You don't need to have eny of those worries, later in the game you will definitely get your share of space cheesiness.
-
Heh. I thought the singleplayer campaign was rather fun actually Some things are a bit silly and cheesy but I guess you can't get away from that.

lolwut? Also: while everyone will understand basically everything you say in English in Sweden, all the news and information will be in Swedish, which naturally might be a problem. In Stockholm, there is also a relatively large American/English-speaking enclave (I happen to have some relatives from America living in Sweden). To sum it up: Pros: People will understand everything you say even though Enlish is not a native language, nice place to live in, good, free education especially on University level Cons: You won't understand a word of what other people say, perhaps language barriers will make it hard to find work (doubtful in the case of a programmer though)

Didn't play the first one; see no reason to change that with the second. I'm actually quite hyped. I liked the first game, but I'm hardly a Blizzard fanboy. Maybe it isn't that good, but at least I will know afterwards that even the best will eventually succumb to good marketing I was in the beta from relatively early on though, so it's not that I will have no idea of what I'm buying.

So, who will be playing Starcraft 2 shortly? I will probably be at my local store and buy it around midnight...
-
Strangely enough, it worked when I tried the other day :S Anyway, I have a level 53 hammerdin (HC ladder, currently in A4 Nightmare) in the Europe realm. It appears that I can't change that, so I don't know if I'll be able to play with you anyway!

Not that you probably care now, but occasionally bnet does that as a kind of error...ie, it's not a stolen cd-key but for some reason it thinks you're already logged in, and thus sees your login as a 2nd login and gives you that message. I can't remember what might trigger it tho, besides server lag when you get knocked off. Other than that, yeah, could be stolen/hacked cd-key. Yeah, I've read about the errors you mentioned first on the internet. I'm pretty sure my CD- key is not stolen or hacked though. Or at least, I own a copy of D2 that I think is legit :S

Obsidianz! You're not "old school", you're just old!
Rostere replied to obyknven's topic in Obsidian General
Exactly what I think. MotB was good though. I don't think the NWN2 OC is that bad as people say, but it's dull when you compare it to Alpha Protocol. -
I would play a little, however when I tried to log in, it said that my CD- key was already in use by another player :S

Pakistan's ISI major supporter of Afghan Taliban
Rostere replied to Wrath of Dagon's topic in Way Off-Topic
Please. I'm very convinced that there is a large portion of people in Pakistan who hold a grudge against the American "infidels" who occupy their neighbouring country. Strategically, it must matter little to the everyday Pakistani whether Afghanistan is "occupied" or not, however people are, as shown throughout history, not rational. I'm sure that as you point out, the leaders will most likely have different motivations for intervening in Afghanistan but they must also make certain efforts to please the ordinary people if they want to stay in power. -
Suggestions for Dungeon Siege III
Rostere replied to Irrelevant's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Most important: Good loot system (see Diablo 2) and good character development (which can be made in a variety of ways. May I suggest using skill trees or something similar? That is usually suitable for hack'n'slash type RPGs) Concerning story, NPCs and atmosphere I'm quite sure Obsidian won't fail so I won't mention that -
Pakistan's ISI major supporter of Afghan Taliban
Rostere replied to Wrath of Dagon's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's not really about being weak. The US is widely despised in Pakistan. Monetary aid will perhaps gain the lip service of Pakistani politicians but they can't do just anything without the support from their people. Naturally, Pakistan will want the US away from Afghanistan, both because they care for their neighbour's national sovereignty, but also because they want to expand their own influence on behalf of the Western powers. The sunni-islamic people of Afghanistan would rather align with Pakistan than Iran, but if they find that Iran is willing to support rebellion against the peacekeeping forces in their country, radical element might instead align with Iran, which would lessen Pakistan's influence considerably. Whether to end the American cooperation with Pakistan or not is therefore a tough question which has no easy answer. -
In this case, I want Obsidian to look at Diablo 2. That game still has one of the best loot systems to date. If the game is to be more of the hack&slash type of game, then loot is one of the most important parts, perhaps the most important after character development.

