  1. Yeah, I venture on some Steam forums I "have to", but I generally suggest avoiding them like the plague. And the mentioned threads (like cost) appear on every single EA forum... The concept of EA is hard. People wanting game 'NOW' doesn't help either, and that they then complain it's unfinished/lacking/etc. What do you expect of an unfinished game? Or expect serious discounts for going into EA (seriously, what? Why would you get 90% off for buying it earlier. I hate pre-orders as much as the next guy but I can see that makes no economical sense) tl;dr see TrueMenace's post.
  2. So, a day-1 patch can just be released before cause reasons. Patches don't magically transmute through time, so they can't be done faster, as neither games can. Do you understand the concept of time? (it works one way, not the other)
  3. And just to remind everyone "player feedback/information gathering" was what got us Dragon Age 2. If that doesn't make you want to have developers steer clear of it, I don't know what will... Welcome aboard Albatao, and hopefully you (and me) enjoy the game to it's fullest.
  4. It's not just Obsidian, every RPG of a decent size has such issues, even those who questionable have any C&C like Bethesda games. And it's been always the ones with the hardest troubles at launch (Deus Ex, Bloodlines, KOTOR2 etc.) who have become classics.
  5. By making movement around the battlefield an actual choice with risk. You want the better ground, is it worth the trade-off, yes/no. Rather than just mindless 'yes, move'. IMO combat is all about making choices between pro's and con's of the moment. If there are no con's, it's not tactically interestingly to add, auto-go-best stuff is best to avoid to make an interesting system.
  6. Day 1 patch means exactly what it's called. It's extremely utterly unlikely this will be the only patch though or, in true RPG-standard, this will be a smooth sailing from the go.
  7. Marry me. Ehm... I mean; I totally agree with you. Crafting replacing actual found loot is one of the worst things of modern RPG's. Who the heck *wants* that? I know Witcher II was such a let down since all you find is meh stuff, and the good stuff is made from 200 wooden planks you find scattered everywhere poluting your inventory and making actual item progression in the game a chore rather than fun. Also, I agree Baldur's Gate II's crafting is how crafting should be. Finding X unique items and merging them. Not just random metal in some pots and then making GodSlayer +30.
  8. Pffff, 155. KOTOR2 has 660. And that doesn't even include all threads lost when they merged all subforums into one.
  9. Ah, manuals... I feel so old now XD Still hate reading them in .pdf rather than on paper though...
  10. AFAIK in the full game you're able to select which options you want to (dis/en)able of Expert Mode upon starting a game.
  11. I just think that giving a penalty to recovery while moving is a good way to make combat tactically interesting (ie. moving has a cost, so decisions about placement and movements need more thinking). Now I know that Sensuki disagrees and wants to remove tactical thinking, planning and execting in favour of unlimited movability, and that any crowd control by PLACEMENT rather than ability is a big no-no (lol), so it makes sense we disagree often about this particular way of thinking. IE. I want movement to be a tactical decision rather than 'lol, because I can'. Movement during combat is boring if it can be done without any forethought what-so-ever, cheapening it. That's just my way of seeing stuff though.
  12. Perhaps 'scheduled' to be fixed after gold, rather than 'found', might also be accurate. The only thing Brandon revealed about Day One patch is a revised Enchanting UI. Of course it won't be the only thing. You would be correct... my bad.
  13. We already have spoiler and non-spoiler boards?
  14. PR... Too difficulty to grasp for the modern gamer... See above. Since OBVIOUSLY no game needs to sell copies or anything. That is SOOOooo 1999.
  15. And to finish up my double-posting (now I went through this hilarious thread): Here's Sensuki's post translated from post 1: "I like apples. Apples are great. They added an option to eat apples faster, I really liked this. Then person B entered. He had 2 apples in a sack. 2! Insane. He wanted to eat both apples of that sack. Did I mention the RPG Codex finds this guy insane? I persuaded him after finishing 1 apples, to put the second back in his backpack. Then close the backpack. Then open the backpack. Then taking the sack out again. Then eating the second apple. Oddly, person B didn't think this improved his experience, and would have been much happier eating both apples without stuffing one back in the pack. RPG CODEX VERDICT: Clinically insane." And me sitting there eye-rolling...
  16. The merchants have infinite gold..? Why are they making mistakes that both Icewind Dale and Fallout: New Vegas got right? They had first limited gold for merchants but then people complained it and they changed it to infinite. omg... Next time they should reserve the Backer Beta for only Sensuki. Sensuki actually PRAISED this change, just check his thread history. He suggested it should be removed. Sensuki obviously doesn't want the same PoE I want, or you, if you wanted limited gold vendors... (Just so you know)
  17. The merchants have infinite gold..? Why are they making mistakes that both Icewind Dale and Fallout: New Vegas got right? They had first limited gold for merchants but then people complained it and they changed it to infinite. Yeah, as I stated in another thread... people go wacko over convinient looting... but similarly go wacko if another area (shopping) gets the same depth. Cause apparently "clicking each corpse" = Super Gameplay, while having to visit different vendors is a boring useless neediwork addition that needs to be killed the moment it surfaces. Do I understand you people? No... I don't.
  18. OH YOU DAMN TRAITOR. RPG CODEX SHOULD BAN YOU FOR BEING SUCH A DARNED CASUAL! But seriously, why the hell is one improvement "great" and the other "the worst ever"... double standards much?A Also I now dub this thread 'Game is improved, RPG gamers furious'... Next up I will be going around asking people to give up electricity, sewer systems or flowing water, since damn, those conviences do such so much for the people who know how a true household should be! *shrug* Oh this thread...
  19. Press, PR... HOW DOES IT WORK? Aaaanyway... I don't understand the fetish of modern gamers to want to play games before they are done... do you WANT to play half-baked bugridden messes? Would KOTOR2 in the modern day be called the best pre-release game ever, and put on a golden standard for giving it to us 2 months before it was ready? I really don't get it... It's not like they can finish it days sooner *just for you*. There's something called TIME which doesn't work that way. So unless you got a magic DeLorean somewhere...
  20. Might be confused with the BETA? Or press-releases? Or... Or...
  21. Unsurprisingly, I disagree on this with Sensuki aswell.
  22. Also, they pretty much labelled it a spiritual successor on KS, so claiming it's not is mind****-material. Anyway, I don't agree with Quest-XP. I don't agree with Kill-XP. I agree with Objective XP. To see it in effect play Deus Ex (the true one, not Human Revolution) or Vampire: Bloodlines. Shockingly supreme quality games. And even if it doesn't give kill XP I generally used combat through both of them... I'm sure the minds of some of you are now completely blown...
