  1. And just what do you think "lead" means? Jordan led by example.
  2. Ok, I've waited hours for your notes now. Get back here, you lazy bum!
  3. I was thinking I'd be using Sundin on powerplays, in boxplay and as an offensive force in even strength. But, just as Georges Laraque, they've made Sundin slow as hell. I have no idea why, because he's not slow at all in real life. He has very long legs though, so his skating looks almost as it's going in slow motion, but he sure picks up speed anyhow. It's quite annoying that I've scored more with Domi than with Sundin.
  4. But are we sure it's a RPG? I was thinking that perhaps it was more like GTA: San Andreas since they're using Unreal 3 technology and seem to aim for the console market. Also, J.E. Sawyer stated his opinion about what he thought defined a RPG, and it differs from the old time RPG's we're used to. Of course, I might be way off and Obsidian are working on a KotOR-look-alike..
  5. Uh, I don't know what you canadians do, but you're supposed to FLUSH poo, not CRUSH it.
  6. Well, it's clear for everyone with a brain that Jade Empire didn't break even. I guess that's something the developers have to take into account when starting a new franchise. I assume Bioware can handle it (seeing as they're pretty successful elsewhere), but what does a fact like this mean for, for example, Obsidian? Project New Jersey is (probably) a new IP for consoles only (hope not, but it seems likely). Can Obsidian take a blow like Jade Empire and not end up like Troika?
  7. It is weird though that he didn't stay for just another season. I mean, why not end his career in Edmonton (I know the fans would love that), pass Howe on most games played and score a measly 7 more goals to break the magic 700 goals barrier? I know it means nothing to him, but still.. He wasn't bad in his last season and the fans sure want him back, and he himself said he was healthy. Like I said, it's weird. Let's hope Crosby & Co. can live up to the hype so we won't miss the old-timers.
  8. BWAhahahaha! I see they've implemented some realism into the game
  9. I'm a bit worried about the amount of support Neverwinter Nights 2 will be given. I mean, it's an extremely complex product they're trying to create and no matter what, it'll need a few patches along the way. What if it receives the same attention from Obsidian that KotOR2 did after release..? Unless LucasArts actively hinders patches from being released, it's quite clear by now that Obsidian does not care to work 'for free' on patches. Which is quite a disappointment either way.
  10. Could you show me a piece of HTML code that works properly in IE, is successfully validated by the http://validator.w3.org/ and shows up faulty in Firefox? I tried to google for it, but I can't seem to find it. Weird, since in the piece I quoted from you, you say that it "often doesn't show properly in Firefox". Often? Oh, and the link provided by Sammael had 86 errors in the validator.
  11. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=135861&hubName=nhl I guess we won't be seeing 'The Old One' after all. It feels like the Hall of Fame will be packed with new inductees after this season! McInnis, Stevens and Messier, all in one year. Oh well, I am glad we have Ovechkin, Crosby, perhaps Malkin and of course the batch from the last few years, Nash, Kovalchuk, Ruuttu.
  12. Damn, all this talk about Deus Ex has made me want to install it. Again.
  13. I honestly don't think it would raise production costs to produce a game that utilizes Open GL instead of DirectX. As far as I can tell, it's mostly DirectX that makes most games OS dependant. Since most development houses uses C++ as their main programming language, it would be quite possible to compile the source for any OS, as long as it used standard libraries instead of Microsoft's copyrighted versions.
  14. Well, except for the fact that most development houses seem to be Microsoft lapdogs and always codes primarily for the Windows OS (with DirectX and all that comes with it). Except perhaps Id and Epic, who seem to be able to let the Linux market in on the action.

  16. Sub quest: Initiate conversation with a different unknown girl you find attractive every day for a week. (I actually saw this suggestion in a book that contained lots of these everyday challenges meant to spice up your life)
  17. I bet it was a bucket of herbal viagra..
  18. I've been playing NHL 06 for a few hours now (I love being a reviewer sometimes), and I must say it's not as 'bad' as NHL 2005 was. There are perhaps not enough changes to differentiate it from the previous year, but there's enough to turn the game from an annoying experience to one where I can see myself having some fun. I do find the constant whining about "special moves" to be quite annoying this time around though. I'm not particularly interested in scoring 'between my legs', I just want to simulate a good game of hockey and feel myself getting better and better for every game. So far it's not happening. I lost my first game (against Ottawa) 5-2 and proceeded to get beaten by Montreal (!) 3-2 OT. Either I'm rusty or there's something I didn't quite get yet, because I've won every statistic in every match so far, but I just can't seem to score. Of course, Ottawa played Hasek and Montreal played Theodore (and both became First Star of the game) and I have on manual aim, but still.. Oh, and I play Toronto of course
  19. I can punch you in the mouth for free, if you want.
  20. The problem with MMO's (and why I think they're a 'con' as someone put it) is that they have no clearly defined goal. No matter how you twist it, they are always a grind of some sort, because when you have no clear goal, that's all there is left to do to make players stay for an infinite amount of time. Sure, most MMO's try to disguise the fact by hiding the grind under different tasks, but what it all comes down to in the end is time, or rather 'wasting time'. World of Warcraft is about grinding for xp, grinding a huge amount of generic quests, grinding whichever gathering skill you choose, grinding whichever creating skill you choose, grinding to be able to fish/make bandages/create food. Then there's the endless chase (grind) for better equipment, for those rare crystals, for those rare unique world drops, for more gold so you can buy more meaningless stuff. World of Warcraft is even so bad that they turned my favourite aspect of MMO's into a grind: player vs. player. They introduced battlegrounds, which in reality turned out to be nothing more than xp grinding against players (they call it honor points, which, in fact, is as far from the truth as can be). Everything in MMO's is based on how much time you are willing to spend in the game. Skill rarely comes into play, because the gameplay is based around making the player go forward as slowly as possible towards an unclear goal. The (false) satisfaction comes from a feeling of accomplishment when you complete certain tasks, or when you've caught that hard-to-get last piece of equipment. But no matter how you twist it, it's still just a bottomless pit that devours every free second of your life (if you allow it to) because no matter how long you play them, you'll never feel completely satisfied, like you normally do after you've beaten the main villain in any ordinary single player game.
  21. I was hoping the branch would break and the monkey would tumble to a world of hurt (and mutilation).
  22. Woo! I knew that by playing Championship Manager 2006 I was playing at the height of the RPG bundle! I mean, it's all stats and nothing else! Thank you EnderWiggin for clearing that up, with your brilliant logic and black and white world.
  23. I just read on ESPN NHL that Forsberg is injured again.. one week into training camp.. Guess the Leafs aren't the only ones with permanent rooms in the nearest hospital.
  24. Everytime they send me one of.. these things to review I send it right back.
  25. Don't. I spent 3 months in World of Warcraft and it just isn't worth it. It gives nothing, you spend too much time in it, it costs money and it just leaves you feeling empty at the end of the day. Also, the MMO's are designed to make you spend more and more time in them forever. The more time you spend, the better you get. It's like a trap.
