  1. Yes you can go around alone with your ship afaik ( i.e. if they mutiny and you kill everyone you still canbgo around. Slower but you can). The steward was the only survivor my last run
  2. Tryng to build a "life leech build". Concept is: yo do dmg, you get heals. Things that match this concept so far are Weapons: - concelhaut daining staff (+++) - aldris blade (+) heal on crit - sanguine greatsword (++) Some wiz spells: concelhaut stuff badically Chanter: mainly the old siec chant (12% drain life) Paladin : white flames (- for the not evil theme) Ok, i know that chanter by itself (singleclass) could be the best vampire around just for old siec + spells, since the drain life from chant works also with invocation and spells. And a 7 night or even better the tornado can full heal you easily. Expecially the tornato, with the power up it bounces like 12 (!!!) times, and even if 1 bounch miss the spell still go on until all 12 bounches are done, unlike poe1 ( after the first miss bounches stopped). But i wanted to build some kind of melee leacher. Concelhaut drainig staff could be the best item in this sense, i haven't found aother item with actual life leech ( life gain based on dmg). Wiz/chanter could stack 32% life leech between staff and chant, but they haven't any kind of martial abilities. Or we can go chanter/rogue, so we have only 12% life leech, but we can stack much higher dmg and we are not binded to only one weapon. Or go wiz/ paladin-warrior, so we buff like a wizard at the start and after smash with paladin-warrior abilities... Ideas?
  3. The problem is that everything i try to do with 1 hand style come out to become better if i simply dual wield, apart from assasdination that is better with a 2hander... I'll need to brew more
  4. Since it is tank time... Nobody tried to stack plain and simple dmg reductions? Guardian stance gives you 5% dmg reduction for every engaged enemy. If you go unbroken + shieldbearer as you were discussing you can pump up to 6-7 engagement slots. Ok, is not easy to get SO surrounded even in solo potd, BUT a fair 20-25% dmg reduction is achieveble. On this you can stack: - death maws elm : 15% dmg res on kill - claim and refusal amulet modal : +15%* dmg res - undying burden belt : 5-15%* dmg res - other items? - forgetful night ( food ) : 20% dmg res - mouth char drug : +10?* Dmg res * If memory serves me right So beteeen - hig defenses ( vigorous defence + pala passive) - very good armor (+4 frm gilded enmity, usable nearly infinite since when you killed the guy you get zeal back) - pala + fighter regenerations + lay of hand + unbending - 60-70% dmg reduction Are you unkillable? Anybody tried it? I'm just theorycrafting... Ah last note: dmg reduction is applied like a normal dmg modifier: Es: if a guy hit you with a legendary sword and you have 60% dmg resistance : roll dmg + 60% -60% = you counter the "legendary" enchantment. So vs kiths ( that use often weapon with quality, and have a lot of other minor bonuses) dmg reduction is less effective. BUT vs most other monsters: their's attacks have very high BASE DMG BUT VERY FEW DMG MODIFIERS ( apart from might), so a -60% reduction could even mean a real 60% reduction of total dmg.
  5. Anybody use it? I'm planning some builds, but can't find a place in wich it is superior or even on par with dual wielding ( better mainly for full attacks) or 2h weapon ( better for single attacks/ dmg). Basically, as you got +12 accuracy, +15% hit to crit conversion, the style itself scream for a critical build. So we have monk: mainly swift flurry + heatbeat gives you about 50% to get another attack after a crit. Our better bet. Streetfighter: +100% crit dmg when flanked AND bloodied. Good but tricky to activate and more to mantain Devoted: +20% crit dmg, +2 pen. Not much more Skald: 50% of get a phrase after a crit. Imho pretty meh, since you get phareses fast enough even with base chanter, if you relly want them fast a troubador with brisk recitation does much better then a skal with a crit build Ranger: stellar accuracy for even more crits, but no skills to capitalize upon them No other memorable option comes to mind. Spells does NOT get bonus accuracy, so as a caster you are better served by sword&shield style usually. Item-wise: - gauntlets of +10% crit dmg - axes get +20% crit dmg - lot of weapons with wimpy on-crit effect but nothing that justify a build by itself Common talents: improved crit for +10% crit dmg Monk - devoted/skald could be a thing, but i can't belive that there aren't better options... Ideas?
  6. Just for know: is stated by design that the racial of fire / moon godlike DOES NOT scale with levels or is just not yet implemented? 2-4 fire retaliaton dmg on hit is really whimpy imho
  7. Also silk robe... +2 to poison power lvl. Just i'm not sure it actually boost toxic strike.
  8. Tangentially: i miss the mage talent "bonus 1/2/3/4 lvl spell". Anyone else? Since the mage passive three is so poor you think it could be added?
  9. It still does? Afaik they fixed that part ( the 50% less duration of effect on himself) On the other side spell disruption only affect "spells" ( chanter, chiper, wiz, druid, priest), doesn't do anything vs abilities ( pala, rogue, warrior, barbarian, ranger). I like it as it is.
