  1. Don't even bother with him, just as he didn't bother to read the article. He's just one of those Bush fanboi's that takes every little negative detail about anything concerning his homeland as a grave personal insult (even though this is a western problem and not a USA problem). By the way, there's a not much talked about anomaly in almost every western country right now that is suspected to be caused by hormones in our food, called "precocious puberty". "Commercial beef and pasteurised dairy products consistently have the highest levels of persistent hormone disruptors. As of 1995, the US Food and Drug Administration allowed the use of implanted hormonal agents for raising beef cattle. These include the female hormones oestradiol and progesterone, the synthetic progesterone norgestomet, the male hormone testosterone and the synthetic anabolic steroids trenbolene and Zeranol. Growth agents that do not have to be implanted include a progestin that can be added to the animals' feed. Animals given these hormonal agents are not required to go through a withdrawal period prior to slaughter. Indeed, the FDA does not require mandatory recording of medication or treatment of animals destined for our plates. Three natural hormones (oestradiol-17
  2. How the hell is a picture of a soap dispenser with a Hoff sticker considered obscene?
  3. I thought Sacred Plus (and Underworld) had decent multiplayer, now that most of the bugs are gone. It's a click-fest as it's an action RPG (not really RPG either) but together with a friend it's quite enjoyable.
  4. Embarrassingly enough, I too liked the demo of Dungeon Siege 2. Maybe because they let me play it for more than 10 minutes (F.E.A.R.) or maybe because it actually had a RPG feel to it now? I'm not sure. I'll be on the look-out for it though.
  5. I think swedish beef is quite good too, considering we have strict laws about how to treat animals and what they can eat (hormones not allowed, like they are in the US and many other countries!). Unfortunately, this makes swedish meat extremely expensive and I often end up buying cheap meat from Ireland or Holland instead.
  6. If I had to predict a winner, I'd have to say that the Philadelphia Flyers are looking mighty good this year.. on paper.
  7. HOFFSOAP!
  8. My favourite rumour site reports that the Leafs/Lindros deal is not going to happen. Oh well. Let's hope that the Zetterberg rumour turns out to be true instead then.
  9. If you're hardcore enough you render it on a TI-83.
  10. I still have my review copy of Bloodlines lying around. I could sell it to you! For lots and lots of euros.. sweet euros..
  11. I was thinking about what the Toronto Maple Leafs would really need (except for the obvious) and I think the team would be better off with some high scoring defensive liability, despite them not having a stellar defense either. I read this about Sundin's 2003/2004 season (which I thought sucked): "Finished first on the team in games played (81), first in goals, first in assists, first in points, first in powerplay goals, first in shorthanded assists, first in shorthanded points, first in game winning goals, first in shots (226), first among team forwards in average ice time (19:52), first in multiple point games (24), second in powerplay assists, second in powerplay points, second in multiple assist games (5-tie), fourth in plus/minus (+11), fourth in multiple goal games (2-tie) and fourth in faceoff winning percentage (53.0%)". Mats needs a little in-club competition! One player should not be able to dominate the team stats like that, if the team is a balanced one. I like Sundin a lot, but no team that's a one-trick pony is going to go far in the play-offs. I'm really hoping Allison can return to his former game and that if the Leafs sign Lindros that he can contribute offensively too (Even though I have no idea where they would play him. Third line?!) like he used to on the Legion of Doooooom.
  12. But this time the new Nolan is a 1.5 million $ one year deal (if it goes through, it's only a rumour so far). I think that's worth giving him a chance on a new team, with a fully healed body (but not head). It wouldn't sting almost at all if he was a complete failure.
  13. I just hope the latest rumours are true: Big Eric to Toronto for 1.5 million $. I don't care if it's a gamble as long as the stakes aren't ridiculous. For that prize I think he's worth the risk. That would mean Toronto has THREE big, talented centers, although Sundin did start his carrer as a left wing. Just too bad two of the centers are like.. one hit away from retirement
  14. Just adding a small picture of Lindsey Lohan from before she was starving.. Wasn't she lovely?
  15. I forgot to mention: swedish newspapers (Aftonbladet) reported rumours today that the Red Wings are having cap troubles and that they might not be able to hold on to both Datsuyk (wants 4 mil) and Zetterberg (wants 2.5 mil). Apparently Toronto is going after Zetterberg! Now, if they could pull off a move like that, I would immediately stop whining and start praising Ferguson! I've followed Zetterberg from TV-pucken (swedish youth tournament) through his Elitserie-years (swedish national league, where he carried a Division 1 team into the elite league and kept them there, despite being the ONLY good player on his team.. I wouldn't be surprised if he even played as a goalie some nights ) and into the NHL. I am certain he will evolve into a star in the next few years. Go, Fergy!
