  1. That's due to the update. all the grass you cut down and built over has been gone until today. the update changed the terrain in places and caused all grass and such to grow back. I can't even walk through the door of my base, it's got a blade of grass in the center Hopefully, after chopping it down again and removing the stems it will stay away like before.
  2. i found a work around for that until they fix it. build a scaffolding and put your stairs on the front, a floor on the top, then your door on the opposite side of the stairs. only time this would happen to me, getting stuck like that, is when i had the stairs right up to the door. I never remember to close my doors, so the last couple games i've started i didn't bother with them. I wish we could get an archway to use as a door. would be cool for making rooms in your base, or away to make your doors auto-shut behind you.
  3. wonder if the long load times were based on what was all on your map, like some said lose materials and items. I've never seen a loading screen longer than a minute or so. awesome it sped up for you! that = more play time
  4. mine did it automagically while i was working. my update installed at 10:36 PDT so it was all ready when i turned on the console at lunch
  5. congrats on the find. little more info on how you play would help with suggestion on fixing. console or PC for starts?
  6. i like. kinda like the old school miner lamp helmets, but instead of oil burning in them we use sap and dry grass pieces.
  7. 2nd view taken from the opposite side of the base from the one above, standing on the steps to my door - Also noticed looking at map screenshot, i lost a bunch of discovered places and labs. oh well just means more exploring to see new changes
  8. Ah! screenshots. totally forgot to upload those with my post My base with the new water access took this shot standing on the corner of the Machine. also forgot to mention all the grass that i had chopped down and removed the stumps grew back. the stumps i left, as you can see, did not grow back.
  9. i can see how that would be useful, but if htey let us vote on these i'd vote no, super simple to walk a short ways from anywhere to get grass. Heck no on weeds, they're supposed to be few and far between so to speak, they don't even respawn unless they changed that this patch.
  10. So stoked! i got to play for a few minutes during my lunch break. here's what i've found so far. terrain changes - holy crap! My base was built between the machine and the red Punch-O box. what was flat ground there is now a couple ponds, i'm going to have to relocate. Lucky i hadn't built anything but plank walls and scaffolding yet, so no big deal there for me. Trail Marker icons - we got a few new icons, which caused most of my existing icons to change as they shifted locations in the list. my leaf icon i used for the oak tree became a water drop, my mustache icons i used for the various Burg-L mission markers were changed to spiders i believe. New crafting items!! fences and Tables that i've noticed so far. New inventory icons - so so happy about these i loved the grub goo icon, and the others i saw made them easier to tell what they were. spider gunk looks like a spider bit, instead of just like the acid glands. Didn't find any bugs to fight in my short play time to check out combat changes. however i did notice a disturbing rumbling noise coming from under the oak tree when i went to update the trail marker on the yard lamp there. i ran down into the abandoned ant hill but didn't see anything there. Oh and SCA.B upgrades are now much easier to see, they have a green glow around them. collecting raw science has an audio cue now. Kinda cool the first time or two but i can see how that will get really annoying. Hopefully there's an option to turn that off? Looks like i'm scraping the few plans i had tonight to spend my time checking out this new update! besides we all work at home now so laundry and dishes can wait right? Oh! and armor is still taking up an inventory slot, maybe next patch they'll get that one implemented. What else have ya'll found that i missed?
  11. why give us everything just because? Right okay. Like Sulfuras in vanilla WoW. extremely difficult to obtain, and was the ultimate end game item until Burning Crusade 3 years later. you're "Better answer" i could go with. making mint a very hard resource to discover and obtain would better than a respawn in the mint box.
  12. your post said raw science. once you collect it, it's gone, unless the devs do a reset on it again, so the only way to have it on your map idea would be at the beginning
  13. Mint is a rare end game (for now) resource. it should not respawn. we should not be able to fill a trunk with end game hammers, what's the point then. They need to fix the bug where they disappear, not give endless end game resources just cause a hammer was lost. as the game progresses and we get better items this will be a moot point but for now, it should remain finite and rare.
  14. actually you can't. show me one existing building they dropped a wall halfway into the ground, or built halfway or more into a boulder, since you bring up real life. IRL you modify your wall. You use half the resource for the half wall, you cut the wall to fit the land, or cut out the wall to fit around the rock, or break the rock away with tools to put your wall in place. That's what I'd rather see, especially since you're on the real life comparison. Let us have modified walls using less resources to fill in that half wall gap, or the ability to landscape and make a flat area to build on, shape the wall around the boulder, etc. If we could cut into those boulders it would give us more resources, like granite for better weapons, leveling out the terrain could give us dirt for gardens to grow sprigs or such.
  15. man if OP doesn't like combat now, he'll really dislike combat changes after patch with them making the battles not so timing based.
  16. i like the map they linked. i just don't think raw science markers should be included in the in game map. some of the other markers on that linked map would be useful, after you find them in the game of course.
  17. They're out there you can craft water items as you play more. you can also drink from the puddles and find other types of "water" drops around the area that won't make you sick. there's plenty of water for starting out that replenishes daily. I think they should add a weight factor. We're not ants.... we're teenagers, You load your pack full of 10 stack of pebbles in every slot (can't fathom why someone would even want that many) and it SHOULD slow you down. They changed that last patch. too many kiddies complaining the wolf spiders were OP. I agree, we should get stalked by them like we used to before last patch it's what they do. It's how they go the name wolf spider, they hunt their prey. they have excellent eyesight for spiders (just shy of a jumping spider). Dev's took it too far, They took the wolf out wolf spider. I think they should at least adjust it to some sort of middle ground, between now and prior to last patch change. just my 2c on this
  18. i like this one except the raw science markers. those are supposed to be hidden and found as you explore. Not everything should be given to you.
  19. i get that too. i'm thinking it may be bugs stuck in the ground, or rocks, etc.
  20. I disagree, it's red for a reason, it should stay that way. building stuff needs limits. Inconsistencies they should fix, but you shouldn't be able to build your wall say halfway through a boulder.
  21. saw this last night. My first wolf spider kill! granted he was trapped in the root and couldn't attack but i finally got 1 spider fang. better try for another before they fix this lol
  22. eww no, why? you want to cook the muscle parts, not the squishy no muscle nasty stuff. yes yes and yes. Yes within reason. Any utility or Food Prep item should be able to be moved when empty/not in use. Moving your base around, no way. already is one. i'm guessing the queen ant coming may be another. Ark: Grounded = heck no. And luckily in the interview they said they weren't looking at taming and mounts anytime soon. So hopefully that means never. That is a cool idea.
  23. supposed to be fixed in tomorrow's update according to the interview that was posted here in another thread. disagree, they're big chunks, i like the jerky that's dried and shrunken down some is stackable but the raw meat and cooked steaks no.
  24. better idea is allowing us to hotkey all 8 slots, you can hotkey the first 4 to the D-pad, we need an option to do like LB+D-pad for the last 4 slots.
