  1. Archer is somewhat working properly. This is one of the cases where you need to be careful and pay attention to the "roll optimizer." When Merisiel plays a Light Crossbow, it uses her Dexterity for the combat check: d12(dex) + d8(l.crossbow) When she plays an additional Archer, the game reads through the card and thinks, "ok, I think we need to switch this to a Ranged attack!" Since Mersiel doesn't explicitly have that skill, the check changes to: d4(ranged)+d8(l.crossbow)+d4(ranger) However, you should be able to just tap on the check type in the top-center of the screen and change it back to a dexterity roll. From a rules-lawyering standpoint, regardless of whether or not a character has or uses the Ranged Skill, the act of playing a weapon with the Ranged Trait turns it into a Ranged Check. The wording on the Archer card is loose enough that applies to any Ranged combat check, not just just combat checks that use the Ranged Skill. The creator of the tabletop game explained as much here.

[Please bear with me, this turned into a longer-than-anticipated answer....] To be honest, few really understand what's going on here, and it's slowly causing problems for players and the game as a whole. The last few weeks of Steam reviews have been pretty ugly, specifically because of mixed perceptions on what Treasure Chests actually do. When Treasure Chests started out, all they did was add new cards and dice to a players overall collection. The more you opened, the more treasure cards were added to your collection (AKA "The Game Box"), and the greater the likelihood of randomly encountering them during play. Simple enough. However, a common complaint was "hey, I opened a bunch of Treasure Chests but when will I ever get to use them?!" It was a reasonable concern. In order to ensure the game played mostly similar to tabletop, the amount of treasure cards allowed in any given scenario was gated, and prevented the normal campaign cards from being flooded-out by your collection of boosters. It keeps the game somewhat uniform, but as a side-effect, restricts the number of treasure cards seen in play. So, starting with the PC release, we got the stash. Because there it is a "buffer space" for cards that exist outside of "the box" or your character inventories, it gave the developers a way to address that issue. Now, every time you open a Treasure Chest, copies are still added to your collection (increasing their odds of encounter during play), AND a courtesy copy gets dropped into your stash so you can immediately put it to use (instead of waiting to find it). What started as a goodwill gesture to address a common player complaint, has now angered an entire other group of players who see the Treasure Chests as "loot crates" and the loss of those courtesy copies as a personal attack on whatever time or money they may have invested in the game. Soooo..... back to the questions at hand. Yes, you lost a few instances of a card you possess, but they are still in your overall collection and may be discovered again someday. You have retained the same total quantity of treasure cards in your account, regardless of how many stash instances get lost or salvaged. It is frustrating that bugs can eat cards from the unclaimed stash, but customer support should be able to reinsert them you've kept track of what disappeared. Otherwise, maybe you'll just see them again later as you play through the game.
  3. That seems to be known bug right now. It's the same on iOS as well. The in-game store isn't aware you purchased the content, but the rest of the game knows when you have a license for the Goblins campaign, and will happily let you play it. The store glitch can be safely ignored until the next patch rolls around.
  4. Money funds development, developers create content. The more people that opt out of that loop, the better the chance that the game dies a quiet death. Without even forcing users to watch annoying ads, it was fairly generous of Obsidian to have let almost all the mobile content be unlocked for free. Try not to pretend that anyone did the developers a favor by doing so.
  5. If I recall correctly, it's actually a pretty sad story. She had to sell her beard to a wizard in order to afford passage from Naasitaq. Her quest to find Persoq required far more sacrifice than the player ever knew.

