  4. Arrrrgh! I can't watch it here at work. Someone give me "play by play" of the trailer. I want visual detail as well. :D :D
  5. Agreed! I hate RPG's that make you stick to one path throughout the whole game. It basically takes you by the hand and walks you to the end. I like having the freedom to explore the game world and figure stuff out on my own. Some linearity is ok but too much of it ruins the fun, imo.
  6. FFVII Sucked! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe it does compared to previous FF titles however it is still much better then the FFs that followed and it basically made what the PS1 is today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought IX was better than VII but I'll agree with you that it did make the PlayStation what it is today. I also think that the majority of gamers who say that FFVII was the best in the series never played the FF games prior to it or they did at some point but FFVII was their first. I don't have a problem with it....I think FFVII helped the series tremendously as far as popularity goes.
  7. FFVII Sucked!
  8. I enjoyed FFVIII's story and thought the soundtrack was amazing. As far as the gameplay goes....I absolutely despised the "Draw" system and while the Guardian Force animations were cool to watch the first few times it got old and there was no way to skip through them.
  9. 6 was fantastic Probably my fav <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My fav too and imo, the best in the series.
  10. And the story about a futuristic soccer player saving the world is any better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now you're being too simplistic. Any guy saving the world-scenario is used in, let's say, atleast 90% of all RPG's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was only being as simplistic as Setzer was when he was describing the FFX-2 plot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think I was being simplistic.
  11. I think random battles worked better back in the 8 & 16 bit era. I'm currently playing FFIV on my GBA and after 14 years since I last played it, I still don't mind the random battles. I think that largely has to do with how quickly you can get through a battle. When everything went to 32bit and CD-ROM media those same random battles now consisted of 3D graphics, load times and lengthy summon spells. We still have that issue today in a few RPG's but most seem to be phasing out of it. I don't think random battles can work well within a game like it did back 10-15 years ago. Now, I'm also playing Dragon Quest VIII and while that is a fun game, it still has random battles. Sometimes I find myself snoozing off in the middle of a battle....it just gets boring after a while BUT I will say this, unlike most RPG's the random battles in DQ8 aren't as frequent.
  12. And the story about a futuristic soccer player saving the world is any better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't like FFX so.... no, it wouldn't be any better.
  13. The ONLY thing I liked about FFX-2 was the return of the Job system. If the story wasn't about a wannabe Lara Croft tagging along with her Charlie's Angels crew, looking for her whiney boyfriend, I may have enjoyed it.
  14. All excellent games! If you have a PS2 there are some pretty good ones made by Nippon-Ichi -- Disgaea, LaPucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom. They're pretty in depth SRPG's but they're fun if you like that sorta thing.
  15. Played the demo that came with DQ8. Loved it. Can't wait until it's released later this year! I haven't enjoyed playing a FF game since IX. FFX & FFX-2 didn't work for me. I just couldn't get into the story and I didn't like the whole sphere system. Tidus was a whiney ass bitch but Auron was pretty cool. FFXI was actually a fun online game if you have 24/7 to invest in it. I like playing MMO's but FFXI was for the most part EQ covered with FF graphics and like all Asian MMO's they're nothing but grind fests. I think they're doing some cool things with FFXII, some which are big changes from what we've been used to in past FF games. No more random battles -- gotta love that. We'll see how it turns out.
  16. As far as console games go, I can't wait for this and Kingdom Hearts II!! :D
  17. Good read!
  18. In D&D Online you earn xp from completing quests, that you do with other gamers. You have a character which advances in levels(to 10), has skills and learns new feats. In NWN you earn xp from completing quests, that you can do with other gamers if you want to. You have a character which advances in levels(up to 40 with the expansions), has skills and learns new feats. Am I missing something here? I guess maybe a city where everyone gathers to chat before going out on quests?
  19. Grab yourself an AMD XP 2400 and use it with that 1gb of RAM and let me know how good the game runs.
  20. You will have to pay for playing D&D Online? What a rip off. I'll stick with NWN. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yah and while they're 2 different games, story wise, it's still the same concept. So why doesn't Bioware charge people a monthly fee to play NWN?
  21. That was exactly my point in a reply I made earlier. With NWN you may not have the pretty graphics D&D Online has but you get everything else D&D Online offers and more, plus you get to level your characters beyond 10!
  22. I looked back at your posts and I didn't see where you specified which type of system you were going to run WoW on? I wouldn't run it on anything less than a 2ghz system with 1gb RAM and a nvidia 6600 video card otherwise it's gonna be choppy and not enjoyable even with all the settings set to min.. Going through Ironforge alone would lock your PC up if your system couldn't handle it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing like a little hyperbole to start the day off. And places like Ironforge are less annoying now, because it's not the only place with an auction house. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok. Ironforge is still a problem even with the auction houses in Darnassus and Stormwind. I'm not saying the game won't run unless you have those specs just don't expect anything above 25 fps and about 10 in Ironforge. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still disagree. While my roommate does have a 2 GHz P4, he only has 512 MB of RAM and an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. If he turns down details, it still runs pretty good. The biggest thing about the Ironforge areas though is RAM, as a friend of ours has the exact same computer, but 1 GB of RAM and gets much better performance in the high popluation areas. I can play the game at very high details, though I do have an Athlon64 3500+ (2.2 GHz I think) and 1 GB of RAM. I only have a Radeon 9800 Pro though. I don't think the game is too demanding video wise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I was talking nVidia not ATI but a 9800 should be fine with WoW, it's the memory and the cpu that are critical, imo. My Brother has an Athlon XP2400, 512mb ram, and a nvidia 5900xt and the game runs choppy with all the settings set to minimum. The highest his fps hits is in the low 20's and it's below 10 going through Ironforge. I still think at minimum you should have a 2ghz cpu, 1gb of ram and decent video card in order to run the game smoothly. You don't need a 256mb video card but I wouldn't go any less than a nVidia 6000 series or an ATI 9600 card.
