  1. The noise quickly overcame the signal for this thread. If you want to discuss the codex, create a thread elsewhere.
  2. They actually don't make classes. The "class" is just a starting setup. It's starting stats and equipment. And they have to refill Estus pretty frequently. Nor are there Smith's everywhere. You're not going to walk from Seath's to undead burg without hitting a bonfire just to repair sword. "Technically" is irrelevant. In reality, nobody avoids bonfires. Everyone deals with the respawn. Most builds include a magic component, whether it by pyromancy, sorcery, or miracle because this is not the big deal you are making it out to be.
  3. I guess we've run out of discussion on dump stats then if we've taken to talking about mental illnesses and each other.
  4. Weapons are not unlimited, they have durability, though for most weapons it doesn't go down as fast as magic. Nobody avoids bonfires unless they're doing a challenge run. That's kind of why you have two weapon slots, there's little reason to just pick sorcery and avoid weapons entirely. It's not that kind of game where you just pick a class. Most of the time you should be allotting stats based on what you need at the moment, or what you know you're going to need shortly. And until you get to a point where you have enough magic slots and spells to use all day long, you'll want some minimum stats for a weapon of your choice.
  5. It never seems like a good idea to try and be "pure" mage in souls games. Get up some stats for weapons until you get those new spells. I played sorcerer through DS1, but used my Baldur Side Sword for most trash until I got enough spells I could afford to waste 'em.
  6. Good news, it runs on my computer smoothly. Bad news is it's a bad FPS smooth and would likely cause headaches, so I won't be playing it.
  7. I didn't even know he left Bioware.
  8. Blast that stinking dragon temple or whatever it is in DS2. I wiped so many times on the boss that the enemies stopped respawning. I get the sense that mechanic was a added at the last minute to make up for improper design. DS2 was poorly thought out. It's an anti-grind measure, more or less. It's as well thought out a game as any other RPG of the last two decades.
  9. Blast that stinking dragon temple or whatever it is in DS2. I wiped so many times on the boss that the enemies stopped respawning.
  10. She may or may not be dead. RAGNAAAAAAAAR I think he's said that the overarching story is still April's, even if Dreamfall is Zoe's. So I fully anticipate that, at worst, this to be leading up to a resurrection scenario. Or more likely she's just hiding.
  11. The point is that you have to make it from the bonfire to the boss (or the next bonfire) without resting. The enemies are part of that system, providing resource sinks and a penalty for failure. That penalty being you have to go through the enemies again. It's not until you're able to get through the enemies without using up a bunch of resources or you're comfortable tackling a boss while weak that you're ready to tackle the boss. Sometimes you choose one, sometimes you choose the other.
  12. I guess it has a few good drow portraits too.
  13. I'm a little bored with IWD's start, so I made the mistake of trying to play Neverwinter Nights again. Every time I start this thing up, I find more reasons to hate it. From the stupid and slow way characters move to there being like two good portraits, both of them suitable for nothing but evil warriors.
  14. Aside from Iron Bull, they all look a bit dull. But I guess that's the tone the franchise has been working with all along. Justice has really been the only standout, a tad bit of Morrigan too. Cole is conceptually interesting, but there's baggage there from the novels.
  15. Icewind Dale needs a better hook to start you off. I'm a fairly story driven guy and "we're doing an expedition" and "there's some caravans missing" aren't investing me any. And that Ogre in the Orc cave? Not cool. You know how many times he one-shot my paladin? Ahh level 1.
  16. When I want a wrong opinion, I'll get one from Volourn.
  17. I'm not very well experienced with birthdays, having given them up in my teen years. But this is the day he gives us a present, right?
  18. Started up Icewind Dale. The first one to die was the party cleric. Fully armored with a shield and she died before even a Goblin. 8 HP just ain't what it used to be.
  19. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in 2014 For the PC I think it was Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
  20. Thank goodness. I was positive they were going to, they'd been so oddly coy about it, I could only think they meant it to be a surprise. It would have been awful.
  21. Beat Throne of Bhaal. I've officially beaten the Baldur's Gate Trilogy. I cheated in a guy who didn't spawn for a quest and I cheated in the silver pantaloons. I'm happy with that. Melissan's so strong that the fight is actually boring. That's been my problem with the series' final bosses. The strategy I used to beat her was to just load up on protection spells and then whirlwind her butt to death. It's not very interesting to have the whole mage toolkit and just start whacking people with hammers. Some haste, armor of faiths, bless, protection from evil, planetars, elemental princes, and a wished in rest towards the end there. Did not get Sarevok to turn good, sadly. I got Viconia to turn neutral. I was hoping there was an ending where Viconia would become the Bhaalspawn's cleric, I mean, he's going to need one.
