  1. I think it's just a "The geekier you are, the blacker the picture becomes" thing. If you're a total geek, then you'll know what every one of those expressions mean and you'll have to fill them all in.. Luckily for me I only understood Rob Hubbard (Commodore 64 music composer), SYS 64738 (Commodore 64 command), and '3d6 + 1d4'.
  2. The second Max Payne wasn't as good as the first. Also, it was VERY short. The most fun thing about that game was that it had the Havok physics engine, so you could basically have fun just blowing things up and pushing furniture around. I guess we'll see if the first Max Payne was a one hit wonder for Remedy or if they can repeat the success with Alan Wake (hate the name).
  3. Gunners for LIFE! (I have Ljungberg underwear on right now! Imagine that for a second..)
  4. I use NOD32 as my anti virus. It's extremely fast and resource efficient (and was quite cheap too) but it's never caught a virus yet. Does that mean I never get any virus or that it just doesn't work well..? HMM.
  5. A bit off topic, but somewhat related: The cutest thing I ever saw was when my girlfriend was writing some posts on the Still Life message boards (because that game has the weirdest ending ever) and she ran across a post made by a 73 year old woman who had gotten stuck in an action part of the game.. 73! I hope I'm still playing games by that age (if I ever grow that old). Original post: http://www.stilllife-game.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=421
  6. To me a trekker is someone who is dumb enough to walk out into the wilderness with too little food and a cold tent, then comes back after a week, bragging about all the dangers and starvation he's been through. Geez, why would I be impressed by someone who is stupid enough to put himself in danger?! STUPID TREKKERS. Erm. Right.
  7. The trekkies have hijacked the thread!!
  8. I come here for the hot chicks.
  9. Weird. I didn't see anything in those trailers that seemed extraordinary or unique. It's just.. well-directed movies. And I hate when they show the main character doing some complicated moves, like dodging bullets, doing a somersault over a sofa and at the same time rescuing some overly busty girl. You just know that's not gonna happen in the game, only in the cut-scenes. It's probably going to be another action game with spectacular graphics. Ho hum..
  10. I once got massive jetlag and slept for 26 hours straight. My girlfriend thought I was going to starve to death so she woke me up after 26 hours. I wonder how long I would have slept if nothing had disturbed me.
  11. They do. And they are probably the ones fragging your arse, too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is a popular myth. Everyone wants "girls who can frag your ass" to exist, but in reality they don't. Unless you're actually considering those 0.001% to be a vital part of the demographics..
  12. Weird. I thought I was the only one using Quintessential Player. It's a good media player. Irfanview is another one of my favourite free programs. I open EVERYTHING in that application. From flash files to text files, to every graphics format known to man. It's awesome (and yes, it plays movies and MP3 too)!
  13. Ok, I've played a little Jade Empire on my cousins newly bought Xbox, and after only an hour or so into the game, I can with 90% certainty say that it doesn't belong among my Top Ten favourites of all time. There are lots of annoyances in this game that I'm sure not everyone likes. For example, lots of the maps aren't only static, they're worse! I absolutely HATE when I see a space between two rocks (for example) but I can't walk between them because the map is so confined that even though you're in a forest, it feels like you're walking in a corridor. Talk about immersion breaker. Also, it took me 5 minutes to figure out the fighting. An enemy attacking you? Jump around! The enemy will then proceed to walk towards the last spot you stood on and then fruitlessly punch the air where you were 3 seconds ago. And this works everytime so far! I was attacked by 8 guys outside a village (one with a sword, I think) but only a few of them actually attacked me at the same time, so I kept jumping and getting the odd blow on someone every now and then, and finally I won. It looked and was ridiculous. The AI in this game is bad. Why didn't any reviews mention this? The characters in the game are awesome though. Not only do they look human (for the most part), but they also lip sync well (not Half-Life 2 class, but good) and seem to have interesting back stories. I just helped and lost Dawn Star (I think her name was) but I'm sure I'll be seeing more of her next week, when me and my cousin plan to have another Xbox-evening. So far a highly enjoyable game, but nothing jaw dropping or earth shattering.
  14. It is supposed to be fully automatic, but apparently this system doesn't work for a lot of people. Therefore, a lot (if not all) of the patches released are also released as stand-alone packages. So "Both" I think answers your question.
  15. Planescape: Torment brand new for 99 SEK (7,24 GBP or 10,59 EUR). Fallout 1 & 2 brand new for 99 SEK (7,24 GBP or 10,59 EUR). Baldur's Gate + Tales of the Sword Coast brand new for 149 SEK (10,90 GBP or 15,95 EUR). Baldur's Gate 2 + Throne of Bhaal brand new for 189 SEK (13,83 GBP or 20,23 EUR). Icewind Dale brand new for 99 SEK (7,24 GBP or 10,59 EUR). Heart of Winter Expansion brand new for 129 SEK (9,44 GBP or 13,81 EUR). Crap. I just noticed they don't ship outside Sweden! After all that work writing.. Argh. Oh well, maybe some swede finds some use in these links. Webhallen is a great company at least, and I order all my private games from there.
  16. Keep writing, but stick to IP's you create. You blasphemed Star Wars!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean like the Planescape setting..?
  17. ^The ultimate sign you're a true internet geek.
  18. Did anyone watch the movie Once Were Warriors? I saw that movie at a theatre and by the midpoint of the movie, the entire audience was crying (uhm.. except me, of course). When the end scene was played out, the audience was no longer crying, they were bawling, hulking and sniffing. It was insane. Luckily for me, I concentrated on watching the ceiling instead of the actual movie..
  19. You should get The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. It really is an excellent game, even though the movie it is based on is pure crap. Edit: Doh. Stupid SpamBaley.
  20. This must be the Sissy Olympics! Geez. (Although I did get something in my eye when Julia Roberts stood in front of Hugh Grant in "Notting Hill" and said "I'm just a girl..". Damn those dusty movie theaters!)
  21. I don't think it's pathetic at all. My grandfather passed away a couple of years back, and at a swedish funeral it's customary to read all the telegrams and condoleances before eating (after the funeral 'rituals' are completed). Anyhow, my grandfather had a huge box of condoleances from all over the world. It took over two hours to read through them all! He didn't talk much and we never discussed things like his friends or social network, but it seems he left a huge imprint on people he met. People he worked with fifty years ago remembered him and sent their condoleances. People he met during travels forty years ago remembered him and sent their condoleances, and so on. I was so impressed, and it felt so weird to find out how important my little grandfather was to so many people he had met throughout his life. It was a humbling experience.
  22. Just a quick reality check (don't want a flame war): point me in the direction of where you posted a meaningful (not off topic post that actually added something to the discussion) in, for example, this thread. Remember, this is a thread that was originally started as a place for us to discuss politics. Just quote a post of yours you think was meaningful in the political discussion.
  23. I really think that the original poster (Carth Vader) should widen his horizons a little and take a long, hard look at Guild Wars. It seems those who've played it are awed by it, and it's also gotten some pretty sweet reviews.
