Aloth: Opinions
Tarlonniel replied to Slotharingia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)How is this? I didn't dare touch his import states, but I added resourcefulness and skulduggery. Will it work? Heck if I know, but I'll put the modified file up on my mod page if anyone wants to try it out.

Aloth: Opinions
Tarlonniel replied to Slotharingia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)There's at least one person looking into modifying companion dispositions, but it seems rather complex. I hope they figure it out.

Are the Companions Really THAT Bland?
Tarlonniel replied to Cyrus_Blackfeather's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)And if she defies orders but you don't strengthen the Dyrwood, then it's no surprise that she decides trusting her own judgment is a Bad Idea and she should just follow orders - once she's given an opportunity to follow orders again, that is.

Favourite Sea Shanty?
Tarlonniel replied to Ashen Rohk's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Extra bonus question - most (all?) of the shanties have two versions, one with a male soloist, one with a female soloist. Do you prefer one type over the other? I like them all about equally, except for Faithful Sailor, where I love to death the female-led version.

Huana shark carving
Tarlonniel replied to Ichthyic's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I assume it's the guy going on about his carving being real old, blessed by Ngati herself.

Edér: What happened?
Tarlonniel replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I agree, and this is the one thing I find really interesting about Edér. He seems to be deeply disturbed on some level, but we don't get to explore it in the game; we just watch the consequences play out. We chase down some woman he used to bang twenty years ago (but was not in love with, nope), watch him try to adopt a nearly grown stranger on the basis of "your mother and I used to bang," and talk with him about Eothas a little. And for the record, I have no desire to see my Watcher romance the guy. I just want a reason not to leave him on the ship the whole game. Which I currently do (sorry Edér).

Favorite Culture For Watcher?
Tarlonniel replied to Cyrus_Blackfeather's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)In games where the option exists, I like to do an outsider first run and a native follow-up.

Favorite Culture For Watcher?
Tarlonniel replied to Cyrus_Blackfeather's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Yeah, it's unbalanced, but a Deadfire + Island Amaua run is so much fun. Mine was a raider - seemed appropriate.

Is Rekke supposed to be companion?
So, apparently Rekke's language is most similar to... Ixamitl. Why the heck would that be, I wonder.

Thank you so much for making Aloth romance-able! <3
Tarlonniel replied to Faerunner's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Poking around in the files, it looks like taking the romance option at -2 puts you in the same state as kissing him at +2 but deciding not to pursue the relationship. I think this state does result in the "he loves you" slide at the end, which is... interesting. One kiss and the elf is yours!

Edér: What happened?
Tarlonniel replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Why are you assuming that the Watcher is a high-class, highly-educated woman (or man)? In many of the backgrounds that's not true. At all. I get no sense that Edér considers the Watcher in any way his superior. He's just a laid-back, easy-going, sort of brainless guy. Yes, he does have a type - we've seen two examples of it - but it's entirely possible to play a woman of exactly that type. And we know he's not suddenly decided on celibacy - he's quite ready to mack on Iselmyr. Saying that he's not interested in a serious relationship? Completely understandable; he's never really been interested in that, apparently. Saying he's not attracted to any type of Watcher at all? Don't buy it.

Did you ever feel like there was too little combat in Deadfire?
Tarlonniel replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There's not enough combat! Is a thing I have never said about any game, ever.

Seconding the above question, someone asked me for a Mac version of my mod, saying the file formats are different. Are they? Can I convert somehow without having a Mac myself?

- Ekera vs. Gellarde: The simple flowchart for choosing your faction
Tarlonniel replied to omgFIREBALLS's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Ekera, flowcharts are amazing.- having trouble rping as a priest of magran
Be aware that you'll be purposefully gimping yourself - passionate is a disfavored disposition for priests of Magran.- Favorite and least favorite companions + sidekicks
Tarlonniel replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think this is asking for an old-style Dyrwood'n lynching. Here, I'll dislike Edér so y'all can have a convenient scapegoat... oops, no, I already picked Serafen. Imagine Edér gets my second place vote- [How To] Work with Stringtables
Tarlonniel replied to Xaratas's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire: Modding (Spoiler Warning!)Thanks for the guide! I've been fumbling around based on my limited experience with the Infinity Engine, scared to death I'll break something. Now I can start studying up a bit.- [ENDING SPOILERS] The ending of Deadfire and what it means for The Lore
Tarlonniel replied to Aramintai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I was hoping for much more on that topic in this game - what it means to be a god, whether it really matters if the gods were created or (in whatever sense) natural, how the various religious sects would respond to revelations about the gods' true nature. Next game, I guess?- having trouble rping as a priest of magran
I haven't done a Magranite playthrough yet - waiting for patches - but I've done several different paladin variants, and there were times when I had to "eat" a response in a disfavored disposition because there was no other option. But normally there was at least one choice open to me in a neutral disposition if my favored ones weren't there.- Sea Shanties & Extracting Them - Is It Possible?
Tarlonniel replied to Tawmis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I love them too, but I'm no good on the extraction front. I wish Obsidian would release a DLC which included all the shanties as .mp3 files (both the male and female lead singer versions!).- Romance & Companions wishes (NON-SPOILERS)
Tarlonniel replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)More seriously, a Rekke romance would be fun. Ship-Rekke? Rekked ship? - Ekera vs. Gellarde: The simple flowchart for choosing your faction
