  1. where did you get that? It looks... interesting to say the least.
  2. I am not sure if your talking to me or not.... sicne I never mentioned Halo in my post (since I Hate that game!!!) but anyway, There are a couple reasons why I think there should be a new engine. The most important I guess would have to be that since it seems very unlikely that KOTOR 3 will be hitting the shelves in the Xbox 1's lifespan it seems only reasonable that they would want to get a new engine from the Xbox 2 so they could take more advantage of the extra power comming with the new box. The second reason is because to be completely honest better graphics do sell, and as it sits right now while some gammers were happy with LA and Obsidian keeping the old engine most of the reveiwer were not and thus gave it a low score... (mind you according to the sale results for Dec 20004 this didn't seem to hurt TSL sales). I was thinking that LA should use the engine being used for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, since this game not only sports great graphics and is a physics based engine but its also being used for a RPG so I think it would work perfect for the KOTOR series (the picts below are screenshots from Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion). I can sorta understand why somepeople are wanting them to keep the old engine but the things is with the game moving over to Xbox 2 and the leeps and bounds that have been made in graphics for computers since KOTOR first started development it just seems like it might be a good time to put this paticular engine to bed and start the third installment with a brand new engine which not only would look good but which would also allow some of the things that the developers wanted to put into this game but couldn't because of limitations of the engine. With all that being said I do have to add that should LA decide that they are only going to make three KOTOR's then by all means keep the old engine since it would allow for continuity between all three games, But if LA is thinking of making more than just three games in this series then they should maybe think of miving up to the newer engine for some of the reasons I have listed in above posts.
  3. I am not sure why people are so against there being a new engine used for Kotor 3, I know that it would help continuity if the world and NPCs all had a simalar feel. But I think that the benefits would far out weigh the losses by using a new game engine. One of the first major improvements that would/could come from using a new engine would be Physics being introduced into the game play and enviroment, Another would be the ability to have hoods go up and down at the players will, not too mention the better graphics that would come with using a newer engine. All minor stuff compaired to a great story but it would still only add to the feel of the game play. The only real reason I can see them choosing to use the old engine would be to push out another game as soon as possible, by using a new engine it would mean that the earliest the third installment would hit the shelves would be late 2006 or 2007 and not sooner, which is why I think most are against them using a new eninge. Also it hasn't been confirmed that there are only going to be three in this series, so as far as we know right now there might be 30 in this series before LA gives it up . THe talk about KOTOR 3 being put on hold stems from the layoffs at LA at the end of summer, according to IGN (I think) one of the departments that was hit with layoffs was the pre-production team working on KOTOR 3 though LA neither confirmed nor denied this, so Yes its really just a rummor that most have taken for fact.
  4. I asked her about the future, and while I didn't mind the ending I noticed and few spots where it looked like there was going to be a movie put in to explain some points but it wasn't there (the screen going black for a minute while Kreia was still talking in the background then fades back into the converstaion) I just wonder why they were never put in it would have maybe helped to rap things up a bit more. I forget who it was Kreia was talking about when this happened (I think Mira or maybe disciple/handmaiden but I am not 100%sure) but it has now done it twice and so I am convinced that its the normal but where a movie should be, but I guess the question is has anyone else noticed this?
  5. A little side note about the Pal version going gold, when I finished the game the first time I watched the credits and in the list of testers it said there was something like 4 people testing the Pal version, So I am wondering if they have been testing since the American version went gold and Obsidian has just been fixing the bugs that these testers and us poor American gamers have came accross. Not that this really impacts When the game goes gold or anything I just found it odd that the American version had some 30 or 40 people testing and the Pal only had like 4.
  6. I was using a sentinal on my first play through and by the time I got to the suface of telos I had made a lens, a power cell, and a deflecting emitter(sp?) and bought a colour crystal from one of the duros brothers. So am I missing something in the construction process or did I not have all the peices needed to build a lightsaber?
  7. I'm not sure what it's like in Canada, but most places in the US don't allow game returns. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OK I know there has been a few people who have asked how do you return software once it has already been opened (due to copywright laws and all... well all laws have loop holes the trick is knowing them and using them to your advantage). well its quite simple in fact it can be sumed up in very few words "Wal-Mart" (or any store really, but I like screwing with wal-mart so we will use it for this example). Quite simple in how this works, Buy the game try it and if it sucks well simeple return it saying the game is screwed (just pick something off the top of your head as to what might be wrong with said game doesn't really need to be true but it does help to sell the fact if it is) and ask for a different disk (new disk perferable one in the wrapper still with price tags and such still on it) then either take it to another store in the chain saying you have another one in your area, if not don't worry just leave with your new disk and then return later that day or sometime in the near future to the same store. Keep the recipt if your going to do this at any other chain other than wal-mart since they require the recipt for you to get anything other than store credit. Where as Wal-mart will allow you to return upto three things over $20 in a 12 month period without needing a recipt. Now I know a lot of people are going to frown on this and say its wrong but quite frankly who cares they get their games back and I get my money back so thats life. Also if you buy the game at another store it still works to take it back to wal-mart the only thing you have to do before you walk upto the return counter is go to the electronics section and check to make sure they cary that game in stock.
