Geez, not Yannic Perreault again (Leafs already had him for 3 years)! WE NEED A HIGH SCORING WINGER, DAMNIT! Edit: NHL.com reports that Scott Stevens is retiring..? http://www.nhl.com/news/2005/09/234044.html Tough blow for the Devils. First Niedermayer and now Stevens.

I just realized that I've never pressed that button. Not even once.

Why do some RPG players live under the impression that they are more intelligent than other players just because they like one dying genre of computer games?

I'm not sure I'd want it on PC after playing through the Xbox-version. It's not exactly a classic.. Of course, at least the shoot'em up portion of the game might run better on a powerful PC and you wouldn't have to see the game hit single digit fps during critical moments.

Gothic & Gothic 2 (& soon Gothic 3) Daggerfall Deus Ex System Shock 2 KotOR & KotOR 2 And, if you can stand really old games: Wasteland Ultima IV & V

I don't think the gameplay of NHL 2002-2005 is very different in any of the versions. Sure, they keep toying about with defensive and offensive numbers in the background, making every version slightly more dependant on a good defense some years and a good offense in other years, but the core game (hockey!) is still basically the same. The small (or completely unnecessary) changes they make from year to year is certainly not worth the amount of money they demand every year for the new version! The reason I still keep buying the new version year after year (yes, I am getting NHL 2006) is because they keep updating the rosters. They could easily make the game an empty framework, where you could download daily rosters (or changes to the roster) and the same game engine would work for years to come, but why would they? Idiots like me keep spending $50 every year on basically nothing anyhow.

For me, having only the key characters in a game fully voiced, makes those characters tend to stick out too much. It feels like walking through a world of mutes and then suddenly happen upon someone who can talk. Sure, it might make the characters memorable, but is that really a good thing? Wouldn't it be cooler if you remembered the character because of its fantastic dialogue lines or its fascinating personality, instead of only remembering it because it was the only creature with a voice in a world of mutes?

Datsyuk signed with a russian club today. He was saying that he wanted at least $6 million to return to Detroit, and Detroit 'only' offered him 5.. The guy was comparing himself to Thornton and Heatley, and although I think Datsyuk is a really talented hockey player with a very bright future, that might still be a bit.. optimistic of him. He's not quite a Thornton or Heatley yet. This is a problem though. Zetterberg and his agent postponed their dealings with Detroit for a few days to wait until the Detroit-Datsyuk situation solved itself. With Datsyuk gone, I am sure Detroit are quite keen on keeping Zetterberg.. and Toronto is out of the game again. Damn.

I love full voice acting. There's no reason for a game to not have it, no matter if the game has a lot of dialogue or not. Voice actors aren't paid by the word, they're paid by the hour they spend in the recording studio. Spend a few extra dollars and make those extra dialogue lines fully voiced too. Just as I see 3D graphics as the next natural step for more complete immersion in a game, I see all spoken dialogue as the next step in the sound department. The only real problem I see with full voice acting is that it's much harder for developers to change (or add) dialogue late in the production, because it would demand the voice cast to come in again for those extra lines. And that might cost a bit.

I say no. Does society really need yet another personality changing chemical? The reason alcohol is allowed while pot isn't is easy. There are three criterias that all drugs are rated in: how poisonous they are to the system, how easy it is to become addicted and if they change one's personality (the most dangerous criteria). Alcohol scores high on poisonous, scores very high on personality changing effects but scores very low on addictiveness. Not everyone can become addicted to alcohol (some say it's genetics) and considering how many people drink alcohol, the ratio of alcoholics is actually very low. Pot on the other hand.. It scores high on poisonous, it scores high on personality changing effects and it scores medium on addictiveness. It fills every criteria for being narcotics. Useless knowledge: which substance is one of the easiest to become addicted to, gives one of the most difficult addictions to break free from and is still legal? Answer:

I'm betting my old machine can't even get this up and running sensibly in anything above 800x600 and since it's 'only' an FPS, I haven't bothered with trying the demo. It does look kind of original though. Read it was developed by a french team.

The PS3 without a HD? Guess what the Xbox 360 ...

Actually.. I'd just want to rub his face in it. -
Wasteland uses the PC internal speaker (blip blop!!) so you don't really need speakers or headphones to play it. Of course, those sounds are more annoying than anything, but if you have that rare talent of being able to pick up an extremely old game and become immersed in it, I'd say go for it. Wasteland is one of those rare great games that only seem to come along once every 10 year or so.

Every spring, when there's lots of snow on the ground, the sun is still barely managing to climb over the horizon, and there's that unmistakable spring feeling in the air (when the snow is actually starting to decrease instead of increase) I'm almost transported back to my youth (1988!) and an especially happy period of my life. Every day during that period I longed to get home from school to play Pool of Radiance with my best friend. The clear, cold air, the weak sun (painting the sky yellow-reddish) and the sparkling, melting snow brings back all that.

I've never seen a kinder looking dinosaur. I want to hug and cuddle it!!1!

The original Starship Troopers that came out in 2000 is actually one of the few action RTS's I've enjoyed playing. It was buggy, but I survived Daggerfall (I should get a t-shirt with that printed on) so to me it didn't seem so bad. You basically were given a bunch of soldiers in a 3D world and had to try and make them survive through mission after mission that closely resembled (parts of) the first movie.

PS3 maybe has Mouse and Keyboard support
mkreku replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
I want the console that has the most Unreal 3-engine games! I mean, super graphics combined with the streaming map technology that Epic has been touting! It sounds like a dream come true for me.. if developers actually take advantage of what the new technology brings and implements massive worlds in every game they release. Enough of the KotOR/Jade Empire/Neverwinter Nights micro maps already! -
What are you arguing about? The fact is that noone knows what MDK really stands for since the developers chose not to reveal it! It doesn't matter what's most likely or what MDK traditionally stands for, because no matter what, it all becomes assumption once you prescribe a meaning to the game's name MDK. We'll just have to live with the fact that we don't know what it stands for (unless, by some miracle, the developers decided to reveal its true meaning now, years later) and go with whatever assumption suits our tastes.

Weird. I never played any D&D character I liked higher than level 8 I think. That was the cap for Pool of Radiance. After that the characters became too powerful and all the fun went out the window. This was in 2E by the way.

Bah. I know for a fact that my girlfriend is at least twice as smart as me even though her head is much smaller than mine. That's all I need to know.

I wonder what's up in NHL-land? Still 140+ players not signed and nothing seems to be happening. I mean, there are even some big names unsigned as of yet (Bondra, come to Toronto, you know you want to!). As soon as the Leafs settles the Nolan dispute, they will have some room to move again. Leafs desperately needs high scoring wingers!

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=60737 Lots of interesting info about the Xbox 360. If anyone's interested. It's too bad both these new consoles will be so damn expensive. I don't think I can afford both, and I might even end up with the Xbox 360 if it turns out it'll be getting a lot of good games AND be much cheaper the PS3. We'll see. -
r00fles indeed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I almost never find anything written by EnderWiggin funny, but.. HAHAHA!! )

I'm going to have to borrow that damn Xbox, turn up the difficulty a notch and get myself buried in all those missed side-quests. Grr.
