  1. Thanks for the info, I was wondering and was almost 100% positive but I figured I would ask before I made an ass out of myself.
  2. Do we know for a fact though that the entire pre-developement staff was let go? or was it just some of them? because saying only some of them were let go its possible that while the production process would be seriously happered it wouldn't exactly pervent another KOTOR from being made (to be honest I have forgoten what the article said thats way I am asking). As for what should be in KOTOR 3 I think we should finally have the option to JOIN the damb sith, and I don't mean in the way that the two privious KOTORs did by allowing the player to assume the title of a sith but to actually join up with them maybe get training from a sith master and go from there, including the whole chalenging the master for the mantle of dark lord when you become strong enough to do so. I also think that they should scrap T3, and the Ebon Hawk, to make way for better driods and better ships. Another thing that should make it into the next installment of KOTOR is a NEW game engine, what engine I am not exactly sure, I got the chance to look at the screens for the new Elder Scrolls and they look awsome saying it was possible I think thats the engine that they should use for KOTOR 3.

  4. Xbn also mentioned the fact that the work benches and computers didn't work but they pushed it off to it being an early build.
  5. You do know what random means right?.... I mean come on if something is random that means that there isn't a set place to find it and its likely you could play through 50 times before you find either of them or it could be in the next container you open that you find one of them. While yes its possible that they might have been removed from the game since the guide was printed but I think that its more likely that they just haven't shown up or they might one of the easter eggs akari was tlaking about, where after you beat the game once LS and once DS some interesting things are suppost to be available.... Not saying that actually made it in but he did say that so who knows maybe someone who has played once one way and once the other can comment.

Some people are making a big deal over the rapid transit feature and while yes it should have been put in if it is indeed listed in the manual, but Akari (I think) said awhile back that it wouldn't really be all that useful in this game since the way they designed the levels it just wasn't really going to work. So maybe the finally decided to cut it entirely from the game because of this. Also Hades said something a while back, and I think GOA also has said this in the past, guide books are made up well before the game is finished so quite often they don't match up, most tiems the guide book either doesn't include info on things that are added after it was printed or it includes things that are cut after the game it is printed either way it is usally wrong.
  7. - The ability to join the sith, not just in title, but to actually join with them and have say a sith lord take you as their apprentice. This game would have been perfect for it because the task would have worked either way. This is the main thing I would have liked to see in the game. - The ability to manipulate the crew members - The ability to influence goverenment bodies - Longer game play - Truely no level cap, And more respawning enemies.
  8. ^ I have to agree with that , I mean when you think of Sidous you don't really think of him with a lightsaber in hand the first picture that comes to mind is of him using Force lightning on Vader and Luke.
  9. I was wondering if you loose too much influence with someone will they leave the party for good or do they just stay with the party and refuse to say anything? It was hinted at awhile ago that they might acctually leave but it was never confirmed and I was wondering if it made it into the game or if it might have been cut or conversely if it was ever even intended to be in... though a dev would have to answer that last part.
  10. VMWare, thats the company, kind of a well duh moment there, but when I say the name it just kinda clicked . Yeah I remember reading that it was them they were talking to about doing the emulating so I guess they bought them so hopefully they can make X2 backwards compatible other wise its really going to suck ass.
  11. Very true I guess things do change as the release date comes closer, and My info if probably a couple months old so they may have indeed decided to scrape the whole idea of seperate versions. As I said above I read in an article from one of the game mags... I am leening to XBN (tried to check for sure but my computer locked up trying to load their damb main page) that they were outsourcing the emulating to another company, why I am not exactly sure but I just remember reading that they were. hell at the moment I couldn't even tell you who it was they were talking to. :D but once agian things could have changed since then and also adding in the fact that 1up isn't the most reliable people to get info from that makes it even worse .
  12. Two things about your post; first can you provide a link to where Steve Balmer is talking about the HDD please? Second, sicne Playstation (aka Sony) is going to make three different version of the PS3 I don't think its too far out of the realm of possibility for the Xbox to have atleast two incarnations if not three, mainly so that they don't get the short end of the stick when it comes to controlling the market... which billy bob gates loves to do. I mean if the PS3 will comes with all the same options as are listed above as coming in the next Xbox (i.e. HDD, normal console, and full computer capabilities) then I am sure M$ is look at ways to save money but to offer the same type options. I read something a while ago that M$ is working with a company who speacializes in emulating. I forget exactly where I read it but I think it was gamespy or maybe XBN (though we all know how reliable their info is )