  7. Well, that's exactly what it is now. It is a paid game on Steam, and while the mobile edition offers some demo scenarios, you have to buy the rest of the content or merge your PC account. I know it sucks a little that there was some expectation that mobile might stay F2P forever, but the various game economies were getting out of balance, and the fact that Steam and mobile could be linked only made things worse. Sure, the change came without warning, but the only paying customers that it should have had any effect on are those who just purchased a ton of gold thinking they'd use it to unlock the remaining scenarios. If that happens to describe anyone, shoot an email to support@obsidian.net. They're reasonable people, and may be able to hook you up. But as far as non-paying customers go, I guess I'm a little more sympathetic to the developer. Nobody is losing things they'e unlocked for free over the last year, but if there is going to be any further content or bug fixes, such changes were inevitable.

  9. After some critical response to the loss of treasure salvage (the under-the-hood cull), rules were modified a bit. The system is still technically there, but you can now have up to thirty of any treasure card in your collection. It's still enough to for a six-person party to have five each. And honestly, the odds are very low that you have thirty Dragon Smiters or other particularly awesome cards. edit: cleaned up the post a bit.
  10. Wait? So, how's that going to work for NPC romance options? If my character is looking settle down with a nice dwarven shieldmaiden, must one court every dwarf they find and hope it works out?

  12. I'm sure they have their reasons, but the in-game economy has been out-of-whack for a little while. Content ranged from stupid expensive to basically free. The new structure adds value to the bundles, and better focuses in-game gold as the single in-app currency for things like consumables and treasure chests. The old way was generous, but Pathfinder's add-free hybrid F2P was a little unusual for commercial games. To be honest, requiring a little more cash is probably best for the long-term viability of the game. There's almost no chance of seeing Skull & Shackles get developed unless you can convince MrBishop to be paid in Pathfinder Gold.
  13. Pick your favorite Rise of the Runelords save, and you should see a new mark on your map a little north of AD3. You need Valeros in your party to start his special set of adventures, but that's about it. Good luck!

  15. Alright, I'm sorta going to start off by answering your question with some other questions, as different cards are best acquired in different ways.. What do you mean by "legendary loot"? A Loot card that you are awarded for completing a scenario? Or, are you talking about legendary treasure cards that you can get via opening chests or randomly as you're burning through location decks? Loot cards Loot cards themselves (the kind you specifically get for completing a scenario) are only awarded once per a party's play through. However, there are tricks to regain lost loot cards or farm out a couple additional copies if you really want to do so. I'm reasonably sure this trick still works. It's a non-competitive game, so the app isn't too strict on keeping you from over-acquiring some cards you should only ever have one of, or bending the intent of the rules a little bit. Loot cards do not appear in treasure chests, so that is also not a viable way of acquiring extras. Treasure Cards Treasure cards follow similar rules to other cards at their Adventure Deck level. They have the possibility of being encountered in any scenario at their Adventure Deck level or higher. If you are looking to acquire some AD5 treasure cards, then they will only appear in AD5 or AD6. Opening treasure chests to immediately gain a few treasure cards is another option as you'e pointed out, but there is no guarantee what you get will be of interest. The best way to grind for treasure cards is to play with scenarios 4-6 characters blast through a few boon-heavy locations before forfeiting. Afterwards, you can still keep whatever cards you've found even if you didn't actually complete the scenario.
  16. You should not need to rebuy anything when accounts are linked up. What has helped for a number of people with that issue is to restart Pathfinder on both devices after you have linked the accounts. Quit then relaunch on steam, then force quit or close the app on your phone. After you restart Pathfinder on your phone, the Goblins content should transfer over.
  17. Sadly, the card is unlikely to return after a patch. That particular copy of Doctrine of Cayden Cailean may have been lost, but those cards are still in your collection. There is a small chance it may be found again in a location deck on any adventure AD2 or higher. The developers can manually re-add the card to your stash, but it may be a little while before they get a chance to do so. Wish I could help further, but there isn't much of a community-side fix to offer.

