  1. Great interview with highly promising views. I feel like a little kid just under christmas. This game needs to happen.
  2. Approx 500 pages along in Kings Under the Dome and loving it so far. I can't remember when was the last time I read a book this long that stood this firmly to the point and kept growing the intesity without going down on distracting ramblings beside the main storyarc. And for a King book, there's surprisingly little abnormalities involved, but more a focus more on how the people behave in the situation they're put in and the "horror" being more human than supernatural. Hopefully the the book keeps on getting more and more interesting, like it has done so far, as it goes on and doesn't disappoint with a tacked on ending or dry out.
  3. In the first place... the original setting and gameplay could've progressed into something really nice if the franchise reboot was handled with care and respect. Alas it was not, so I don't believe anyone is particularly is interested in it anymore for other reasons than having mediocre shooter experience. But that's just my opinion.
  4. Gametrailers gives it a whopping 8.2. Can't tell how they comment on it because my speakers just died, but it looks like nothing I would bother with.
  5. If Obsidian is going to get real with this, I just hope that there isn't going to be any unhealthy competition or clashing of funders with Fargo and his Wasteland 2 - seeing as both cater to the same oldschool RPG demographic. Both projects deserve to be done and it would be a shame if either ended up eating from the otherones table.
  6. Live feed.
  7. Finally some good news along with all the "person X is leaving Obsidian" stuff. Good times indeed.
  8. Will be interested to see what CD Projekt can do with their own IP. They also have 2 "A" games and one "AA" game coming. http://www.eurogamer...onsole-releases Lots of things going on for CDPR.
  9. There was also this old article about the mixed reception AP got in Eu and US. I think makes some good points about what kinds of people it appealed to and where the it stood at the time (and I guess stands still).
  10. A bit early announcement, imo. Even the earlier title still being 2-3 years away.
  11. After the initial "meh" feeling, I'm actually starting to get quite interested in this. It also helps that there's hardly any competition in the stale gaming market right now (Risen 2 and XCOM:EU being the only other games worth looking forward to in the horizon).
  12. nevermind
  13. I'm fairly sure Frank Horrigan has to die for the game to end Technically your character doesn't have to kill him (companions, hacking the turrets, persuading a group enclave soldiers in the lobby - correct me if I'm wrong here). edit - beaten to it
  14. How's it bugged? This could help (unless you're using the fixpack - scroll down some ways and you'll see it - from there already).
  15. Decided to give Alpha Protocol another run. Clunky as ever, but there's still something there that keeps me playing.
  16. Hey Chris... ahem, Mr Avellone, if you have spare time, why don't you go ahead and outline your hypothetical "dream game" - setting, gameplay, story, structure and themes, just an outline, no need to go into specifics - in a blogpost. Would give some nice new perspective on this whole matter, and would - I believe - launch whole new set of suggestions and interesting discussions.
  17. Sawyer visited Eidos Montreal and was studying stealth mechanics/gameplay at one point. That's pretty much all we know, but then again I'm fairly sure Sawyer visited other publishers as well. So that Eidos Montreal visit might not mean anything. Ah, ok. Getting my bearings here with what little vague info we have.
  18. Was it Sawyers project that was linked to the visits with Eidos Montreal and Square Enix, or wast it something else? Or am I completely misrecalling here? I can't help but think that - looking at how similiar AP and DX:HR are - Sawyer is doing something related to Deus Ex or something similiar (didn't he also tweet something about stealth gameplay at some point?) - even after reading that he and MCA were working on a completely new "world".
  19. I would much prefer a completely new IP than them working on an existing one. That is to say, while I wouldn't say no to a "Planescape 2" or a spiritual successor to PST, I'd rather explore new things in a completely new setting and in the same spirit as PST did for its world and characters (and with turnbased and more focused combat, though not combat being more central).
  20. edit... didn't see the link being posted already in the previous page...
  21. Quality over quantity, sure. I agree. But consider the expenses too. Every penny spent on a voiceactor is away from something else, and this is a really limited budget thing we're talking about. They can't plan ahead too much as far as money goes as the overall budget is a subject to change up until the Kickstarter timelimit is reached (if they even put it to realisation at all, that is). Think long term. Quality can be had without someone reading the text for you, and there's also the matter that how much quantity are you willing to sacrifice for quality (as well as how much quantity will hurt quality - PST had a lot of quality with minimal voiceacting, for example).
  22. Voiced dialog limits the amount of overall dialog (and is expensive), which, in turn can limit the quality of it by not being able to express the characters throughly enough. If there needed to be be some, I'd rather go for VIP NPC's and leave the rest text only.
  23. Guinness voters select Black Ops as the greatest ending in gaming history. Click the link to see the marvelous top 50 list.
  24. Would be a nice touch if there was somewhat indepth focus on human behavior in an isolated and desperate situation. Not necessarily survival (at first, at least), but more about the clash of different viewpoints in coping with the situation and methods of handling it, all that resulting in something of a powerstruggle that eventually escalates in violence (should things go that far).
  25. Add in a bit of Lars von Triers human cruelty and you have a quite delicious soup.
