Warriors, Sanxion, Delta, Turrican I&II, The Pawn, all Infocom adventures, Maniac Mansion, Impossible Mission, Questron 2, Mars Saga, Ultima I-V, S.E.U.C.K., Elite, Arkanoid, Mercenary, Morpheus, Fire Lord, Dragon Age, and so on. Those were some really good years for gaming (1987-1991)..
  19. No. As a blacksmith you have to choose between making armour or weapons, so I think all professions have to make a choice at one point. No, unfortunately not.
  20. The most difficult game I've ever played must be Army Moves on my old Commodore 64. I don't think I ever cleared the first level!
  21. No, KotOR isn't in the top ten. 10. Grim Fandango 9. System Shock 2 8. Far Cry 7. Fallout/Fallout 2 6. Pool of Radiance 5. Daggerfall 4. GTA: San Andreas 3. Deus Ex 2. Gothic/Gothic 2 1. Wasteland I've noticed that my absolute favourites move around some, depending on which mood I am in. The top three are pretty static though. Also, I hate doing these top ten lists! There are so many great games I've forgotten about at the moment and I'm sure this list will change if I think a while longer.
  22. Dutch to me: "Nederlaands normaaal, apaaaaarte, helemaaaaaaaal nergens om." You couldn't add another "a" even if you tried!
  23. But maybe the art-work could be salvaged? Perhaps the scripting (if they used some sort of script language within the game)? Animations? Maps? Character design? Dialogue and story? There are lots of features they should be able to use, even if the game-engine itself might be getting old.
  24. Look, I "stole" your post by replying to you. Does it make you hurt? Do you see everything in black and white?
