The main problem with levelling up and classes is that all classes are treated the same. None are actually unique. They all gain abilities and such the same way. Adding a grimoire to a Wizard with free abilities is actually kind of weird. It would be like giving a Barbarian a tome with 18 free abilities. When comparing Priests and Wizards for instance it's actually rediculous how many different spells a Wizard gets to cast when comparing to any other spellcaster. The only way to work around this is to not give a Wizard spells to choose from, but give him more passive abilities or specific empowering ablities to change the way spells work. And then have only Grimoires to cast spells from. Sure make it customizable and remove grimoire swapping. I mean each grimoire contains a handful of spells. It's a huge book. Why carry many huge books, when each one can contain all spells easily. I think they tried a different approach to the DnD memorization of spells and well... failed. Just go back to what DnD does. Maybe tweak it a bit. Or go the way the Warlock works in DnD. but don't try both and add grimoires.

Iovara help vs Thanos?
AeonsLegend replied to Areex's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Especially if he uses the infinity gauntlet. -
Unfortunately you can't see what a history has in terms of choices. For instance if Devil of Caroc spared Harmke then you will be able to obtain the DoC breastplate which is extremely strong. If the choicse was to kill Harmke then you will not be able to get the breastplate. For me I always create my own history and not put in some pointers in the name of the history. I put in a request to see or even alter the choices of a history after it was created, but alas. No deal.

Bonusses are applied based on your descisions either from imported character or the story creation in PoE2. It makes no difference. For instance if you choose to absorb the souls in Undying Heritage in PoE then you will gain your +1 Might and +5% HP after the quest A Distant Light. I only imported a character once and now only play with a setup chosen in PoE2. Bonusses are applied just fine. Mind you though that PoE2 doesn't apply all bonusses you have gained through your PoE playthrough. Talents such as Song of the Heavens and Blooded Hunter do not carry over. Also some talents from PoE are changed (nerfed) a bit.

Don't know if I can agree. Most older gamers (who were around for it all) consider Mass Effect 1-3 the best that Bioware's ever put out. Mass Effect was released in 2007, it was already in production when they were acquired. They were allowed to finish the rest, but only if they catered to more mainstream. and this is very very apparant in the upcoming sequels. Granted I do think that ME2 was very good and I bought ME1 on a whim and I really liked it. I do like the fact that they enhanced the gameplay moving forward, but the entire roleplaying aspect has been dumbed down. They weren't even able to give ME3 a proper ending. And let's not talk about the mess afterwards. I don't know what you consider older gamers though. I mean 2007 is only a few years ago. I bought Baldur's Gate on release day in 1998 and I was already 20 at the time so by no means "very young".

@Verde, I really hope they end the Watcher saga and just start over somewhere in the future where the effects of Eothas' actions can be seen. Just continuing the saga where it left off feels really stale and forced. I don't think it will be any good. We're better off going to the future where the Watcher and his palls are stuff of legend or maybe older or whatever. Probably shouldn't be part of the party. But it may be cool to have Eder join a new fresh party, but himself being a veteran and 10-15 years older. I rather not have any of the other party members have a revisit. Most of them are just too annoying. Maybe they can be an NPC somewhere that doesn't join the party. But going through more forced story with the same stale team. Nah. It had a good run, but it's time for new things. I would prefer that they put romance with Pallegina. XD She deserve love. She doesn't and will never even love herself. Plus she's super self righteous, short sighted and works for money grabbers. Seriously not a woman I would ever want to be near to. She's got 0 redeeming features.

Unity Console has always caused stuttering for me. I only enable it to even out XP across my characters or when I want to test things. After that I disable it. Too bad it requires you to uninstall it with the script and then in most cases you have to run a data check on your steam files or otherwise the game will not load propperly.

How is this Easy?
AeonsLegend replied to Williaal2's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Shades have high stats and hit hard with Ice attacks. Perhaps you're simply underlevelled. Getting some more DR vs ice will help if that's what's killing you. It's been too long ago since I played PoE to know what the recommended level is. Also party setup will make a difference. If you have no Paladin, I recommend getting Pallegina and give her the Zealous Endurance AoE buff. That will make all your characters more tanky. -
The Master Below [SPOILER ALERT!]
AeonsLegend replied to Khangster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
If it wasn't so difficult, I would prefer to kill the dragon. But so far I haven't done so, because the other fight is easier. I wonder if PoE made dragon fights so difficult on purpose to discourage people from killing them. In DnD Dragons are harder than in PoE. I do think Adra Dragon is pretty strong for the time you find her. I think I would be disappointed in fighting a legendary immortal and all powerful creature if I could beat it easily. In fact, knowing how to fight them makes them rather easy as well. There's so many potions and buffs you can use to make your characters invulnerable to the Dragons. -

I go the way that nets me the best benefits. Getting scale-breaker and killing the Adra dragon. Always. -
If your perception allows you to hit the enemy getting more is not useful. Some stats, such as accuracy and deflection, have a point where getting more is not making your character more powerful. As there is built in growth in these stats there will be a time when your basic stats are better than the enemy. It is then far more important to have points in a stat that doesn't have this break point. Such as Might or Intelligence. These stats will always deliver. In short: your to hit chance is 99%. Is it worth getting that to 99.1% or do you want 3% more damage? Answer is easy.