North Korea attacks and sinks South Korean ship, killing 46 people
Rostere replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
Actually he's just saying what's obviously true based on the citizens actions and investigations that have shown that due to americas arrival in Iraqi recruitment skyrocketed for anti-american groups. I always find it kind of ironic when American military leaders say "we will be gone from Iraq when the fighting stops" when they being there is a main reason for the violence. You would be hard pressed to find a country more widely despised in the Middle East than the US. I feel the US is very much giving the western democracies bad relations with that part of the world with all the fighting, unconditional support for Israel et.c. If the US had not propped up the undemocratic regime in Saudi Arabia, there would be no Al Qaeda and if the Palestine conflict had been resolved long ago a lot of radical extremist movements had not gained the kind of prominent position they have today. In a way, a lot of unrest has been sown in the Middle East due to Western powers acting only in their own immidiate interest without regards to ethical considerations. -
Did any of you play Demigod from GPG? The game has an exellent atmosphere and art style. I am confident that the trio of Square Enix, GPG and Obsidian will come up with some interesting stuff. Also, I can imagine Square Enix is a way better publisher than SEGA as well.

How has this game done financially?
Rostere replied to Busomjack's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Bashing? I've seen people write that they think some reviewers are stupid for not recognizing the game for what it is. I agree somewhat with those but there is really not a strong enough distinction between American and European reviewers to collectively blame American reviewers for being stupid. -

Rostere replied to Busomjack's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
The game had like, IIRC, ~100k of preorders for 360 and PS3 in the US a month before release and perhaps 20k preorders on consoles in Europe. But then we must remember: 1. Europe is much more PC-centric 2. European gamers are not as likely to preorder as American gamers, nor are they as likely to buy games on release date (based on earlier research into this... I think there was anpther thread on this subject) -
I played it for the PC, and I did not encounter any bugs.

Israel butchers civilians in international waters
Rostere replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
Okay, other than the government of Palestine, who would you trust to explain that yes, Virginia, malnutrition does exist at greater-than-normal levels in a country suffering under the Israeli blockade? Oh, I don't know, an objective and independent source instead of the Palestinian propaganda machine? Edit: Israel transfers an average of 15000 tons a week in humanitarian supplies, so if there's malnutrition it's not Israel's fault. Hamas meanwhile seems to have plenty of money to buy missiles and other weapons. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100602/ap_on_...blockade_glance Those 15000 is the Isreali blockade limit. No other goods are allowed to be shipped into Gaza at all. Also, the aid is not provided directly by Israel. "Israel transfers an average of 15000 tons a week in humanitarian supplies" should be "Israel allows for others to transfer an average maximum of 15000 tons a week in humanitarian supplies" You should give the "Results" section of your link a look: "Results: Gaza residents have institutionalized a system of smuggling tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border to bring in consumer goods, fuel and building materials. Tunnels operated by Hamas loyalists are also believed to bring in weapons and cash. Hamas taxes the tunnel trade to boost its coffers. More than 100,000 jobs have been wiped out in Gaza and poverty has deepened. Support for Hamas has not lessened, as Gazans blame Israel for hardships. International demands that Israel lift the blockade were increasing even before the flotilla raid." So the Palestinian population are supposed to rely on smuggling (and in this, they empower HAMAS), when you are shot on sight for going near the border to Israel? I think that you also must understand that this blockade is not the way to peace in the region. -
Honestly dude, you should play Alpha Protocol. (But if you happen to like BG2 and KoTOR2 but not Deus Ex or System Shock 2, then you should just be sad and wait for Obsidian's next game)

Alpha Protocol = unofficial "Deus Ex" heir
Rostere replied to Nissa_Red's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Alpha Protocol reminds me so much of Deus Ex. Even the music is sometimes reminiscent of Deus Ex. -
Israel butchers civilians in international waters
Rostere replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
While this has been discussed already it bears restating: Israel defines a whole bunch of things as not being humanitarian aid, apart from construction materials and pre fabs and the like things as trivial as pasta (rescinded once John Kerry queried it), fresh meat and coriander are banned, and most importantly they do not publish what is acceptable or not so there is no way of knowing what Israel will arbitrarily seize at any given time. As such the Israeli offer was entirely disingenuous and a sop to those predisposed not to investigate but take its word at face value. Given the complete lack of weapons except for improvised ones such as kitchen knives I think we can safely assume there were not any AKs or rockets on board, nor even simple firearms except the ones the commandos brought. I know most of the usual suspects have been parroting the "it's a weapons embargo" line on US TV, but it's a load of rubbish. It's utterly arbitrary and designed specifically to be able to shut out anything and everything that Israel wants whether or not there's any justification for it. You forgot that the Israeli blockade only allows for a certain amount of aid to be shipped every week. So, if the Israeli government had been allowed to take care of the shipments, that would have meant no change compared to what the Gaza strip gets normally. -
Those are exactly my thoughts. I played the game for 9 hours straight when I first got it
