  1. You don't know that for sure. Remember when the next FF was 'sure' to be on N64? They even made a tech demo for it. Hey, maybe Nintendo was too arrogant, and that led to its relative downfall. Sony isn't being arrogant at all right now. All you're "guaranteed" right now is FFXIII and its spin-off. Wii is already guaranteed a DQ and FFCC title. Yes, spin-offs, but you don't get DQ spin-offs being developed by the main DQ team everyday. It can go both ways. Heck, FFXIII might not even end up exclusive. Maybe the 360 will get some love too. Case in point, PSP vs DS. Squenix' support for the DS is crapping all over their PSP support. They go where the money is. There is no free ride this gen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well the issue Square had with Nintendo back in '95 was Nintendo's decision to stick with using cartridges for the N64. It was costly and didn't provide Square with the room to make the game they wanted to. Here came Sony with it's CD based console and Square was all over it. If the medium is still a factor for Square then they're not going to have an issue with the PS3 as Blue Ray can hold roughly 5-6x more than a DVD. Plus if you factor in the fact Sony saved Square's ass a few years ago from bankruptcy then I don't see them parting ties with Sony any time soon. Sure, you're going to see some games and re-releases on other systems like the DS and 360 but the major titles like Final Fantasy will still be on the PS3.
  2. How do you know that for sure? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For one, Sony has dominated the video game market for the past 10 years. Why? Because they've been the console with the biggest and best game selection. I know thats going to continue with the PS3. Plus, I'm a sucker for Square-Enix games and I'm only going to find their big name titles on the PS3. Hardware wise I'm truly getting a "next gen" console. Yah, Blue Ray hasn't established itself yet but go out and buy a stand alone BR player and you're going to pay around $1000 or more. For $600 I'm getting a game console and a blue ray player all in one. To me, that's getting your moneys worth.
  3. I may do this as well but right now I have no interest in purchasing a console to play games I can already play on my PC. Part of the reason, for me anyways, in owning a game console is so I can play games that I normally can't get for my PC(i.e. Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc.). With Nintendo and Sony I know I'm getting a good selection of games from Japan but you won't get that on an Xbox.
  4. I was planning on getting a Wii at launch but I'm going to hold off for a while. Their launch titles aside from Zelda are pretty pathetic and the main reason I was going to purchase it was for the multi-player but at $60 for each controller there's an additional $180 I would have to spend making this a $400-500 purchase. I would rather put that money towards a PS3 and know I'm getting my money's worth. The Wii is basically an upgraded GameCube and the only thing going for it is the controller, that's the only thing "next gen" about it. Nintendo is selling a $150 system for $250. I know it's still less expensive than the 360 or PS3 but they're still sticking it to the consumer.
  5. $60 for the controller and they're packaging the Wiimote($40) and nunchuck($20) seperately. ****ing ridiculous.
  6. Fun :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I picked this one up too. Never played the first one but I like SRPG's so I figured what the hell. Story and voice acting is lame but the gameplay is pretty in depth and fun.
  7. Final Fantasy XII OST and this......
  8. Isn't profit something Microsoft hasn't made with the Xbox or 360? By the way, I AM THE real Profit!
  9. Oblivion Wizardry 8 Neverwinter Nights Temple of Elemental Evil
  10. I wasn't talking the Gameplay in ToEE when I said ToEE LOOKED better than any IE game I've played. There's a difference there, Volo -- Graphics and Gameplay. Graphically, ToEE looks better than any of the IE games.
  11. Buggy or not, it still looks better than any of the IE games.
  12. Actually the graphics in ToEE are better than any IE game I've played and that would be all of them. Not that I don't think the IE is any good, it's just Troika did a nice job of taking the IE to the next level.
  13. KotOR 2 MVP Baseball '05 Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
  14. Final Fantasy XII(PS2) - will be the best RPG released in 2006 Dark Messiah of Might and Magic(PC) NWN2(PC) Final Fantasy III(DS)
  15. LOL I'm a stat freak too and that error bug annoys the hell out of me. My player will hit one down the line, clearly a hit, and the AI outfielder will misplay the ball and the game will score the entire play as an error, costing my guy a hit and possibly rbis. I generally play Dynasty mode and I'm in my second season. I also tend to play games in conjuction with the real baseball season so my MVP season lasts roughly 6-7 months, including post-season. I'm only into playing baseball games during baseball season because when fall hits I switch to basketball, football mode. I find it interesting that your team is the Mets and the Angels finished with the 2nd best record because my team is the Angels, which currently have the best record followed by the Mets. :D Just out of curiosity, do you play Yahoo! Fantasy baseball?
  16. Going to have to agree with you on this. Usually I don't play the same sports game for more than a year but MVP '05 has held my interest longer. Best baseball game out there, not even the new ones come close!
  17. It's definitely nothing like the previous M&M games other than the game is viewed in first person. I miss the old M&M games! Sadly, FPRPG's are becoming a thing of the past....well, ones that allowed you to create a party and battles were turn based.
  18. Normally I don't subscribe to web sites that offer faster downloads or extra content but I got an offer from IGN a few months back for 6 months @ $3.95 and normally its like $7 p/mo or something like that, so I signed up for it. Funny thing is, I think my sub runs out at the end of this month but I'll get the M&M demo before it does!
  19. Dynasty mode is awesome! I'll probably be playing MVP '05 for a while since the other 2 baseball games out there can't match the superior gameplay of MVP.

  21. ummm if you eliminate the dvd's from the picture this matches any console within the past 12 or so years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So? We're talking about the sales figures of the PS2 and 360. The Dreamcast lacked DVD capabilities as did the N64 and Saturn. Besides those consoles were strictly game consoles and nothing else. The PS2 and 360 are game consoles first but also have the ability to watch movies and get online. I'll say it again, when comparing sales figures of the PS2 and the 360 it is NOT "apples and oranges".
  22. If you actually READ the thread the point I'm trying to make here is that the PS2 and 360 have the same features and it's not UNFAIR to compare sales their sales figures. In case you didn't know, the reason why Microsoft built the 360 was to deliver a console that performed better than the previous generation systems. It has a faster CPU, more memory, better graphics, etc.. Games are now "next gen" because they look prettier. I never said the PS2 had better or comparable hardware to the 360, the 360 was built to perform better and it does just that. The features, though, are still the same. The PS2 is NOT just a game console and neither is the 360.
  23. WTF?! I never said that. Where the hell did you get that from? You stated that you can't put the two consoles in the same category when comparing their sales figures and I disagree with that. I never implied that you said one console is better than the other, this is about sales figures here, buddy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't imply that you said otherwise; I was merely making it clear that I do not favour one console over the other. I.e. I am not trying to prove one is "better" than the other. The PS2 is JUST a games console. The XBox 360 is a NEXT GENERATION living room internet interface. It runs Windows XP Media Center 2005. It will plug seemlessly into a Windows network, for streaming multimedia to any conntected devlice (Viiv). So people who want to have a media PC that plays console games will buy an XBox 360, not a PS2 (unless they also buy a media PC). When the PS3 is released, it will ALSO be a NEXT GENERATION living room internet interface. In fact, it will (apparently) ship with Linux. The next gen machines are not just console game stations, they are (hopefully) bridging that precarious gap between geek home-office and lay-person living room. Apples and oranges. Any coincidental similarity will not be bourne out as the market matures: it is a false comparison. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You still don't get it, do you? Forget it -- I'm tired of repeating myself. My suggestion to you is to actually do a little research on the PS2 before stating that it's ONLY a game console. So far you're the only person here that believes that.