Look at it this way. In 2007 EA acquired Bioware and it's all gone downhill from there. They delivered some of the most memorable games, but I feel that EA has a really bad influence on it's subsidiaries. I don't feel at all happy with the way they were going and I don't feel at all happy that they aren't capable, or more likely, "allowed" to bring us the games WE want. And that's single player engaging story driven WRPGs. If ever this happens to Obsidian then they are in the same boat. Will you be hating on the people that had no choice as well? I don't understand how people can hate on a company this much though. You speak like they personally failed you. It's actually kind of sad.

I never use Xoti anymore. You can use Pallegina with her AoE heal and build her tank with fighter/paladin and give her another AoE heal shield called Lethandria's Devotion. Add Ydwin for damage and another heal with Pain Block. If you don't want to add another rogue you can have Ydwin be Cipher/Rogue. Pallegina doesn't work well RP wise with many people and most notably with Tekehu and Maia. Now if you're really wanting to have full party members you could go with Serafen as a secondary Cipher. Pretty useful. I think Maia or Pallegina will leave if you choose the opposing faction so pick one or the other. Mirke is a good pick for frontline dps. Konstanten is pretty good as a chanter for even more healing and alround spellcasting. If you still really want a priest you have only Vatnir from the beast of winter dlc. I myself really like Fassina as a spellcaster and usually dual her with druid for AoE raw damage abilities. She's a conjurer so she cannot cast evocation spells. Her damage spells come from the druid class strangely enough. So: Pallegina (frontline tank) fighter/paladin. Unkillable. Ydwin as cipher/rogue. Basically a support/dps character Konstanten for more healing/support Fassina for wizard/druid ranged spellcaster Now you can exchange Fassina or Konstanten with Mirke if you decide to go ranged. I always feel it is a good idea to have two frontliners so you can protect your backline better in open areas. But that's up to you.

Difficulty has nothing to do with the game itself. It has everything to do between balanced classes and stacking. Having a chanter and paladin in your party basically makes you invulnerable. Why don't you play without a chanter, priest and paladin and then try PotD without creating your own party, but just use the ones given. some parts will still be easy, but some parts will be rediculously hard.

BS skeleton fight
AeonsLegend replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Party setup, build and equipment make all the difference. Early game can be excrutiatingly hard or a cakewalk, with just a different MC. I found that Ciphers early game are simply overpowering everything on Port Maje Island. I haven't done it solo, but I finished Gorecci Street with just my MC Cipher and Eder Swashbuckler on PotD. It wasn't easy, but if you can charm the enemy it becomes doable. Also Boeroer. I played an Ascendant recently and the amount of raw damage that sucker puts out in the late game, critting enemies left and right with disintegrate is just disgusting. all you need is a wall in front of you (Pallegina and Eder) and then just go have a coffee when you've put disintegrate on your enemies. At max level you can add Death of 1000 cuts for even more juicy free damage. -
Don't really agree with most of what you posted, but to each their own opinion. Like I said before I think it'd be a huge mistake to continue the watcher story and keep the stale old companions. It'd be far more interesting to step a bit into the future and see the results from Eothas from that perspective. with a different main character that has a link to what's going on in a different capacity. Maybe a watcher, maybe something else as a result of PoE2 story. It'd be refreshing because there's so much that could be different and things to discover. Some things are just meant to be pondered and not experienced to be effective. With regards to the companions. Eder was mildly amusing, but became a charicature of himself in PoE2 Aloth was a good wizard in the first game, but became some sort of self rightious prick in PoE2. Please begone. Nothing to say about Durance, he's dead in all my playthroughs. Grieving Mother actually has something to add for future games. She's the only one that can link on a deeper level to a watcher. If we follow another watcher or similar type of being (which I think we should) then she can definitely be there. Maybe not as a party member, but she can definitely do something other than follow you around like the others. Pallegina, I actually liked her in PoE, but I dispised her in PoE2. Hiravias. Sure he was fun, but meh. Why have him along for more? Sagani. That was pretty much done with. She was interesting as a sidekick, but since that story is finished she can't really add anything because she has no link to the main plot or watchers. Kana. He was as much meh as meh could be. Loved his voice acting though. None of the new PoE additions really worked for me and the PoE2 ones are ok, nothing special except for maybe Ydwin. I'd like companions to be a bit more invested into the main story other than "Oh yea I was here doing nothing so now I guess I'll just follow you around and put my life on the line for no apparant reason whatsoever." That's basically every character in the game except for maybe Durance (Can't believe I'm saying this!!) and Grieving Mother. The others have no reason whatsoever to follow you. At least not for a considerable amount of time.

Color Palette and saturation

Sure, try to talk your way out. I guess on your planet cloning only includes getting the color "right". -
Color Palette and saturation
AeonsLegend replied to AeonsLegend's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The art style is completely different from Borderlands. It's basically Fallout with immense oversaturation.Interesting. I didn't say anything about the art style but in terms of color pallet and concept I'd say a good mix of Fallout and Borderlands equally, easy. I know you didn't. You said borderlands "clone". Now if you want us to actually understand what you're trying to say, maybe be a bit more specific. The only thing I see similar between this game and Borderlands so far is the color palette. With an art style that doesn't match the color palette I feel it's out of place. -

Probably too much to ask for but I'd like the option to choose between at least 2 from each class, so you don't always have to run with a similar group of people. Plus with all the sacrificing and killing of party members in PoEI and PoEII you could end up with very few options. I think PoEIII will be a fast forward into the future with a new "watcher" and allies. Or maybe not even a watcher, but something else.
