Concerns regarding the game setting

This would be my choice as well.

thank you!
Sometimes, even for a cheapskate like me, spending money feels good. Good luck Obsidian.

Any chance of pure turn-based combat?
Make (optable) TB a stretch goal, or part of one. It seems likely the $1.1 mil will be far surpassed so why not. There seems to be some demand for it. I can live without TB, but I do highly prefer it over RtWP.

Obsidian has a Kickstarter profile
Success in a KS debut is all about a good pitch (and remember that Ferg[?] recently gave big talks on how to make a pitch, they do this for a living). At the least they should have concept art and a lot of definite information about what the game is going to be and what's going to be cool about it. Gameplay vids, even in alpha, would be good as well. Beyond that, enticing backer rewards, especially at the mid-levels ($30-75), helps quite a bit. T-shirts and forum badges won't do it. In-game acknowledgement of high-level backers (ala Wasteland 2's monuments) seems to be popular, but I know Avellone has expressed serious reservations about that practice. Yes. I agree of course. And the mystery stunt has served its purpose by gathering a good amount of publicity among the potential customerbase. Was just wondering how the gathered interest might seem a bit overflowing to some if it ends up being a KS project - ya know, expecting a cake but ending up with a cookie. No consequence to me, though, as I said.

Obsidian has a Kickstarter profile
They sure have created quite a buzz if this indeed ends up being their KS campaign launch. I have my money ready for pledging, but I would also think there'll be a lot of disappointment in some circles when the "mindwrecking" mystery countdown people are sweating and exciting about ends up being "please give us money". Not my concern though, I'll be happy and a bit poorer.

Old games wanted on Steam/GOG
I've waited for Harvester to get included in GoG's list for some time. I have my old retail copy, but I never got to finish the game because the CD 2 was so stuck in the case that it cracked in two pieces when I tried to get it out.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS!
Gotta agree with Morgoth (aside from the "cartoonish" part, which doesn't really concern me). The core gameplay looked nice, although a bit lacking somehow, but I got this weird apologetic feeling from the devs that it all appeared so easy. What with all the "Oh, he missed! That's XCOM for you!", "This isn't really this easy, we're playing only on normal" remarks, and that it actually did look like a cakewalk (somewhat unexpectedly to them, as it appeared to me). Nonetheless, not going to pass on this one.

Ubisoft causes some DRM mischief.... again. Intimidating headline at RPS says: Warning: Big security risk in some Ubisoft PC games

Avellone asks for your kickstarter ideas
I'm inclined to agree here. Rather create something new with similiar core values to PS:T. Like MCA implied in the interview, a game that is to PS:T like what Fallout was to Wasteland.
- What are you playing now? Part 3'ish

Xcom
In case someone has missed it, here's 15 minutes of narrated gameplay (showcasing destructible environment among other things).

Xcom
I thought they were. Someone has made a summary of the features known so far (dunno when it's last updated though), that says that walls and covers are destructable, but roofs and ground are not: http://forums.2kgame...tion-Summarized

Cyberpunk 2020 by CD Projekt
How many times have I heard this being said... This doesn't give a good vibe even if they might have a valid point behind it all.

Civ
After reading this thread, I had to re-install civ IV. And I cannot tell how much fun it is (both compared the V, and as standalone) - I have a recollection that I had burned myself out of this, but it seems I haven't. Fun thing is, I can't really name what's better in this than in V, but the difference in interest is staggering; I went 5 hours straight in IV while I had gotten bored in 1.5 in V.

Movies you've seen recently
Also watched Prometheus a couple of days ago. It falls in the category of films that would greatly benefit from additional 30-40 minutes of more narration to give some depth to the characters and the whole scene - even if those additional minutes would make it somewhat ponderous. As it was, it was generally pretty thin - if still beautiful.

The official E3 2012 thread
And of course the stream doesn't stutter at all when Usher is.... doing that thing. The SP trailer was nice (from what I glimpsed through the stuttering).

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
I'll second that. At least I hope they'll come up with something at least bit different than what we get from every cRPG these days combatwise.
