FEAR went gold today and will be in store shelves on October 18th.

That brown stuff coming from Volourn isn't mud..

Yeah, this constant gushing over a good but not great RPG is annoying. And the longer the fanboi in particular has gone since he's last played Planescape: Torment, the better it seems to have become in his mind, and the amount of gushing is directly proportional.

And shoot'em up sequences to boot!!1one

Dev thoughts on the Nin Revolution Controller
mkreku replied to kumquatq3's topic in Developers' Corner
It would rule if they managed to make Fight Night Round 3 use that controller and make it intuitive. Then all we need is a face mask that gives you a blow to the head everytime you get hit -
Only a complete moron is going to argue that EA changed anything major from NHL 2005 to NHL 06.

Who said I like the pre-generated character of the Gothic games? You assume too much, because I don't. I do, however, like the pre-gen in Gothic more than the one found in Planescape: Torment, mainly because the pre-gen doesn't have a history. The only thing you ever find out about the character in Gothic is that he must be a criminal since he was thrown in jail. The pre-gen in Planescape: Torment was heavily burdened by the story being about his history and practically nothing else. There was no way to play around it or ignore it, you had to accept the background, your pre-gen and everything that came with it if you were to enjoy Planescape: Torment. I didn't enjoy that. But to answer your question: no, it's not the name. It's the setting, the third (or first) person view, the freedom of the world, the gigantic maps, the real time combat, the enemy AI and the non-linearity. Those are aspects that are important to me. I would have preferred a better story and less linearity (towards the end of the game) but no game is perfect. That goes for Planescape: Torment too.

I'm sorry, but to me changing my stats from 16 int, 17 cha to 17 int, 16 cha is NOT a new role or even a new version of The Nameless One. I remember hating having everyone tell me I was so ugly, so I spent all my attribute points in charisma, hoping it would make people change their perception of me. It didn't. No matter what I did they kept calling me ugly and blah blah. The version of The Nameless One (who I would have preferred to give a name if I had a choice) I wanted to play just wasn't possible to play.

I've heard people say this before, but I never quite figured out how to play any other role than that of The Nameless One. I'd actually go so far as to call it an interactive story, not a true RPG.

I would love to try this setup. It sounds insane, but if they say it's intuitive, then I guess it is. It'll be exciting to try it out once they reach the game stores. Wouldn't it be kind of cool if it turned out to be so successful that everyone went out and bought a Revolution instead of PS3/Xbox2?

Weird. For me it's the other way around. I almost always look forward to European games because they allow mature themes, have the guts to stray from the mainstream path and occasionally even try to invent new things. I love the Gothic games, Outcast, Omikron, Syberia, The Longest Journey, Fahrenheit, Far Cry (it's german, not french though), Boiling Point and a bunch of others. Lots of original games in that small heap of names I just mentioned. North American developers all seem to follow the same (by now, quite boring) agenda. Hold the player's hand throughout the game, never allow anything unexpected (except for an occasional plot twist) and make sure noone is ever offended by anything. I get a lot of review copies from EA which might explain why boredom and stagnation is becoming the trademark for NA developers for me. Fortunately there are still games like Spore and The Movies on the horizon. After playing Jade Empire (and, tragically, KotOR2, which was 'inspired' by Bioware) I've all but given up on Bioware and their horribly predictable mainstream games. Also, there seems to be a 'dumbing down' trend in the NA market right now, especially easy to see in Jade Empire. Japanese developers are way too weird for my taste. They seem to make a point of creating games that are totally insane, just for the sake of making them insane. Sometimes it works, like in Katamari Damacy, but most often it just ruins any potential gameplay that might be hidden behind the nonsense. I've gotten so many jRPG's that are unplayable because every 5 minutes you're fighting new super demons in a new dimension, using new gigantic robots with new 5 mile long tentacles.. in mini-dresses. Insane.

Nope, just a well-written, but hopelessly linear game hidden behind the god-awful Infinity engine.

Have you actually bought Jade Empire Soundtrack?
mkreku replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Computer and Console
Is it illegal to rip the soundtrack out of a game and onto your MP3-player, even if you own the game..? -
So.. Leafs played an intra-squad game last night. Allison couldn't start because of hip problems. Great. Lindros could start, but was sent flying into the boards by rookie Staffan Kronwall, who later said 'he held back' because he knew it was Lindros and didn't want to give him another concussion. Oh yeah, this season looks GREAT for the Leafs!!1! I'm sure Allison is just getting ready for his place in the medical ward and if Lindros is flattened during the first day of training camp by a swedish rookie, what could possibly go wrong?

No, it's not. Remember, USA loves its heroes. It's a good game, but it's also a nauseating tale of flag waving, american patriotism and excessive nationalism. The germans are described as a being of evil instead of the bunch of scared soldiers they really were. Do not see this game as a lesson in history, no more than you should take the movie Pearl Harbour seriously.

I just played a game against Philadelphia. Have you met Peter Forsberg yet? Apparently he's faster than Niedermeyer, stronger than Pronger (hey, it rhymes!) and shoots like Brett Hull. Impossible to knock off the puck, delivers thundering hits, steals the puck all over the rink and scores on every second shot on goal. He had a hattrick against my shocked and stunned Leafs. I'm not even gonna say what the final score was! I hate this game.

Swedish newspapers report that Ron Francis has retired too. Damn, that's almost one too many. Stop retiring, lazy NHL veterans! :|

So.. have you decided what the new-comer's forum name shall be? Mini ZoeWiggin PrincessZoe Zoelogy Uhh.. those are my suggestions

The main theme in Deus Ex is really good. Some music from Gothic 2 really suit the game well and gave me goosebumps when I first heard it, but I have no idea what the tunes were called.

Eldarque EldarWiggin Eldarkside Kor Eldar Droma Make this board more schizophrenic!
-
I usually end up with 30-35 hits per game, but then again.. I've noticed that's the best way for my Leafs to play defence: slam them against the boards and carry them out on stretchers. The Leafs team description is 'physical'..

I'd recommend Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines too. If you patch it, it'll come.

Bondra could score 25 goals.. I always wonder about comments like this. With the new rules (to open up the game) and the decreased size of goalie equipment, how can anyone tell if 25 goals is the limit for Bondra? For all we know it could be that Bondra scores 40 goals this season and the Richard trophy winner scores 60. At least that's what I hope will happen..

Yeah, he is still a Leaf, but I haven't noticed anything particular about him. I did, however, notice that when I cream anyone against the boards, the glass shatters. Sometimes not even the pane of glass behind the player being creamed, but the glass next to it. Is this happening to everyone? I just take Belak, gain some speed and ram them into the board, and in 50% of the case the glass shatters (ok, slight exaggeration). Highly annoying. And it's made more so by the fact that the game has a tendency to show slow-mo's of it 3 times or so before resuming play. I noticed Sundin has 86 in speed. I wonder why he feels like a slug on the ice. His balance is 99..