  10. mage slayer in deadfire is actually much less onerous than the bg2 version. the bg2 version wasn't just "can't use potions/scrolls" it was "can't use any magical items other than weapons and armor" IIRC. it also had a lame 10% per hit spell failure (instead of 25%) and a really lame spell resistance (something like 1% per level). - Bg2 nerd mode on - Actually in the extended edition ( the "current" one) you get 1% until lvl 20, after that you got 5% every other lvl. The cap you can reach is 84% or 89% ( i don't remember), but with other in-game bonuses you could esaily reach 100% (= spell immunity). The spell fail on hit was also displayed like 10%, but in reality it was 25% per hit, and stackable. So after 4 hits you had disable completely a spellcaster. Very good pretty soon if you used darts (3 base attack per round + warrior bonus attacks) or dual wield with a fast weapon). Very good later also with 2 handers or single hand weapon + whirlwind ( 10 attacks per round). Aaand when i say "hit" i mean that you didn't really need to do dmg, as the ability worked trogh stoneskin and other common arcane protection. So surely you are not sorceror or inquisitor, but if played right it is very strong nontheless. And for solo: play half orc with max might and you can bash basically every lock in the game, or go dwarf for +4 to saving throws ( more useful) - bg2 nerd mode off-
  11. Morning star is my fav weapon type in deadfire. Cool modal, 2hander, 2 dmg type, look badass. The problem is there is only 1 good unique (aru sichr is terrible)
  12. I like mage slayer too. Yes, the magic resistance could grow up with lvl, but is good even this way. Maybe they could let him at least drink healing potion or use poisons. Actually healing is the only real problem that the mage slayer have, you have to realy on one per encounter second wind or your mid lvl auto heal ( nothing spectacular). The better way i found to play it is multiclass with a kind wayfarer, so every fod you heal for a good chunk, no spells involved.
  13. No you are wrong. At lvl 20 pure monks get +80% dmg + related boni to acc & pen, every other multiclass or singleclass ( monk multiclass or other classes multiclass or other class singleclass) top at 50% dmg + related boni. Maybe is is somewhat related to character lvl instead of power lvl, i'm not sure. Still less than a legendary enchantment, that's true. But consider that you are using anyway a weapon that hit fast as a fast one hand but have the dmg of a slow one hand. The intersting thing is that enanching power lvl gives you better bonuses. drink a potion of ascension (+2 pwl) gives you +15% dmg, +4 acc, +1 pen. If you are multiclass and one class is rogue, you even get +5% per pwl sneak attack dmg. Actually if you are a rogue even +25% to your dmg is not so strong,( since you can already stack up to +300-400% dmg boni), but for unarmed warriors, rangers, paladins, barbarians can be interesting to know
  14. Btw the upgraded "monk fist for everyone" is a thing i like a lot. If you take the talent, your fist base dmg become the same as the monk. The progression is a bit behind anyway. At max lvl: monk get +80% dmg, monk multiclass OR non monk ( multiclass or singleclass) get +50%. Is like they are 2 power lvl behind. You can stll boost the dmg increasing your power level. Every power lvl gives you +7,5% dmg, +2 accuracy, +0,5 pen, if memory serves me right ( i tested it at home and i haven't my notes with me atm) And fists are actually a very good weapon: are fast but with the dmg of a slow 1h. Basically you get awesome dps at the cost of no special property. But i can guarantee to you that unarmed swashbuckler, marauder or shadow dancer are all very strong. Also single class barb or ranger.
  15. Back to the "best dps question": For having high dps you need a combination of - accuracy - dmg modifiers - speed - aoe dmg ( casters) Different classes can give huge bonus to one or more department, combine 2 different kind of boost (es: dmg + attack speed) gives usually better benefits than stack only one kind. Imho: - barbarian : best speed bonuses (25% frenzy, 20% passive bloodlust); good dmg bonuses - rogue : better dmg boosts ( up to 300%-400% woth streetfighter), a lot of full attacks [ripose, various strikes] (kind of speed bonus) - warrior : ok dmg boost, speed bonus in form of free attacks with cleaving stance, awesome survival - paladin: moderate dmg and speed boost ( fod), awesome survival - ranger : better accuracy boost (~50 accuracy) - monk : good speed bost, a lot of "free attacks" with critical builds, good dmg boost (hellwalker), good spammable full attacks In my hands better "non broken" ( not abusing aoe weapons) combination so far are: - monk / rogue [ hellwalker/streetfighter] : between ripose, heartbeat drumming, swift strikes you can really abuse the massive dmg bonus of the rogue - barbarian / rogue [ berserk/streetfighter] : good speed bonuses, 0 recovery after a kill, terror on demand and a lot of full attacks , always abusing massove dmg booster from rogue Warrior-rogue is a bit behind in dps but very sturdy Monk ranger is good for crazy accuracy that brings a lot of "free attacks", but misses the huge dmg boost of the rogue
  16. Then you can pick monk/berserker with (Brute Force + Sickened) you lower enemy fortitude for 35, it's mean you can spam stun blow for each attack, stun blow give you additional -10 for fortitude :D More crits -> More hits :D You could also use force of anguish, but that turns game in baseball. Every hit is an home run
  17. Beautiful synergy here, I will definitely roll a sword&shield monk with this. Trickster seems to be a nice combo because the deflection and riposte, maybe paladin and ranger is good too?Monk with fist + palm shield is great. Running Xoti with this setup (and Wahaī Pōraga in second slot). No need for swords etc. The shield even has enchantments that either do +5 unarmed ACC or +10% unarmed dmg. Works for both: fist and shield. I'm playing a rogue(streetfighter) monk with max res & per , unarmed + shield. Rispose + swift flurry+ heartbeat drumming is awesome. And you have uber dmg boost from rogue: + 50% deathblows, +65% sneak attack, +50% from heating up, +20% raw lash (deep wounds). You can go trikster for better def, but you will lose some dmg .
  18. Svef or some foods ( es captain banquet) make you immune/resistant to int affliction. So you can achieve that for every class easily
  19. There is a list of items / option to increase the overall power lvl? Afaik: Potion of ascension : +2 pwl Talent: prestige : +1 pwl Nature godlike racial : +1 pwl if buffed Acute or better inspiration : +1 pwl Story talent woedica : +1 pwl if you gave souls to woedica in poe1. Not sure this is actually working. Rest bonuses? Other options?
  20. @boeroer: thks for the extensive reply @maxquest: i think the answer is no, but have not tested it. Btw now i want to build a pugilist priest of woedica...
