I believe Obsidian's greatest creations were Pillars of Eternity 1 and Tyranny
Not for me. To keep my immersion I would like to be able to try and romance everyone but always fail

I believe Obsidian's greatest creations were Pillars of Eternity 1 and Tyranny
Yeah I get why they did it. Just is immersion breaking when everyone likes me.

Was dead fire steeped in identity politics? I mean everyone was bisexual which I find annoying personally (not for political reasons I just think you being everyones type was a little lame) Outerworlds had a lesbian character who was not interested in a sexual relationship. There was also a gay guy that loved Hawthorne... I think. If that's enough to make you dislike a game... That might be your issue and not the worlds

Cyberpunk 2077
She is awful. It was so inexplicable I had to read the books to try and justify choosing her aside from her being hot. All the books did was make me dislike Trish... I started with witcher 3... Hated not knowing the characters back story... So I played witcher 1 and 2... Realized I still had no idea who anyone was... Tried to read the books, realized a couple books in that I just don't like the witcher universe. Everyone is unlikable IMO. Geralt claims the queen ladies first child... Then they have a child and he's like "naaah I don't actually care about that kid you can keep her... Because I don't believe in destiny". Then why claim the kid in the first place? I've never spent so much time trying to get into a story before. Still haven't finished witcher 3. I wouldn't say it's bad, just a way too much work to catch up to the lore... And the books aren't very good in my opinion.

Picture of Your Games the 14th
If you liked the "SEED" score mechanic the trails series has something similar. It can be a little tedious but if you play JRPGs I assume you probably can handle some level of tedium

Picture of Your Games the 14th
Yeaaah I never did that though. I didn't even really realize having stock piles of magic made it stronger... Which is my issue with the difficulty boost. It's really not necessary until the very end. I was equipping 1 ultima to everyone and that got me right until the final gauntlet ... Then I read a walkthrough and decided to just cheat for the ending... Which story wise was kind of dumb

I love the first half of FF8. The ending is real bad though. It's one of those games where it's relatively easy until the last boss and then they are like "oh you didn't prepare for this huge jump in difficulty for the final boss? That's too bad"

Politics US Edition (2021!)
Quick google search says 1 trillion. USAs is 3 trillion and they give nothing to their citizens. There is more debt in the world than there is money. It's pretty much just monopoly money at this point.

I think you can have an uncontrollable urge without doing something... Like... The urge is uncontrollable... The action is controllable but the urge is not... Discuss

Basic bitch time for me. But new Vegas is the best

No voiced player character
I think obsidian will go non voiced... I can't think of any games of theirs that have voiced protagonists... Maybe Alpha protocol? It's been too long to remember... I think that game was voiced. Also grounded I guess. Though I don't really count that because it's not a typical obsidian game

Cyberpunk 2077
I don't mind linear if it's a linear game. But open world games that are linear tend to frustrate me. I'd prefer they commit to one or the other. I'm sure I will eventually like cyberpunk once I can enjoy it for what it is, as opposed to what I thought it would be.

Cyberpunk 2077
Oh that's actually cool. I guess your start really does matter

Cyberpunk 2077
Really? Weird... Wonder what you did to get that ending to the mission. I played it a couple times... The only thing I didn't do was as a corpo start
-
Cyberpunk 2077
Yeah as I said I'm still early. But from act 1 it seems very minimal in differences. Talking to the corpo lady the conversation goes differently but it always ends in her giving you the money chip... You turn down the money chip "you're going to regret this" then after the mission she's like "thanks for doing that for me" Hmm not really regretting it yet

Cyberpunk 2077
Someone caved in! I gave up on the game for now. I also really hate the filler crime people. My biggest problem though, is the dialog. not the quality of writing, just that it really feels pointless which choice you make in dialog. Fairly certain nothing has a real impact. Though I am still early in the game. For the life of me I can't remember the dudes name. But the fat guy with dreadlocks that is in act 1. There is an option to lie to him or to tell the truth. They really make it seem like it matters... But none of the options make any difference Also... The "cool" dialog checks don't seem to matter. You just say a thing then the NPCs are like "wow you're cool now press the dialog option that advances the story so we can get this over with" ALSO it suffers from the vague dialog description problem that fallout 4 had. "Tell that to T-bug" = " you stupid selfish piece of poop t bug would be alive if you weren't so bleeping stupid you bleeping bleep"

Avowed will not be PoE3, and that's a good thing
I'm definitely stealing this point as my own... Forget who said it but there is a difference between having a month long crunch period and having constant crunch... I think any job has busy periods where you will be expected to put in a little extra time.. the real problem is when that busy period lasts all year or multiple years
-
Avowed is a terrible name. A good name is 50% of the sale
After playing cyberpunk I'm realizing I probably will never like an open world game in the way I liked new Vegas... Still excited for avowed but definitely tempering expectations

Cyberpunk 2077
Too early to judge... But the controls on console are annoying... Guess I've been playing more on PC lately and the controller is annoying me... I keep trying to press the PlayStation X button... Problem is I'm on Xbox and now x is a and I keep missing QuickTime talking prompts. It doesn't seem all that next gen to me at this point. Story is intriguing but I feel railroaded (I'm still early, and I could probably do side missions but I haven't... So maybe it's my fault for railroading myself. The brain dancing is already annoying and I've only done it once(aside from tutorial) I didn't particularly like witcher 3 so there is a chance I just don't like cdpr games. Too early to say

Random video game news
I see a nomad start in your future... When the game is on sale of course. The footage thing is really weird... Especially because it was just a few days that people couldn't use their own video footage... Weird

The stupidest plot devices thread
While I agree it's hard to justify the Legion, this isn't completely unrealistic. Throughout history there have been plenty of moments, that if you were just plopped into, would seem unjustifiable. Nipton residents were ready to sell each other out for power. They were addicts. Even today the Philippines take a hardline on the drug war, killing many people. So I don't think it's unbelievable to think people could justify the slaughter of a corrupt town. You have to remember that it's a wasteland where murder and slaughter are normal. Sitting in a safe country it's easy to think no one would ever resort to these actions but it's just not accurate. Personally I've never managed to finish a legion playthrough because I feel dirty. But when people are desperate and there is a charismatic strong leader, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that people could justify something similar. The ends justify the means. Most empires are build on the blood innocent lives. Blah blah blah

Crusader Kings 3
I bought it day one. As is with most paradox games it takes me 10 tries before I get into it. I'm really liking that I don't feel the urge to blob in the same way CK2 always made me. Really don't like the Catholics wanting me to imprison my daughter's any time they have sex though. Going to have to change that when I get stronger.

I dunno.... I didn't get that feeling from GTA. The equivalent would be having to gas up your car. San Andreas you could be fat/skinny/buff but it wasn't done in a realistic way. I can't really think of anything realistic about GTA. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the next GTA had you gassing up your car Edit: I didn't see you also quoted the second half. Yeah I guess the world is open... But the story is not... Which is half of what I think an open world is
