Vidgy Game Soundtracks
Song? Inn bard from White March. Sneakily ties to overall story of the expansion, and unlike most of video game songs, it’s not a cheese fest. https://youtu.be/bp2nCY7z4Wg But as you posted instrumental pieces while asking about songs here are my two: overall port music for Sid Meier’s Pirates! unique for each nation, and changing depending on prosperity of the port in instrumentation and key. So here is a theme in minor of poor British port: https://youtu.be/O6oiSOY46SU Soundtrack I might genially listen to outside of the game: Journey https://youtu.be/TLfj3pAlrs4 PS. Oh and the most cruel ear worm which will drive everyone around you crazy. Works reliably For years.

If it hasn’t been fixed by now then it’s unlikely it will be. The game has received its final patch.

Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Something to read: https://www.usgamer.net/articles/larian-studios-shares-its-vision-for-baldurs-gate-3-interview Swen avoids revealing any details as of now, so all we can do is speculate.

Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I am pretty sure it's just speculation. Larian hasn't unveal any details just yet. I will be shocked however, if it won't be turn-based, considering multiplayer has been their focus, and seems it still will be. When Swen talked in interviews about BG, I got impression he was more interested in it as early tabletop translation, then epic Bioware-style single player adventure. Real-time would go against core tenants of previews Larian titles like multiplayer, accessibility, clarity. And on a more pragmatic note, it is smarter for Larian to appeal to Divinity crowd, then old Infinity engine crowd. In interviews Swen seemed to describe BG3 as the next step of evoluton in their RPGs, rather then something completely different. One thing they did hint at is that they will be making changes to D&D systems - one of the things they mentioned is how often you miss attacks in D&D and how unfun it is. We don't have any details to go on, but I am bracing myself for realization that Larian's take on D&D won't be for me.

The Oracle of Wael
you can talk down both major encounters in Beast, I believe it is possible not to have to fight the final battle in SSS, if you fulfill very specific requirements. I am unaware of any possibility that would avoid battling with Oracle. Fyoncleg isn’t keen on negotiation.

A few early observations from a backer
Wormerine replied to MedicineDan's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I warmed up to every companion aside from Maia. Takehu was the last one, but it took a playthrough with a character who sympathised with Huana and their tradition. The arc Takehu got was actually really compelling.

Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)By the same logic why would you play PoE in Real Time, if there is Diablo 3? Both are isometric RPGs with real time combat and D3 is clearly better as it sold better. You assume both DoS2 and PoE compete within the same space. They don't. According to Swen (maker of DoS2) there is relatively little overlap between those two games. One is absurd multiplayer focused sandboxy Coop RPG, another is singleplayer player-story driven RPG - both are RPGs, both are isometric, but their appeals are quite different. In this forum you are likely to find people who didn't enjoy DoS2 much(like myself) because we like games like PoE - that's why we are here. Being turn-based or RTwP has nothing to do with it. Why would someone play PoE2 over (or in addition to) DoS2 in turn based mode? Story focused experience with rich world and lore, interesting quests, well constructed city, factions, overall ability to role-play. In my personal opinion a much more flexible and impactful character creation and development. When my gaming buddy visits me, we will fire up DoS2 and probably have a great time. Tried to play it by myself and it was a boring slog.- Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You wouldn’t. You don’t like turn based but someone else who prefers turn based would play it this way. The fact that the option doesn’t offer value just for you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer value to other players (nor that adding it detracts from your personal enjoyment. It might spread resources thin, or it might lead to better expected sales and overall increase games production, who knows). I personally didn’t care for the combat in DOS2, and I find Deadfire systems much more enjoyable, even in their imperfect turn based form.- Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)🤔 That makes so little sense (aside that you clearly prefer RTwP) I won't attempt to explain that in both RTwP and TB Deadfire you have exactly as much imput. But I must say that you miss a lot as there are plenty of super replayable, brilliantly designed turn based games. Whatever qualms I have with the fairly shallow FiraXCOMs I am greatful that nonsense like that is fairly rare nowadays. Any particular area requiring polishing? Also Woedica's content is great, addressing a major narrative problem, in a story driven RPG. Not to mention, that the writer won't fix whatever problems you see in combat. In addition according to Josh, which Turn-Based system wasn't a small thing to added it was worth doing, and was small compared to ship combat system - so why not have for PoE3 no unnecessary minigame and a RTwP/TB system instead?- Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's purely your preference, nothing more. Real-Time and Turn Based have their advantages and some people prefer one over another (or both for different reasons like me!) There are plenty great TB games. Funnily enough, while PoEs are great, it is not because they play in RT. Whenever TB is worth investing Obsidian should know the best after their little experiment with Deadfire. PoE system didn't translate perfectly into TB but it wasn't bad either (it had problems, but it was still enjoyable). If audience interested in TB only is big enough, it might be worth adding even if it will be mechanicly inferior to RTwP. I did full playthrough in TB mode, and it was quite fine. Ideally, I would love to see both modes available for PoE3 with ability to switch between them. We do have a few turn based RPGs, so I certainly would prefer if PoE still focused mainly on being RTwP RPG, and unlike competition, it's mechanics are designed to work in RT.- Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Perhaps the long hyped bike simulator?- What are you playing now: The New Thread
Yup.- What are you playing now: The New Thread
Wait, there is B-side? I kinda asumed they chained them together this time around as I already reached one heart, and had to pass another heart barrier. 😱 EDIT. Oh you mean summit, B-side. I have done all of that. Some of the C-sides took persistance, though those were essencially one screen long. I am talking about Chapter 9, which they have just added. It trumps anything from the base game.- What are you playing now: The New Thread
Wow, they didn't kid when they said that the final chapter of Celeste will be long and difficult. Seems like I am halfway there. It is a bit too much for my taste. I do enjoy the technical side of the challenge, but it got to the point that on some screens I am not sure what I am supposed to do. Had to check walkthrough twice now. It is telling that I switch to Dark Souls 2 to relax when I can't handle Celeste anymore 😅- Is this news about Pillars 3?
Wormerine replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Seems that way. It was mentioned before that Obsidian is working on two projects outside the OuterWorlds, so it would make sense for one of the is Pillars related. Whenever it is straight up PoE3, or if series will take a turn after Deadfire remains to be seen.- Good Old Games still good
Ah! Freespace games. I played them for the first time couple years ago. Brilliant games. Freespace2 is a must play, though I am not sure if it playable without a joystick. The best space combat games I had a pleasure to play up to this point. I find it a shame that most of Space games seem to persue "Freelancer" ideas - I never found those "open world to what you want" games to be ever good. Freespaces did one thing, but they did it rather well. So did Wing Commanders and X-WING games to a lesser degree. I should buy myself a new joystick one of these days. Had to leave my old one behind when I was leaving University.- Pre-Order
I know nothing about 2k thrusting habits. I shall quote myself then ask: "Can you read a comment before writing unnecessarly offensive drivel?" PS. [It's not like 2k is more trustworthy] would be a more grammarly competent way of putting the quoted sentence together. PSS. Jim S. likes 2K? I wasn't aware of that [sarcasm: he doesn't]. There are no good guys here.