From what I have heard described about the influence thing in the game (since I don't have the game yet I am going off of what I have read on these boards) and they should have included a way to Lie to the Party NPCs or in other words manipulate them to do your bidding. I think it was the wrong choice for them to make it so that you would have to always agree with the NPC in order to get their trust. On a side note (please put it in spoiler tags should anyone decide to answer since some might call this spoiler info, or PM me) is there anyway to acctually loose NPCs in the game, like say you loose way to much influence with them, then do they suddenly decide to leave the party because your not helping them or do they just shut up when you go to talk to them?
  14. Thats where Hitman Posted the original fix to this problem, and while I explained it above the credit for the fix is entirely hitmans for calling LA and finding out how to fix it in the first place.
  15. After reading all the posts above I would have to say skip the KOTOR engine and Skip the Source engine. I have to vote that they take two or three years and create a brand new engine from scratch. Maybe use a few tips from the soruce and Doom 3's engine but improve on them. But the most important arguement against using someone elses engine is that most wont, or have a bad track record in handling RPGs. Sure your going to have all new bugs when it comes to making a new engine but with the proper amount of time most of the bugs can be either fixed or just plain "squashed". Sure the development time in creating a new engine but I think the gains would fair out weight the set backs of not having a new KOTOR next year.

In all reality asking is the best policy but very few ever do, so when it comes to the diclaimer just include the fact that all screenshots, concept art and any other material relating to SW KOTORII: TSL are the express property of LA/Obsidian (or any other sources you should obtain material from) and that should they ask you to remove them you will do so with no question.
  17. [rant] You love patting yourself on the back for finally realizing that this is indeed a self help tech support page. Too bad this was brought up like the day after the page was setup. And as such many complained about the fact that there wasn't an offical tech support page. But incase you have failed to read some of the topics the devs do visit these threads and do respond when they can so stop pointing out the obvious. [/end rant]
  18. Try this it might work for you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What is the TSL? Can you post the instructions directly from Lucasarts? Thanks for the help. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> TSL is short hand for The Sith Lords. I never got the instruction I just copied them from Hitmans post. But I will try to clear it up a bit for you. Take 3 games (not including The Sith Lords - henceforth known as TSL) and one by one insert them into the DVD drive in your Xbox after each has loaded to the menu screen replace it with the next game. Once you have completed this re-insert the game disk for TSL and boot it up. Once the main menu is booted try accessing an old save file off of your xbox HD (hard drive) (perferably (sp?) one that was made near a workbench or whatever your problem may be), once the game is loaded try the workbench. According to Hitman it fixed the problem he was having with the workbenches and all the other problem he had previously encountered in the game. By loading in the 3 games (not including TSL) you are in effect flashing the memory buffer and causing it to reset which should allow the game to work correctly from now on.

Someone said a few days ago that each game is stored on a different page to pervent you from over writing a previous save file, so that you tend to mean there should be a way to switch between pages if you wanted to load another save file. Try look at the bottome of the screen to see if there is a button you push to do that.

  22. can someone give me info on how to check what version of Xbox I might have please. Mine was purchased last December (i.e. December 2003) I am not sure if that would make a difference or not.
  23. some of the problems that I have heard being fixed are the workbench problem (i.e. where they just don't work), freezing up while loading, and other such problems. While some people are lucky enough to have the problem fixed by exchanging the disks it seems that some aren't as lucky. As to the framerate problems I don't think that I have heard anyone say that, that peticular problem was fixed by exchanging the disks. SO I am betting that its caused (I think it was already mentioned by someone else on these boards) by the game engine being over taxed... or something to that efect. The reason why I started this thread was because by maybe finding out that it is a peticular batch of disks that are screwed, those who do have problems can either go to LA or maybe a game store and either get another copy or get the money back, I am not 100% sure on how things like this are handled so I am kinda winging it here, if anyone else has any ideas feel free to post them.

Without a receipt the only way you can get another copy (without a kind person behind the counter at the local game store that is) is to send you game back to LA and have them send you a new copy of the game. Now before you do that (since it could take weeks to get a new copy that way) I would suggest eraseing the enitre TSL save file from your Xbox HD via the dashboard and try to start from scratch so to speak. saying that doesn't work try begging at the locall game store then talking to LA.
