Monty Oum passed away. He rose to fame with Haloid and Dead Fantasy, short action crossover fan films. Went on to Rooster Teeth to work on Red vs. Blue and RWBY. He passed from a severe allergic reaction that put him in the hospital on January 30th. Edit: Corrections, he was in a coma for 10 days from the reaction which occurred during a medical procedure. It was only publicly announced on the 30th.

There's enough guides telling you where to find that out there. I just looked one up earlier today for that exact purpose. Also, fun with bugs! The missing background texture from Garrus' loyalty mission is not present on PS3. I miss that one. The bug where you get ahead in Thane's is. You go to a cutscene dialogue too early and Thane starts bugging you about progress, well, this causes the dialogue to drop and you're stuck looking at a wall with no control. Bug I never noticed before, in the same mission, in the area with the walking Keeper, his shadow clips through the floor. If you have the Keeper off screen, the shadow fails to animate. Presumably the Keeper doesn't animate at all in this case to save memory or processing, but it's neat.

Back to Mass Effect 2. The morality system is probably the biggest flaw in the game. I don't think the weak main plot even comes close. You're stuck picking choices based on expectations of points so you can solve problems later, instead of playing a character or even picking based on situational demands. Anyone who's played it has probably figured the same thing out, but it annoys me enough to harp on it still. Just did the Thane loyalty and I wanted to punch Kelham for the interrogation. But since I've been Paragon so far, well, if I do that, I fear that I'll fail the Tali/Legion check later.

Finished Life is Strange Episode 1. Not as great as Telltale Games, but that might be that there's quite a bit more slice of life to it, and I'm not as drawn into that kind of thing. The time rewinding is more of a mechanic than it is central to the plot, though that may change as the series approaches a climax. Still, I thought it was pretty good. There's a few plotlines in it I'm really interested in seeing how they go.

Have I ever told you that cheap brandy is a million times better than cheap whiskey?

"I don't wanna Bust All that." Don't tell me what I do and don't want to do, Calavera.

Anyone hit up Life is Strange yesterday? That was the Steam release, today is the PS4 release.

Edit: I see this is about Bokishi saying it was cryptic, not my saying I'm checking every nook and cranny. I'm feeling better about it now that I've found a new path.

Apparently Grim Fandango has cloud saves on Playstation even if you arn't a PS+ subscriber. That's unique to my knowledge. I was wondering why it always did an extra load when looking at saves. But yeah, I'm on the second year and the passion is dying down. I think it's because I know my goal, but I don't really see how I'm supposed to get there. Well, I know how to get there, but I don't know how to get that. So I'm checking every nook and cranny for something random that will be useful. Takes the thrill out of adventure games.

The first hour or so is great.

We all kind of saw this coming (in much the same way we saw Morrowind online coming, except it didn't), so I can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed but not surprised. The original game's a great game deserving of a better polished sequel.

I'd hate a remake of Alien starring anyone. The interesting thing about Alien is that it was written entirely gender neutral, but because of the casting choices and what followed, it's become a bit of a feminist icon. I don't think Ghostbusters ever held quite the same position. I've never seen that sentiment expressed. Were there people saying Die Hard 3 should have been a Lethal Weapon movie? Or did we all just think it was fun trivia that it started that way? Were there people going around saying that Disturbia should have been Rear Window 2?

The cast is good, I just don't like the idea of a Ghostbuters reboot or whatever it's supposed to be. I know why studios do it, I just wish they wouldn't. I can imagine the cast being in a completely separate movie that shares themes with ghostbusters. And that's what I always advocate for, just because I see greater flexibility and don't have to worry that if it flops, it'll drag fond memories with it.

Could Hollywood please wait until i'm dead or with Alzheimer before they start ruining the franchises I grew up with? If you didn't think Indiana Jones was already a bit ruined by Crystal Skull, I don't know what to think.

So is tapdancing on broken glass. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. And then sold the resulting piece at a fine art exhibit. Don't laugh so much about that until you've travelled on the metro train in Mexico City. You actually have the panhandlers get on the train, put out a small cloth full of broken glass, and basically cut themselves up on it , and they stop and move on when people give them loose change.

Grim Fandango I haven't even needed a walkthrough yet!

Apologies to Obsidian

I'll take that blame. And I'll learn from it. -
Sometimes remastereds are just there to let new people play it. Grim Fandango hasn't been on sale in probably over a decade. The stinky matress analogy only works if you think games somehow decay. It's still a good game by all accounts, unless you're obsessed with graphics.

Playstation's setup for pre-loading/downloading Grim Fandango was FUBAR last night. So much so they had to release a seperate SKU to fix it and reports (including my own experience) largely indicate that made things worse. Let's go over it, shall we? First, the pre-order timer told me that it would be another day before the game released. When I tried to pre-load it, it was a 7+ gig game that required 90+ hours to download due to the crappy download speeds PS4s have been suffering for a few months. To try and fix this, it's suggested that you go to the store, find the special SKU, purchase it for free, and restore licenses. And if necessary, delete the current data, then redownload. So I did that. But then couldn't download anymore. It only has "start" and when you press it, it says it can't find the game, and wants to check the store. When you get to the store, it says the same, putting you in a loop. The only workaround found is going to the webstore from another computer and queuing the download from there. This resulted in a 4+ gig download that finished in minutes on my system. So, what were the other 3 gigs?

So I'm playing Mass Effect 2 and I have to do something I don't like doing, but I absolutely must. I have to apologize to Bioware. I know they won't read it here, but they probably never read the complaint, so whatevs. Bioware's dialogue camera is not simply shot-reverse shot. It's been part of my rants against cinematic dialogues for a little while, but playing ME2 again, I clearly was wrong. I think Dragon Age: Origins does things that way, as well as the KOTOR, but it's apparently something they have already moved past. I feel it's important to make this apology because it's kind of come up again with regards to DA:I. I defended the camera for minor dialogues as an improvement for this reason. The reason was wrong. There's actually quite a bit of well framed shots, timing, and character expression going on in these dialogues. Even if the expressions are almost all canned.

I'm too lost to say he means well. I don't think he means ill is best I can do. The prequels only showed marginal improvements and his two pet projects since that time have both done rather poorly. I have to ask if he's even trying to improve.

I can has Curse of Monkey Island? I believe they were already leaked. It's all Star Wars. I recall one was Republic Commando. Anyway, they don't even have LeChuck's Revenge. So they're really dragging their feet about MI releases.