  16. Yes. I know. And now he's demanding 12 million $ more for not playing a single game in two years. A really classy guy.
  17. I am quite aware of my fellow Leafs fans state of mind, thank you very much I've made the mistake of hanging out in a few Maple Leafs boards But they're not THAT wrong. Apparently the Leafs have been in the bidding war for all of those players mentioned above. And they've lost every single one of them! The days when the mere name of the Toronto Maple Leafs was awe-inspiring are over. I think the Leafs fans (myself included) will get over it, bitterly, in a few.. seasons. Let the rebuilding commence.. Ray Whitney is a Hurricane now. Oh well.
  18. I guess they figure that Nash has proven himself to be a star (a franchise to build around), with that awesome last season of his. Personally I think it's a bad move from Columbus side, but maybe they were forced to pay him that to be able to keep him? The revenues are tied to salaries, so players are actually paying a certain amount of money into kind of a fund. If the revenues aren't as expected, the fund belongs to the clubs and if the revenues are up, the players get back their money.
  19. Ever notice how the fangirl pictures are (almost) all fully dressed, while the fanboi pictures are either half-naked, in their undies or with a huge cleavage?
  20. Let's just ignore The Clueless One and continue discussing hockey, shall we? I must say the trade I've been most impressed with so far is.. Bobby Holik to Atlanta! I coundn't think of a more natural fit than that! Atlanta is a young team with great speed and several highly skilled players (Heatley, Kovalchuk being the top ones) but I've always thought they lacked in grit, experience and toughness. Holik might not be the league's greatest athlete in any way, but that guy sure can play tough. I remember one year when Toronto met New Jersey Devils in the playoffs. Sundin and Mogilny (I think it was) had been dominating in the first match and the Devils coach (Burns? Constantine?) put Holik on Sundin to try to smother Toronto's first line. Sundin had to carry Holik like a backpack for the rest of the series, went way below his normal points output and the Devils won the series. One sequence that really stayed in my mind was when Sundin was fighting for the puck along the board at the New Jersey bench when Holik suddenly clipped Sundin with a devastating bodycheck. Sundin is big with great balance and is seldom sent to the ground, but this particular time he fell over and sat on his butt, with this weird look of surprise on his face. That's when I knew Toronto was in big trouble, and it was only the second or third game of the series.
  21. Very few teams that won the cup managed to hold on to their key players the following year (unless you go back to the days of the Oilers or Islanders dynasties). Why? Because often the key players were young players entering into their prime at the time of the Cup victory. The following year they could often renegotiate their contracts, and because of their newfound Cup stardom they could demand a lot more money. I don't think Tamba would have been able to hold on to their entire roster under the old CBA either, because a lot of other, richer teams would have been hunting for their up-and-coming stars. This is all speculation however as neither you or I could possibly know the what would happen in that alternate universe. I'm happy about the new CBA. It has worked fantastic so far, with a lot of the smaller teams finally being able to pick up some big names. This means that the poorer teams won't be stuck in an eternal rebuilding process because of the rich teams getting all the talent using their superior resources. Unfortunately for me, this has NOT benefitted Toronto at all, but it's still very cool seeing teams like Nashville getting someone like Kariya. That would not have been possible under the old CBA.
  22. They wouldn't be the first and they wouldn't be the last. This fact has nothing to do with the new CBA. But you're right in one thing; Tampa Bay does look a whole lot worse without Khabibulin in the net. Rumours are still flying about the Leafs trying to trade Belfour.. but for whom?
  23. No, it's not because you're a girl. I've never understood how anyone can think that creature is sexy. Not only does she have that slithering, fleshy tail, she also suffers from a I'm-14-and-very-rebellious personality.
  24. Yeah, I've played through it too now. I really liked what I saw, even though it's just another FPS. Very intense fights (the volumetric smoke helps a lot) with bullet holes that are actually making a dent in the objects (not only an extra texture added like a stamp on top of whatever you hit), lots of objects flying around (with realistic physics), scary moments, GREAT lighting and real-time realistic shadowing. They're also using lots of different shaders (realistic skin, wood and concrete for example) to great effect. My poor, aging computer didn't like it much (had to run it in 800x600 to be able to use FSAA and max effects) but I need reasons to upgrade anyhow. I must be the easiest person in the world to scare because I nearly crapped my pants when, near the end of the demo, I almost died from shock.
  25. How about now? :D
