  1. I have it bound to my paladin. The next upgrade step is "Be revived during combat 5 times to unlock the next level." How is this supposed to work? First thing is, my paladin never GETS knocked out. Second thing is, if she's knocked out, who's supposed to revive her? I'm sure I'm horribly confused, so if someone could un-confuse me, I'd really appreciate it....
  2. I see assassins just about every time I move from one DB district to another, if it's night.
  3. Oh my lord.... I'm nearly 70, and even I know better than that! *goes off for wine, laughing hysterically*
  4. I.... don't know. A "turn" back when I was running tabletop AD&D, I defined as one day of game time. That was a VERY long time ago (mid 70s) and the game itself has changed all out of recognition. I actually have no idea what a turn is in this game.
  5. Truthfully, I haven't run into any bugs at all. Then again, I don't push the game or get into edge cases. I made my pally belong to St Elecga. That one fits my "personal world view" better than the others. Had that not been an option for some reason, I'd have gone with the Kind Wayfarers (I should I suppose mention here that I am a "carebear" period - I never play anything that's remotely "dodgy" and I certainly never play anything even a bit shady; as for actively evil? Bite your tongue!) In any case, I haven't yet run into reason to wish I'd gone with a different order.
  6. Yeah. I think that person didn't have a very coherent grasp of the game, not to mention wiz mechanics. That's the trouble with stuff like that - a tiny bit of it's good, MOST of it's bad, the rest is either mediocre or totally off base for whatever reason.
  7. Boy, you said a mouthful. Lots of times, my wiz has literally blown a mob apart before the rest of the group gets their stuff together. And these aren't low level to the group either.... in fact, I'm taking on the fampyres in the Endless Paths probably a couple of levels early and having no problems. Saw a post somewhere about an all-wizard group. Good LORD. That wouldn't be any fun at all, because nothing would last long enough to count!
  8. I have 2.0.1 but no draining ability showing anywhere (description, Character sheet, combat logs) had a CTD today too - only second one ever in POE - I reinstalled 2.0.1 last week due to the pink problem maybe my install is corrupted. Here's a screenie of my Gaun's Share (2.01, steam): The drain is shown as "20% of Damage restored as Endurance" in case it doesn't pop large enough to really see.
  9. I'm running it on a 6 + year old Systemax from tigerdirect: AMD Phenom II 945 3ghz 16 gig RAM win7 ult 64 bit NVIDIA GTX 460 SE gpu (1 gig RAM I think? not sure now) Runs everything at maxed graphics. The load time's a bit wack - but it helps if you move saves you probably won't need to some other folder. I tend to save a LOT - so when I'm done for the day, I just move everything but the autosaves and the last named save to a storage folder on another drive.
  10. And Salvatore didn't spoof Tolkien? You know, Moria and the huge doors scribed in ithildin.... I'm not going through your bullet points - but really, Tolkien was there first in THAT century - of course, even he used long-known tropes.
  11. Yep, I get this after a few hours in game. It's not game-breaking; if you want to accept you click to the left, if you want to cancel click to the right. Sometimes you'll get a second screen in some situations where you'd normally see "Continue" - in that case, click in the middle.
  12. My sister and I tried that one first. Steam does make it impossible. Since I had steam already, I opted for the steam version instead of gog - obviously the wrong move! But now of course, I don't want to go back and have to re-download everything just to move to gog from steam. I'll know for the next game I guess! And thanks for the info, at least from your post it seems as if what I do with rift and did for years with wow - that is having family copy huge stuff to stick and ship to me - also would work with gog. I can probably get my daughter or sister to get gog downloads for me in future with other games. I appreciate the help!
  13. Couldn't you go back to the save just before leveling up to redo that selection?
  14. Actually it was something from outside, below ground that invaded them that was at least 2x as big as the biggest ogres. When you read desc of their steel soldiers you see they were ripped apart like toys Ah.... Hmm. I'll have to reread all that on this next play through. Well, in any case, yes, opening the White Forge seems to be "the end" of part one, and when part two lands, I guess we'll find out something about the rest of it. Hopefully. AFAIK, OBS hasn't said anything much about it yet? I don't know if there are other places to get info from the devs; the forum's the only place I spend any time.
  15. Open the enchant interface - it should show what you can add to that item.
  16. Well, there's a part 2 coming out - perhaps during the winter. But yes, I think with the opening of the Forge and your ability to use it with the Durgan ingots, that's it for now. You can go back to the village and Rhenegild plus some of the villagers will fall all over you, but I think "that's all folks". And I don't have any idea whether the second part will further explain the dwarven issue or not - I *think* I understood that the dwarves had constructed their own version of "animats" or "forge knights" and that something caused them to turn on the dwarves (perhaps the fussing between the three main dwarves over selling to merchants?). I could be wrong about that - it could have been a misreading on my part.
