  1. Yes of course. The machines. I forgot about the machines.
  2. All of them? Seriously, I've never run into a civilization that all wanted to die. That's reserved for small groups of nutty indoctrinated people. We call them cults.
  3. I know right? He just doesn't give up. All he needs to do is accept he was wrong, but he can't. Eh! I love it. I mean, I can go and reply to his response to my message and say wtf man are you blind? but I don't want to man. Takes too much energy to convince someone of his errors when their belief is 100% that they are in the right and the rest of the world is wrong. Now where's my popcorn....
  4. Well look at it this way RedKnight. I've been on this forum for a long time now and I can safely say this is a really tightknit and friendly community. What people don't like however is someone coming onto the forum and then throw some mud at the game creators (because you are frustrated) and then start off in a forum fight because you cannot admit you are being a bit of a ****. To top it off you managed to get into a fight with Boeroer. I don't think I've ever seen that happen. You don't like the loot system. We get it. You're frustrated. We get it. A little advice though. Next time you come into a community be a bit more friendly in your first post. Even if it is to say you don't like something. Perhaps ask questions instead of throwing out empty statements like "whoever came up with that design should really stay as far away from loot as possible!". It adds no value to the discussion, nor does it actually make a point. It basically translates to "the creators suck". In fact If you had simply posted that line the result would have been largely the same.
  5. As one of the most famous scientists in history of mankind once said. People look to Gods for things they do not understand. Once you understand there is no reason to look to Gods. Look at it this way. On this planet there are no God or Gods and we made them up so we could feel good about things we don't understand. Once you understand there is no more need to believe in something divine. I myself don't understand the quest to look for something to prove it isn't there. It's more down to the discussion of "do you believe" or "do you not believe", rather than whether something actually exists. For instance christianity is built around something that you cannot percieve. So there is no way to prove it exists or prove it does not exist. If you compare the Engwithans with our own culture you can safely say that religion ultimately will die out. In my country less than half of the population now believes in a God and it diminishes every year. Once all religion is snuffed out people will look for something else. Perhaps even create Gods of their own. Why? Because they can. The whole thing where the Engwithans decided that they would sacrifice themselves to create them is what is most perplexing. What was their reasoning behind that choice? Because the reason cannot be that they wanted Gods to simply exist, because if that were the case they would have not sacrificed themselves. No, I think there's something more to it.
  6. Uhuh, just like the opposing faction will be waiting for you after you come back. Nah it's total nonsense, you don't have to know anything to go to Ukaizo. If you pay attention during your playthrough, multiple factions will already have leads on Ukaizo and where it is. I've said this before but your participation in its discovery is inconsequential. The fact that Eothas is going there is inconsequential. People would have discovered it very soon and found the wheel themselves. It's kinda stupid.
  7. I still find it strange that all you need is a decent ship to cross the storm protecting one of the most important things linked to the Gods. Security of Ukaizo and the Wheel is a frikking joke.
  8. I think all you need is a ship with the sail and hull upgrade.
  9. The game has so many free buffs to your character you're going to be far beyond OP in the end game. There's even a cave that gets you free +2 to all your stats. Resting bonusses and food are also more powerful, then you have potions and drugs and that stuff all stacks. Take some inspirations and you can get far beyond 30 in the stat department. It's actually a bit silly how strong you get. Hell you don't even need equipment.
  10. To be fair you can make any combination work for you. I generally play without healer or support just to make the game at least a bit challenging. Going for multiple heralds in a party just makes it so you don't need skill to play because of how much defensive stats and sustain you get for free. I mean I'm currently running a party with myself as a devoted/bleak walker and then have Tekehu in the party as druid/chanter and the game has never been so easy. I have Maia in the party and Ishiza can face tank entire hordes of enemies and she hasn't died once. If you can do that do the squishiest party member in the game it's definitely broken.
  11. Ok so it's 40% because of game mechanics. Still decent for a tank. She will often kill enemies and then trigger Inspired defenses. On this build I would reather not go Zealous focus because it doesn't really add much. Zealous Endurance is much more effective.
  12. 25% from fighter Disciplined Strikes, 15% from The Power of Money (Ring of Prosperity's Fortune) and 5% from the passive Uncanny Luck. You need 200K gold to get the 15% as it scales of the money you have.
  13. Concentration is your friend. There's a passive that gives this and a spell at level 1 as well.
  14. Pillars of Eternity 1 was far more engaging in story and the overall adventure. I also found the npc's more interesting as well. The world had more allure. Pillars of Eternity 2 is far more interesting when it comes to combat, so I play that more than 1. Unfortunately the story and everything else is not very good. I don't like the world, the adventuring, I dislike most of the companions and the story and its delivery is very poorly done.