If the app isn't immediately granting you a reward card, then the server usually takes care of that when you restart the app. If an app restart isn't doing the trick either, it means that there's an issue server-side. If this comment is any indication, at one time a server issue was identified, and a fix occurred. Maybe during the Goblins update a regression happened and an old script went active again. (?) Anyway, the next app update is probably coming pretty soon. Aside from whatever bug fixes that may get rolled into the patch, it is often accompanied by a few updates on the server. If you don't hear back from Obsidian support, check again sometime after the Valeros DLC goes live in the coming weeks (?).
  19. The Banana update is schedule to be released in June. Last June? Next June? I dunno. Probably, one of them. However, for a game that has been widely advertised as being able to make fresh delicious waffles, I am saddened to report that the recent Steam release has only made things worse. Compared to tablet, it is actually much harder to clean the excess waffle batter from a keyboard! Still, awesome work on the recent goblins DLC. Looking forward to the glorious, waffly future. #KeepCalmAndPathfinderOn
  20. Unfortunately, there's not much of a "free" workaround. You will have to buy the Steam version for about $25, and then merge your iOS and Steam accounts to sync your characters and content between platforms. Once you do that, all your iOS characters should transfer over to the steam version. Just follow the instructions above, generate a link key on your iPad, then enter it into your steam version of Pathfinder Adventures. I don't know if the Pathfinder Ambassador program is still active, but if you previously bought the RoTR campaign on your iPad (or $25 worth of other stuff), you may be eligible to get a free "Obsidian Edition" upgrade once you purchase the base Steam version. The 10%-off coupons they were offering may have since expired, but the free Obsidian upgrade may still be available.

Recharge - Take the card, and put it in the bottom of your character's deck Shuffle - Take the card, put it in the deck, then shuffle it Shuffle is often preferable because there is a greater chance of that card cycling back up to the top sooner. In Kyra's example, when she plays a Blessing of Sarenrae, she can recharge the card (put it on the bottom of her deck), or spend a Power Feat to shuffle it into her deck instead (should draw it again sooner). Seelah has a similar power, and once you get enough of the target blessing, you can fearlessly sling blessings around for free explores or provide assistance on checks. The upgrade doesn't seem like much on the character sheet, but it can really enable you to quickly cycle your deck and constantly play blessings.

  23. Yes, I had a similar experience. Main characters on iOS, then purchased the Steam version with Obsidian perks. Post-merge, your account will be the sum of all your content (iOS purchases, treasure cards, gold + Steam DLCs, treasures, gold). Parties and characters don't quite stack together in an "additive" manner, so the platform that generates the key gets to be the "master account" for the purpose of the merge. Generate the merge code on your iOS device, and then enter it into your Steam platform. Once the merge completes (might take a few minutes), your iOS PFID and Saves become linked to both your iOS and Steam platforms, and the total content you own on both platforms is available everywhere. After a restart, both platforms should have identical content. I don't know if the merge has changed since launch to address what happens when you have different characters on both platforms, but it is pretty safe to assume that should there be any conflict, the device that generates the key (iOS in your case) wins out. You shouldn't lose any content in the process. Just take care which device generates the link key. That PFID is the one that "survives" the merge process, and has all the DLC, gold, treasure cards, etc... of the other merged into it.
  24. No, it's not about rolling for damage. It is when you have a long string of "Before you act" rolls you don't care about, and inadvertently throw an unmodified d6 when the combat check comes up. Not gonna lie... it's happened to me a few times... Anyway, I know I was just being inattentive; I'm not going to call out the rules for being broken or declare this some terrible bug. Things actually are a lot better now as of the February update or so. The display in the top middle of the screen now tells you why you're rolling. When the Villain comes up "Check to Defeat... Combat" it's time to take a mental pause and start emptying everyone's hands of blessings.
  25. Yeah. Totally a bug. "Before you act" issues pop up from time to time and have been periodically fixed over the last year. From the "outside" it is difficult to guess if the problem is with individual cards, or the game engine itself. But since it feels like BYA problems have been addressed on a case-by-case basis, and the remaining issues appear concentrated in AD5/AD6/ADG1, it is probably a logic bug with specific cards.