  8. Anyone else notice you had to wait until after you get through Atris's Academy to build you first lightsaber? I had all the parts on my first play through (I built them all from on telos ... sort of power crystals of course) before I got to the telos surface and had hoped I could talk to Boa-Dur and get him to build it for me while I was on the telos surface then again in the underground base but no luck. Anyone acctually get boa-dur to build one for them before the got to their first planet after telos?
  9. Since the game doesn't have Xbox live capabilities its highly doubtful that they would go through the exspense of releasing a patch for the game. Also at this moment there has been no offical comment on the problems with the game, so if they did decide to release said patch the would in effect be admitting to screwing up and they really don't want to do that...THe main reason for this is because with all the problems that come wiht releasinbg a game such as this it would sink obsidian before they even got off the ground if it was public knowledge they screwed up... if it wasn't entirely their fault (mostly LA's fault). Also it could leave LA open to some sort of law suits about them more or less stealing money from the unsapecking public (highly doubtful but look at Mcdonalds they have gotten sued for searving unhealthy food hence causing millions of people to get fat... kind of a well duh there since it is FAST FOOD but it held up in court so who knows how something like this would play out). Anyway back to the original question I would doubt it the only people who will be getting fixes anytime soon are international Xboxers and PC people (since PC people can get patches and modds to fix bugs).
  10. I think what you will find is most of the people who are complaining constently about the game are either people like hades, who are serious RPGers and hate the way the KOTOR series is set up for playability (not really a bad thing, they just aren't fans of "munchkin games"). Or people who have had some serious peoblems with the game, either because of their Xbox being modded or just old, or from getting a bad batch of disks, and thus they feel that because they didn't enjoy the game or missed out on being able to return it when they had the chance to do so, that they should put down anything that has to do with the game (once agian nothign wrong with them stating their opinion on the game and the quality of the different parts of the game but do we really need to hear it 20 times or more a day?). I myself enjoyed the game and only had some very minor problems that didn't in anyway hinder the game play. While I may not have liked the ending of the game as much as I did KOTOR I think they did the best job they could have done with the time table being moved up and having no say over it being rushed through Q&A. Now before someone comes on as says that Obsidian is as much or more at fault than LA for the story in the game lacking the zeal of KOTOR you have to remember two things first they were trying to follow the 2003 game of the year and there was bound to be problems caused by this. Secondly they only had a little over a year to develope this game while Bio had what two + years to work on KOTOR so I think this alone should grant them some degree slack as to the qaulity of game they did put out for all of us to enjoy.
  11. did you heal the guy in the refugee sector on nar-shadaa? because you gain a lot of influence with Bao-Dur, and you should be able to train him after that. mind you he has to be in your party when you heal the refugee.
  12. I think this is more than likely best, simply because it would give you the chance to answer some of the nagging questions left by KOTOR 2. Though since they (obsidian and LA) have set the precident(sp?) of picking up five years after the privious game, I am willing to bet that KOTOR 3 will also bet set five years after KOTOR2 thus 10 years after KOTOR... which will suck ass since more than likely whoever will be developing the game will choose the easy path and kill off everyone from TSL just so they don't have to deal with someone elses characters. The sad part of this is that it might also mean that we wont see revan or the exile in the third installment....yet agian <_< .
  13. yes but the helmet only came with the Mandalorian Armor on the unkown world, you know the group of mandalorians that ambush you beside the temple.
  14. I have only had a couple minor glitches with the game, nothing game stoping. 1) a broken dialoge tree in the tunnel leading to the hidden tomb on Dxun just before the mine feild. Only happened the once when Handmaiden was leading the party. 2) minor warping of characters. 3) Characters switching their equiped weapons (I.e. going from melee to blasters) when i switched between my characters. Easy fix for this though pick a type of weapon (lightsaber for instance) and not choosing another type of weapon to equipe in the second weapon set.
  15. lol! I tried my best... failed miserably, lesson is never try!
  16. Someone else had said that you don't get anything from the dueling rings so I figured I would state that you can infact can get items from atleast one dueling ring, though mind you only I only those items the once. The other two times I have gotten nothing, I think it might have something to do with either battling hand to hand in ever fight and or the random drop thing.
