The problem with the Elder Scrolls series is that it always aims so high.. and misses by a small margin (ok, I admit that Morrowind missed by a mile or more). Everytime I play an Elder Scrolls game I get the feeling, "If only they had done this and that it would have been awesome". One of these days they're going to hit bullseye and who knows, maybe Oblivion will be it?

This looks totally uninteresting. Let's hope Dragon Age turns out good instead.

This sounds really good. Especially about the animals and no in-game loading. This sounds bad. I was not very impressed with the Doom 3 engine, but I'm betting they'll improve on it lots before releasing the game. Randomized puzzles though: spawn of the devil.

Actually, that's one of the things I am rather hoping the AI is capable of! Imagine walking down the street in just your underwear (or less) and someone taking offense to that, resulting in a street fight! Or wearing too much jewelry in a bad part of town and getting people trying to rob you, without scripting. Or wearing too shabby clothes going into a store and being denied service because you look too poor. And, I mean, if my dog decided to pee on someone's leg, I'd be pretty surprised if the victim didn't set the critter on fire. Basically I thought setting the dog on fire was one of the best things about the video. As long as the AI isn't doing things randomly, but with a purpose (that's understandable for the player), then I'm all for it, no matter the consequences.

That must make them pretty "pathetic", huh? Consider this: This is ATI's first attempt at combining two GPU's. When they've optimized their system (which, in my opinion, is better than Nvidia's from a pure technical standpoint) they'll get better results. But that is actually not the most impressive thing about this comparison test. ATI is actually able to compete with Nvidia.. even though the card's compared aren't even of the same generation! ATI hasn't released their new generation of GPU's yet, so it's basically generation 6 ATI against generation 7 Nvidia (unless I am mistaken about the generation numbers.. I lost count)! We'll see how "pathetic" ATI and their Crossfire solution is when they're on the same generation of cards. Oh, and saying that ATI's top-end GPU's are getting killed right now is.. uninformed. I love how people who say "Ps:T is teh best gamez0rz evah!!" complain about the combat in every other game.. You really shouldn't. I, for one, think the combat looks pretty interesting. Especially considering that it seems to be possible to play a real rogue/assassin in Oblivion, with the stealth tactics and bows. Who can resist a game where you can shoot an arrow into an enemy's head undetected?!

Yeah, it looked very impressive, from all standpoints. Graphics, interaction (physics!), environment and characters, even dialogues. I would have no problems using the inventory/character screens either. Too bad it seems to have loading screens when you enter buildings, because that's a typical thing that often breaks my immersion in games. I do like the stealth portions they showed in the video. It reminds me of the Thief games. Very nice. The NPC's in the cities are very reminiscent of the ones in Gothic. They too had daily routines and often got together to chat and drink beer. That's a huge improvement over Morrowind. Let's just hope that the radiant AI really works.

Well, seeing as the PS3 will be much bigger than the Xbox 360 in the eastern regions of the world and Jade Empire is based on eastern mythology (or at least inspired by), it wouldn't be a bad move for Bioware to switch platforms. Maybe the asians would buy more than 500.000 copies? I find this rumour highly unlikely though.

It would be alarming if those words were used in the development of any game but Civilization 4.. I would be horrified to read about it in a RPG preview. They used to use those words while developing Deus Ex: Invisible War too..

Two straight wins against the Red Wings in two days! Yeah, Toronto is doing good when both Allison and Lindros are playing. Now we'll just have to wait and see how many games they'll actually be in the line-up together. I'm guessing 30 games and I'm being optimistic..

I don't know if Gothic 3 has normal mapping. But they have an art design that's absolutely fantastic (in my opinion): And it looks like the clouds can still cast shadows on the ground below. Lovely
