Heh. Ya know, this is a "Final Fantasy" thread, if you don't have anything positive to add or you don't care for the series then why are you wasting your time posting here? Just curious.
-
There's only been 2 games of the 11 that I didn't enjoy playing, FFX and X-2. I just couldn't get into the story and X-2 was a joke other than the costume/job system, which I thought was pretty cool.
-
I respect your opinion but I strongly disagree. Final Fantasy has some of the best story writing of any RPG that I've played, with exception of maybe the Baldur's Gate series. Gameplay has always been great, if you like turn based, and Square finds new ways to improve on it with each installment of the series. And IMHO no other game music comes close to the job Nobu Uematsu has done. Like I said before, JRPG's aren't going to appeal to everyone but just because it doesn't appeal to you that doesn't make it a bad game.
-
It's not out yet, only FF I & II, and IV are. FFV will be out for it the first week of November and VI should be out by January. FFIII is also coming for the Nintendo DS next month so if you grab yourself a DS/DS Lite then you'll be able to play FFI - FFVI all on one system.
-
Final Fantasy isn't going to appeal to everyone but it's far from being overrated.
-
Only if you're capable. " I recommend to anyone who hasn't played any of the Final Fantasies before VII to grab yourself a PS1, PS2, DS, GBA or even an emulator and play 1-6. I only suggested it to astr0creep because he stated he's only played FF since VII. I'm not a psychic so I don't know which games in the series you have/haven't played. Yes you can but the GBA versions have extra content and there aren't any load times.
-
astr0creep, you should grab yourself a Gameboy Advance SP so you can play some of the earlier titles before VII. FFIV & FFVI are 2 of the best in the series and shouldn't be missed.

I hope it isn't.

Playing Dark Messiah until Tuesday and then it's all FFXII. When the game isn't crashing and the sound isn't messing up, it's a pretty fun game!
-
Awesome! Grats to both of you!
-
So did I. I was at Gamestop pre-ordering NWN2 and FFXII and the guy asked if I wanted to pre-order Dark Messiah, which comes out a week prior. What an a--hole!
-
Well, FFXII, NWN2, and the Wii + Zelda are definitely ones I'll be getting on the day they hit stores. Dark Messiah comes out today and I'm still not sure about it. It looks good and the demo was fun but I'll get less than a week to play it before Final Fantasy and Neverwinter hit the stores. Not enough time.
-
I'll be lucky to finish 5 games on that list. So, yah some of them may be "Greatest Hits" versions by the time I get to them.
-
So, what upcoming games are on your list, Darque?

You realize that quoting the spoilers isn't helping right? " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, and Apollo is pregnant!

Amazing episode! Probably the best hour of TV I've ever seen. Hopefully they didn't blow the whole season's budget on this one episode.

I was kinda dissapointed when I learned Mr. Uematso wasn't doing the entire soundtrack but I bought it when it was released in August and actually think it's really good. It's no where near the best of the series, that goes to FF8, but Mr. Sakimoto(Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Radiant Silvergun) did a nice job.

Yes M'am!

That's even more disturbing than the picture. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If all the right bits are of a female human then all is well with the world. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Amen brother!

I enjoyed FF8 except for a few things - "Drawing" magic from your enemies, Guardian Force summons and the "grade" system at the Academy. Drawing magic was probably the most annoying thing out of all the FF games I played, even more so than watching the lengthy summons over and over. FF8 had a good story and the soundtrack was the best of the series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those flaws, despite being what they are, probably made FF8's final boss the most enjoyable one in the series for me. Since I had barely drawn any magic and was relying too much on summons, it was really neat to have the roles reversed as the GF's were being decimated and put on the role of last-minute shields for my characters, as I tried to actually deal damage with the limited amount of magic I had - all while the boss was destroying my magic *and* stats at the same time. In that context, having the extra boss forms was pretty neat. That redeemed the game's battle system for me. I would not, in a million years, replay it, though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know how many hours you logged on FF8 but I had maxed mine out at 100hrs. Alot of that was from leaving my Playstation on while having a controller with turbo features hooked up and then setting the game cursor to memory so I could draw max amount of magic from all the different enemies w/o being there.

Thanks for contributing.

That appears to be a woman with a cute bunny costume on. Doesn't look like an animal to me or a rabbit for that matter but you go on believing what you think it to be.
