Fair enough... I could see being more immersed in the world. But not more immersed in the character. Like you said though everyone's different.

I understand why people like 3rd person, but saying it makes you feel like you are "really there" doesn't make a lot of sense. First person is more immersive in the sense that you are seeing what your character sees. Not knowing what is behind you is a reality... Kingdom come is the best example of this... If you get jumped it's super frustrating getting attacked from all angles and not knowing what to do, your vision being thrown all over. That is very realistic... Even professional fighters would have a very hard time fighting 4 untrained people. 3rd person is more like watching a movie. 1st is more like you are actually the character. Again I get why people prefer 3rd... Just wouldn't say it's more immersive... At least in the sense of feeling like you are the character

From the leaks I think I'd actually prefer this game happen after deadfire.. As long as it's completely seperate from the watchers story. With the wheel being broken aedyr/woedica start to rise up and reforge an empire... Then having POE3(please god let there be a proper POE3) happen after avowed... I really don't like prequels so I am definitely bias.... But I think that could work.

I was responding to someone saying "With all the burning forests and stuff I could see the story being based around the War of the Black Trees or the Dyrwood's independence" i think it's probably aedyr based on the woedica stuff... But the storms did make me think rauatai. At this point no one really knows anything. that arrow went so far maybe it started in Aedyr and fell in rauatai

Personal preference. It's easier to judge distance in first person. Often in 3rd person the body will block the sight of your enemies. I always think 3rd person will be better for melee but then I'm swinging too early

I've read that its really hard to do the first person body... but it never made sense why its so hard

I was thinking about how they will do the watcher, and also the ciphers. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it turns out you are technically the same watcher... just a long time ago... as in, the same soul. I doubt there will be class bases... but hopefully there are way more RPG elements than skyrim. Are soft classes a thing? Having a level cap is important to RPGs so maybe its a situation where you dont have enough points to do everything well. I always laugh when i see "skyrim builds". Because never in that game did I need to think about how i was building my character. Also I'm awful at character building, so that says a lot.

Ohh okay. That makes sense. I definitely prefer when you can switch between the two, but i find combat much harder in 3rd person. Only really use it when im traveling because it looks cooler. I don't really picture myself as myself in games. More like... How i'd want myself to act. Otherwise id just hide in a corner. Personally I think i would actually prefer being able to see my body in first person, than having 3rd person. Looking down and seeing nothing is unnerving. (there is a sick burn i just set someone up for)

Doubt it. I want to be able to see my feet in first person.... Which I also doubt. Curious, why won't you play first person games?

I agree open worlds often have a problem with "why am I doing this side quest?". New Vegas did this the best because there was no real reason for you to care beyond revenge... You were able to fill in the lines of what your motivation was. I hope you aren't "the chosen one" not game ruining just such a cliche at this point. I prefer starting out as a nobody. Fall of woedica could be interesting .. that's far enough back for me. Problem with prequels is that it's hard to have any surprises.

I agree KCD was good... Janky as all hell but at least it felt like a real combat system. Instead of press 1 button all game long... That being said I'll take a good story over pretty much anything else What's everyone thinking as far as pre POE or post POE? I guess the obvious answer would be pre. Though we really have no idea anything other than its based in eora. I kind of loath prequels in general but it seems much more likely Unless it is super far back prequel... Then I'm down By

Outer Worlds Fanart
Theonlygarby replied to Craig Bruyn's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not to be a bummer but I don't think toss ball existed back on earth... Could definitely be wrong but i think it's a colony game no? -
I'm not even against class based. Just can't think of a first person RPGs that does it... Nevermind... Mass effect did it. Though it wouldn't be "like Skyrim" if it was like mass effect... I mean one is party based (somewhat at least) and the other is not. Either way, I do really like the skill growth through use of that skill. Not a game changer by any means but it feels more real.

I really hope it's not a continuation personally. It always bothers me when you start a new game as an old character... But are for some reason very weak. They did a decent job in deadfire making it believable. Due to souls being lost. But still... Not a fan of the level 1 again in sequels. In the pillars world? Maybe. But i would be shocked if it was a straight up continuation... That would annoy lots of crpg fans and also send new fans in blindly. Definitely don't see that happening. They would almost definitely have to mess with classes/magic. I can't think of any first person RPGs that have classes. How would a bard work if it is not party based? Generally first person/third person games let you choose stats but not class. "Class" is just built as you level up. Also as Achilles said, the series is not a huge success. You probably aren't attracting anyone with the pillars IP. I can't imagine there are too many people that would skip this new game because it is NOT in the pillars universe. Side note, I much prefer the elder scrolls/tyranny/kingdom come leveling system. By that I mean do a thing to get better at that thing. Instead of place skill points into skills to get better... Beside the point but still.