  17. Here is some things I think that should be in KOTOR 3 (again saying there is going to be one), 1) we should have the option of having revan in our party either as the PC again or as our master (my choice would be master since it would work for LS or DS). The Exile would be ok to have back in the party but I would rather have Revan since at the end of the game I felt more attached to Revan than the Exile. 2) I also think we should be allowed to choose from more than just human PC avatars We should be allowed to fully join the sith (i.e. be taken and trained in the sith arts by a sith master should we choose too). 3) The game should be atleast double the length of the previous games (say around 80 - 150 hours to complete). 4) We should be allowed to go from one of the normal classes all the way up to the prestige classes (soldier, guardian, weapons master just for an example). 5) I know Hades is going to hate me for sugesting this but I think there should be NO LEVEL CAP (and of course respawning bad guys and monsters), but we should only be able to gain levels at about 1 level every 2 - 4 hours or so depending on how you wanted to play. 6) The dificulty settings should be reworked so there is a measurable difference between easy and difficult so in other words easy would be the same but difficult would be near impossible for even the best of players to complete even the first level. 7) A new game engine should be used perferably one with a phsyics element to it so that you could see damage being caused by either battles and or Force powers. Force powers should be harder to earn as the difficulty level goes up so keep the whole one per level on easy and then one for every three level on normal and one for every five levels on difficult. 9) We should have the ability to have upto 10 NPCs in the party (like now) but have upwards of 30 or so NPC to choose from. 10) A better influence system would be nice since some people are finding hard to use this one. 11) Also should you loose too much influence over a person they should leave your party and also refuse to return no matter what you try to do to get them back. 12) I think they should scrap the Hawk, T3, and wookies from the game entirely. 13) There should be upwards of 20 planets to visit in the game. 14) Enemies should scale up with you at the same rate the PC does but they should gain one added level on the PC for every level of difficulty you go up, SO if your a level 10 on easy the enemies are level ten, but on normal they are level 11 and on difficult they are level 12 or higher. 15) Random drop should be more refined to allow people to pick the same stuff up from a store everytime and bosses should always drop the same stuff but containers and no body NPC should drop random things. 16) Also speacial Items should have a set place to obtain them, and be limited to one of them in the game during any play through. 17) The worlds should be twice or three times the size they are currently. Also all the doors in the game should be accessable. 18) All the Quests WORK!!! 19) Rapid transit should be brought back into the game. 20) Places to learn more force powers, both LS and DS. This is jsut a small list I could think off of the top of my head I could go on but I think you guys and gals see what I am getting at. Also sorry for the very long post here.
  18. I am sure this has been asked before but can you install the Pacifist part after HK is activated?
  19. I won a Mandalorian disintegrator and a Ryyak blade at the plus the tradional 750XP. The balde sucks but the Disintegrator is decent, it starts at 6-16 damage (w00t) .
  20. And did anyone ever find out exactly who Mira's father was? Kreia mentions Mira's father when the Exile asks about the future of all his allies. I was never able to pry anything out of Mira about her father, except when she tells the Exile she had a father once already. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On my first play through I went to Nar Shadaa last so by the time I got Mira I automatically got maga influence and could listen to her entire story and as such one of the last things you find out is that she was a child of a mandalorian who took her mother as a slave or some such... but it also said in one of her convo's that she herself was a slave used for transporting mines and ammunition by the mandalorians so to me this would kind of contradictory since it would seem odd that even a half mandalorian child would be used as a slave not trained for battle. Please if anyone can either correct me or refute what I have posted above plase because now I am wondering myself as to whether or not I am correct. Somethings that made me scratch my head in wonder 1) what changes about Boa-Dur and hand maiden after the second trip to Dxun? 2) what is that noise you hear in the background when kreia teaches you too read minds? 3) what happens to Boa-Dur its never said in the convo with Kreia at the end of the game?
  21. In ten or fifteen years when the internet has caught up to console and computer gaming in the terms of FPS then yes maybe, it could work. But at the current point in time not everyone was a 5Mbps Cable connection nor does everyone have the money to shell out for a state of the art computer to be able to play said game. Now before someone says that you don't need a 5Mbps connection to play MMO's then I will ask you this have you tried it on Dial-up??? IT SUCKS!!! way too much lag it takes all most 5 min to cast a spell and you are dead should you come up against someone running said 5Mbps connection since they will as jag said just "spam Plauge" at you until you are nothing more than a smoldering pile of Bantha poodoo. Now as to the State of the art computer well to be fair no you don't really need a fancy computer to play these MMO's but it does help considerably. But the number one thing thatl needs to change is the cost for playing the game, because call me crazy if you like, but I can't see the point of paying some $80 for a game then only to turn around and have to pay anywhere between $10 - $20 per month (not including the cost for the internet) just to play the damb thing. I know these companies need to have this source of income comming in, in order to maintain the service but come on this is kind of rediculous, why not just give me the game free of charge then buy the time eight months comes about (when I am sick of the game anyway) they will have their money and I will have yet another coaster for my coffee table. Now in case you can't tell I really hate MMO's and more than likley will never buy another one so really if they are desperate enough to kill off the series by making an MMO then by all means go right ahead and make one since from the sounds of it on these boards more than juat a few people are of the same mind set as my self when it comes to the little plastic coaster that are MMO games,
  22. Since the game has a Random loot system there are only two sure fire ways to get one, both of which are boring to say the least. The first to to keep playing the game over and over until you get one and the other is to keep reloading the game over and over until you get one. This is one major flaw in the random loot system is that we can't give anyone a dead set way to find the item they are looking for, Sorry I can't be of more help.
  23. the only help I can give you is that I have found it twice on the HK droid in Vogga the Hutts warehouse on Nar Shaada, I also found it once on dantooine at the droid shop behind Kahooda main hall.
  24. Peragus isn't the only place to find the vocabulator (sp?) in my last play through I found three before I got the final peice I needed to fix HK so it is based on the random loot system as well, so its all a matter of being lucky to find it again, or multiple reloads till a droid shop has it in their list.