  17. That's why I did it at level 9 and 11. It was doable, but very tough. The loot however is totally worth the effort. There's loads of superb equipment they drop. I considered it - but then you run out of xp "room" before you finish the main quest line and/or White March. Hmm. I wonder if WM 2 adds a couple more levels, like WM 1 did.
  18. It's an 80 mile round trip to the nearest free wifi - and the options there aren't "fast". There's one 'net cafe - but it's a hang-out for "the wrong element", and while you don't take your life in your hands in his shop, you MIGHT take your laptop's life in those hands. I have a laptop, fairly new though not "hefty" enough to run games; tried to download ME 3 one day at the dentist's office, we were there a couple of hours, and of 3 gig or so, it had actually downloaded about 500 mb. Really slow, and most of what's available (like at the bank, the car dealership) is just like that, and from the same provider (pretty much only one of them). My wild blue is a LOT faster than that. We used to take the trailer and go various places, RV parks have GREAT wifi generally, not to mention I could set it up to dl overnight, on someone ELSE'S bandwidth. But husband's really not safe driving any more, and since he's really weird about ME doing the driving with the trailer (regardless that I'm better at it than he ever was!) I don't really have that option either. However, just this morning, I discovered that I do have an option I wasn't aware of. I called wild blue about something else, and while talking to the tech, he "reminded" me (when I was complaining a bit about limited bw) that I'd never used my "reset".... Didn't know anything about it, apparently they "forgot" to tell me.... If I go over 80% of the allowable, I call them and they reset my limit to zero. Which I can do twice a year.... Would have been REALLY nice if they'd told me!
  19. I haven't done it yet (though I probably will have to at some point, just to get the hidden Durgan bars). I went there with my level 14 party, tried to talk my way through, didn't work. Left, and thought I'd try sneaking my way around to see if there was some other way to handle this. Found the cave, got through it (hard fight too....) and then found out there wasn't any way to open the damn "door" - that was before I did any reading around about all this, which of course would have saved me the bother. Reloaded a save prior, and just won't mess with it. I don't WANT a "high level" setup best done at level 14 (which means no xp for it at all) that's nothing but merc killing. If they ever show up at Caed Nua, I'll deal with it then. What I want is other ways to handle things, like "peacefully", "diplomatically", or "sneakily".
  20. What I mean are updates for those that are using the DVD versions of the game The updates are attained through our website here. Once the 2.01 update is finished it will be placed in this location. Well, I tried to use the dvd version I bought from amazon, and had to install and patch through steam anyway - VERY annoying. So now I'm micromanaging bandwidth. Boxed versions and patches on physical media made my online life so much simpler.... but thanks for the answer. The retail DVD was only a Steam installer (not something I would have done but I guess Obs/Paradox had their reasons) - the DVD patches on site are for the kickstarter DVD backers who got the full base-game on DVD. So yeah, you're stuck with Steam I wouldn't mind - except that I only get 12gig on a rolling 30 days (not related to my billing cycle - or any other "benchmark" so I don't really have much control). This is becoming a huge problem for me. I'm aware I'm part of a vanishingly small minority in the gaming world - someone who lives so far out that other than wild blue I have nothing except dialup. Then again, I live somewhere with the cleanest air and water in this section of the country, my power bill is miniscule, and there's no crime. *shrug* Too bad that the phone company can't be bothered to upgrade our 50+ year old copper analog lines to fiber.... Not going to happen in what's left of my lifetime, for a hundred full time phones.... But since the one thing I call my hobby - playing CRPGs - is beginning to require a much more "modern" connection, it's probable that it won't be much longer before my hobby isn't available to me. Sucks.... but it is what it is. I still won't go back to wow - but I can play rift I guess. I do very much enjoy this game, but if it gets to the point where patches, updates, expansions or whatever use too much bandwidth, I'll have to quit playing this sort of game. *Nostalgia* Used to be that SPMR games really were "machine resident". Now.... not so much.
  21. Because the polling applet requires an answer in each section....
  22. I never play human protagonists since I AM one (sometimes....) if it's a solo game, and almost always ranger-types. Always elf or another "other" race. If I have a custom party, it'll be a mix similar to elf ranger/human paladin/orlan rogue/elf wizard/aumaua fighter/dwarf or human barbarian.
