  1. I have an aluminum baseball bat.. I'm safe. Unless they're like the zombies in 28 Days Later, in which case I'm screwed.
  2. I must go with Dog. I was so amazed the first time I met him, that huge pile of junk metal. He moves sooo good, and the interaction between him and Alyx is fantastic. Then, later, when you get to play throw-and-fetch with him.. wow.. Just wow. It's just too bad he's only used a few times during the actual game, although when he is being used, it's some of the most intense and cinematic experiences in the entire game. Dog for president!
  3. This is the reason why the copyright laws need to be rewritten for computer based media. Who in the world can make money off of 20 year old computer software? Noone. And then it's only 50 more years to go before it becomes free-ware. Why not make it default 10 years, with the option for the author to extend the license if need be? That way, you wouldn't break any laws when you're reliving your youth through old games (that you have to download, because it's the only option) and the copyright holders would still have complete control over their intellecual properties. I've tried finding a new copy of The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall for ages now, but the only ones selling off of Ebay are going for like.. 1000$ each. Those damn collectors..
  4. Sorry, troll, but where did I use the term "evidence"? I just explained where I got the useless information from (that's the topic, not useless trolling) and at the end I clearly stated that it was just an ad, which you conveniently missed.
  5. Yeah, it's weird, all this talk about loading times. A PC might have loading times, but to me, consoles are the ones without loading times! My PS2 doesn't have any loading times worth mentioning. I just put in the DVD, pick up the hand control, and 10 seconds later I'm playing the game. Same with my friend's Gamecube. How come the Xbox has long loading times? Does it get better if you transfer your games to the harddrive? Ps. I remember playing Pool of Radiance on my Commodore 64.. Now THAT's loading times!
  6. I actually saw a video of someone performing this experiment on the internet, but I couldn't find it now. But since I've seen it, I'm sure it'll turn up again. Somewhere. Found it: http://www.big-boys.com/articles/makesyouthink.html Of course, it's an ad (informative, about global warming), but still..
  7. If you pour boiling water on a frog, it immediately jumps away to avoid getting cooked. If you very slowly heat the water around the frog instead, it doesn't jump away. It just sits there and stares until it dies.
  8. TYPICAL. And we're not going this year! This was supposed to be the year when I attended E3.. Geez, just my luck. Better luck next year, I guess.
  9. Each christian cross on top of the two spires of the Uppsala domkyrka (some kind of large church) weighs ~500 kg. (~1100 lbs.).
  10. 1.2 gallon of moonshine in a plastic container. Basically.
  11. The one thing I remember about Mountain Dew is a story one of my american female friends told me. I visited her in the summer of 1998, and somewhere along the trip I bought a bottle of Mountain Dew. She told me she couldn't even stand the smell of Mountain Dew, and I asked her why. It turned out her ex-boyfriend used to drink a lot of that stuff, but one summer it was really hot and he sat in front of his computer all the time, doing nothing but drink Mountain Dew and play Star Craft (I think). After a few weeks of him doing that, she broke up with him. So I said, "Ok, that would make you mad at your ex, but why hate Mountain Dew?", to which she replied, "When I gave him fellatio he had drunk so much Mountain Dew even his ... tasted like that stuff!". I didn't drink any more Mountain Dew after that.
  12. Oh yeah, that's a great game! Do you play it on computer or console? Ps. No, the difference isn't notable right now, but in the future it will be.
  13. Let's just hope Piranha Bytes makes an appearance on E3. Then we'll get a flood of new pictures and movies and what not. It feels a little weird though.. The Gothic games have always had average graphics (and way above average art design) so I don't understand why they're suddenly aiming at being at the top of the graphic food chain. The best thing about the graphics in both Gothic and Gothic 2 was, according to me, the amazing viewing distance. It wasn't as spectacular as Far Cry, but you could still stand on a mountain and admire a town in the valley below. I loved that. I hope that'll still be possible in Gothic 3.
  14. I remember there was some very strange goblin in hidden in one of the first towns that always had 5000 gold. The problem in Morrowind was never finding equipment worth gold, the problem consisted of finding a salesman with enough gold to actually afford to buy those expensive items from you. Most salesmen had around 500-1000 gold. Except for that very odd goblin. If you find him and use him, you'll be able to quickly make yourself economically independent.
  15. Make love, not war! (Swedish princess, Madeleine)
  16. I once had to sort these numbered cards into their respectively numbered slots on a job interview. The numbers on the cards and slots were like 348765 and 348675 and 347865, meaning they were VERY similar to each other and could easily confuse you. Then they said "You have two minutes to sort 100 cards, starting now. Good luck." I just threw my cards randomly into the slots. The funny thing though, is that the test didn't really matter, and I knew it wasn't a big deal. They just wanted to see how we reacted under pressure. One guy became all white in the face, his hands started shaking horribly and after a while he couldn't even hold the cards and they fell everywhere. Then he gave up and walked out of the room, sobbing. It was damn funny.
  17. Oohh, a new NHL game.. Actually, they could as well just release NHL 2004 in a new, shiny box, call it NHL 2006 and I'd still buy it, play it and be totally satisfied. Ignorance is bliss.
  18. GTA: San Andreas for the PC. I've read a lot about it and it seems I'm going to have to buy this version too, just because of how they'll really take advantage of the PC this time (sharper textures, longer drawing distance and so on). Lovely! (In a distant future: Dungeon Lords, Stalker and Gothic 3)
  19. Yes, those forums. The reason I'm asking is because some of the people here seem quite knowledgeable about Gothic and Piranha Bytes.. Just checking to see if anyone here is someone I might have discussed this with before. I left the Gothic forums after Gothic 2 was released in Sweden, but I've been thinking about returning there.. If I can get used to the very low english language standards there again.
  20. You, Baley, are the reason I wish they'd remove the post counter altogether. It seems you post everywhere right now, with more intention of getting that number up than actually adding to the discussion. Anyhow, just a quick question: is anyone here but me registered at the official Gothic forums too?
  21. A bit off topic, but.. Got to love that you managed to misspell the word 'professional' too!
  22. No not really...the general style is kinda similar...free world...hundreds of NPC...same types of camera view. Just that Gothic was a far better game ...while G2 was IMO as bad as MW <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, Gothic/Gothic 2 didn't have "hundreds" of NPC's. They had quite a few interesting characters, but I guess the total amount would be around 100 or less. Also, the characters in the Gothic universe felt like real people, as they had different schedules and tasks and personalities. In Morrowind, every NPC was the same, and you could get the same information from a child as from a cityguard or a shopkeeper. The "dialogue" system seen in Daggerfall/Morrowind must be the worst ever in any computer RPG series.
  23. I think different sorts of pasta is what you should order while in Italy.. or something. Not that the pasta was that good when I was there. Strange, maybe they just don't have any really good food in Italy?! And yes, italian pizza was actually just a way to use the left-overs that had gathered in the last couple of days. That's what it was meant to be, originally.
  24. Maybe some people still remember Daggerfall and believe Bethesda can make an immersive game like that once again with Oblivion? I am hoping Morrowind was just a one time failure (probably because they underestimated just how much work it would take to fill such a huge world with interesting stuff) and that they go back to the successful formula they used in Daggerfall. They have promised to focus more on fewer but much more detailed NPC's (one of the main problems in both Daggerfall and Morrowind) and if they can stay away from the ridiculously huge dungeons of Daggerfall and the totally pointless mini-dungeons of Morrowind, then they'll do fine. Unless they release a buggy mess that's almost unplayable.. (Arena).