  15. For me a crusader is more effective if you already have casters in your party. A chanter is nice, but a paladin that can kill quickly is more effective because it can continuously grant +12 to all defenses +4HP regen and +1 armor to everyone. It's also better in raw stats than a herald so more sturdy as well. Self regen, better stats. I like to give Pallegina the crit build with Lord Darryn's Voulge, the power of money and the +10 accuracy from Ring of Focused Flame on fire attacks. (45% hit to crit conversion is pretty decent) Then go full tank mode. Can't kill her while she maims the enemy and buffs your party? Yes please.
  16. He actually always says that when you go in there with him for the first time. Since he entered before you met him and failed.
  17. Not sure I follow your reasoning, excatly, but I guess at the heart of the debate is what consitutes a "god" to begin with. If one likens "god" to a creator god, then, sure, they aren't gods. If, however, you don't think that's a neccesary requirement to be called a god, if a god is "simply" more of an incorporeal, immortal, supremely powerful being that could have been created by something/someone else, then they are gods. No matter if they started out as kith. Thaos' and the Leaden Key's deception isn't that the gods aren't real - the entities known as Berath, Wael, Magran, Eothas, etc. obviously exist - but what the gods are, their origin stories, the history of their creation. So, I would say that the question of the true origin story of the gods, vs. whatever origin stories the believers were told for centuries, is at the heart of the story. Hm I actually think that for Thaos it's not about people knowing how the Gods came to be per se. It's more about not letting people know how the Gods were created so they wouldn't be able to repeat the process or even undo it. This also links directly to events in PoEII. Thaos wants to preserve the Gods. He needs to prevent the creation of the Gods to become global knowledge. Animancy is a way that links to what the Engwithans did long ago even though it is in its infancy. That's why he stops animancy as well. If their origin stories didn't include the means to replicate it or undo it then Thaos wouldn't have minded. He would have left it as is. I think in this sense it is what house2fly means by being fake Gods. Because I think his reasoning is that a God isn't real if man can have power over its creation or undoing regardless of how powerful the entity in question really is. It's a fair point. If a God entity is unknowable it is far easier to sustain belief in such a God, whether it actually exists or not doesn't even matter. The Gods exist and have effect on what happens in life or death as well. So it's not about not believing in them or not accepting them. It doesn't matter what people believe. All Thaos wants is to preserve them or even strengthen them.
  18. I don't think it has an equivalent in any eastern Asian countries. Probably more western Asian. Such as perhaps Turkey.
  19. He wants to conceil them because that's what the Engwithans purpose was. For the Gods to be Gods and have people be none the wiser. A God is more powerful if it is unknowable. He's not against Animancy intself, he just wants to protect the Gods. I disagree though with you on your assumption that he is affected by this in the way you describe. He simply wants to retain what currently exists. As so many people do. People are shortsighted animals and naturaly resist change. The fact that the Gods weren't real didn't affect him. The fact that the Gods could disappear affected him.
  20. Outerworld doesn't look like a survival game at all. I'd compare it to Mass Effect if anything. That also didn't have a sleep/food option and no one requested it either. People are only requesting it because Fallout 3 had it. Perhaps we should just wait for the game to be released and then play it to see what we want in it rather than mindlessly requesting gimmicks from other games to be present in this one.
  21. Define God. Christians will not accept the Engwithan Gods as Gods per se. It's more of a theological discussion if any. A divine being that stands on the precipice of creation? Governs life and death and the way of the world is shaped? Well the Engwithan Gods are just that. Sure they were created by the Engwithans, but that point is moot if you ask me. They sacrificed their entire civilisation to create them. All of the Engwithans were killed to create the Gods. Beraths wheel was created to guide souls into new bodies, this is why some people have memories from past lives. The Wheel also serves as a way to siphon power to the Gods and make them truly immortal. Thaos is the only one that was allowed to keep his memories although I don't recall the means that was used. The others are called "Watchers". They retain some of their previous lives and most are destroyed by it by going mad. Truly awakening like the MC Watcher is rare. Your meeting with Maerwald is especially insightful if you know what's going on. For me, it's an easy discussion. I don't believe in an entity that has always existed and just decided to create the world. That makes no sense at all and is just lazy thinking. So Gods created by man is actually very realistic to me. Thaos wasn't driven to despair when he found out there were no Gods. He's trying to make Woedica the most powerful singular God. That is his ultimate plan.
  22. As long as you can go anywhere at any time it is open world. Loading screens, hubs and whatnot have no impact on what type of genre it is. There's many open world games that have hubs. I hope this game is a bit more lineair so we can actually have a proper and engaging story. If the hubs become available as you progress through the game's story (like in Borderlands) then that would be good I think.
  23. As a last resort that could be used, but then I would rather have these settings in the game itself so I don't have to bother with them outside the game or even having to change them between games.
