The Dozen's Thugs
Oralaina replied to AnjyBelle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah. I don't ever give him the armor. He's a.... um.... well the forum won't let me say that.... but yeah. Kill the SoB, he's not worth the air he breathes. -
Well, I don't ever mess with the premades..... but still - it's perfectly logical that someone else would know about him. Seriously, this guy has perverted the souls of bajillions of people - it's not at all unlikely that you would meet others who have experience of such a.... um.... I actually don't think I know a word that bad.... [....and by that you may rightly assume that I personally don't consider this a bug....]

The Dozen's Thugs
Oralaina replied to AnjyBelle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Eh, I just snicker at the arrogant pompous peapecker bums, and go on about my business. Y'know, anyone who needs to strut like that can't be much anyway. [Oh for - jeezus.... there's worse than that in the game for chrissakes! Referring to the words that required editing....] -
You can access the AI setup on each character and turn off everything; then you can access the autopause setup and turn off everything but say, combat start. Then you can actually just do the three things you say you want, by doing those three things. Now, that would drive me personally bats, but you can certainly do that right now without needing a mod or reprogramming.

Salty Mast scenes fade to black?
Oralaina replied to luzarius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Heh. It can do that BECAUSE it's undead, of course! If it were a live kitty, you'd have to feed it, and keep it safe in your pack during battle, etc. -
Well.... actually, the OP didn't at all address anything but wanting a mod for enchanting, Didn't mention overwriting at all.... Now, I'd LOVE to have an overwrite similar to how you can "add" superb/exceptional to a fine enchant and not have to use more than the difference between fine and whichever of the others you're applying. But that's not what this thread was about to begin with.

So, 'nother question: if you don't pray at any altar but Hylea's do you still wind up with all the other god quests? I REALLY don't appreciate being put in the position of killing my way through Twin Elms' temples.... If you can just get the one god quest by using only the one altar, I'll go back to a save before that and redo the whole thing....

Durgan Iron Ingots
Oralaina replied to RocketChaser's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Which post are you referring to? I could only see the one that counts to 21. That said, 21 makes the most sense imho. If you don't bind souls to the forge, it takes three ingots to get a piece of Durgan ore so it makes sense that the total number of ingots is divisible by 3. I can't add. No surprise there! Yep, 21. -
Idiot's Guide to RTwP?
Oralaina replied to Skirge01's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I really prefer real TB games (I think....) but by now I'm so used to RT combat in MMOs that this conglomerate works okay for me. In fact, I did set it up with all the available pause options to begin with, but very shortly discovered that I had to stop that back to just a few: enemy sighted; combat start; party member death (which also happens on things like spawned blights etc. from the druid, which I'd rather do without but guess there's no way to be that picky....) plus judicious use of the space bar. I hated the autopause on fixed interval, personally - it was, for me, counterintuitive. This is the first game of this type I've played in.... well, a very long time. I played TES games (Arena, Morrowind, Oblivion) after the TB games from SSI et al. Started playing WoW while waiting for Skyrim, and while I did play Skyrim (and still do), I spent 8 years in WoW, and have spent another 1.5 years with Rift. So this game is "new" to me from that angle too. -
I don't see the enchanting as being a problem. It doesn't take up a lot of time, it's easy, it doesn't take a lot of mats. Most of the mats are available in the wild - or once you repair the curio shop, from the shopkeeper (and the Treasury Chest). Toward the end of my first playthrough (the one that's done except for the final battle - waiting on WM 2 before I finish it), the curio shop even had a couple of "end game" items - a sky dragon eye, and being me, can't remember the other one now *shrug*. I love finding "fancy loot" - and the most I do with the enchant system is boost stuff to exceptional or superb if there's room and I have the mats. And to the OP, when it comes to the kind of mod you're looking for, you'd have to see if you could hook up with this game's modding community - you can find some mods on nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity. You could maybe talk to the IE Mod people in their threads here, too. They'd be the most likely ones to chat with about it probably.

Durgan Iron Ingots
Oralaina replied to RocketChaser's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Huh, that's odd. Not sure what it did there, since it's not "there" at all. Well, you did find it anyway, sorry about that! -
Dragon Hate
Oralaina replied to AnjyBelle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, there was a game, WAY back when.... You could befriend the dragon (and she had a mouth-filling nominative for sure - wish I could remember what it was!) Now, befriending her wasn't (IIRC, and it's been a LONG time) all it was cracked up to be.... You know, I want to say it was in BG 2, but jeez, that was a LONG time ago, so I'm not positive. Okay, off to do some research.... -
Lock picking
Oralaina replied to chuff80's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It's generally shown on the locked item itself. You'll see a panel of info: Mechanics 3 1 lockpick Mechanics 2 2 lockpicks Mechanics 1 3 lockpicks or something like that - it appears to take into account the highest mechanics in the group. When I get into somewhere that my rogue can't unlock things with some lockpicks added, I go back to Caed Nua and do a level or so.... -
Amnesiac shopkeeper
Oralaina replied to tinysalamander's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, yeah.... generic voice-overs are.... generic. Most of Caed Nua's people recognize me as "Lady" - but the Curio Shopkeeper always uses "Lord". For me it's not immersion-breaking, but some people might have issues with it, yeah. -
Durgan Iron Ingots
Oralaina replied to RocketChaser's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
There are actually 21. I have that many on my complete (except for end game and WM 2) playthrough. There's a post somewhere around here with the list of where they're found. And no, kungfujoe, they aren't all in the Battery.... Let me see if I can find the post with the list, and edit with the link. Okay, here you go - and from one post in there (pi2repsion's) it looks like there may be actually 23.... -
I like your idea, but how about going one further, and with for no expansions, but a PoE 3 etc... OR even better yet, a series of mutually independent games each telling their own story using the same engine, like SSI's old Gold Box games did, rather than trying to expand on existing storylines and changing a story that already works by bolting on DLC. (Yeah, right. Not going to happen. But a man can dream.) I'd LOVE that. The SSI Gold Box games were my first adventure in CRPGs. LOVED them. If I could figure out how to play them today, I would. DosBox supposedly slows machines down enough to play stuff like that, but I've never been able to get it to work.... *sigh* On topic, I'm perfectly happy with it ending with WM 2, and going on to PoE 2 afterward.

Soulbound weapons.. SPOILERS!
Oralaina replied to maglalosus's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I have Stormcaller on my ranger (who is a fast weapons and wolf pet sort of girl) and it works very well. I'm historically NOT happy with guns in games like this, and the fact that they went out of the way to make them slow and clunky (not saying their real world versions weren't - they were) makes it even worse for me. So it's bows all the way - and when I finally do find an exceptional arbalest (also slow and clunky - again, not that they weren't IRL) it usually goes to the druid who's supposed to be in the back line and sometimes she even stays there.... -
stuck in Durgan Mines --

Heh. I stumble through the first time.... THEN I find a walkthrough so I don't miss anything for the rest of the playthroughs! -
Taunts are needed
Oralaina replied to sapientNode's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I have issues with the whole "disengagement" setup. Really guys.... in a mass battle in the real world (a la warfare in the German republics in the 12 century) NO ONE knew who was beating on whom. So if you could manage to pull someone else in front of you (or even just duck or fall), you could quite handily move out of "engagement" - and with several hundred people all beating on whoever was the nearest target, you were okay for a minute. More or less. So this whole mechanic of "disengagement" is pretty much bullcorn. I had to laugh at sapientNode's paragraph about plate and Aloth, though.... Not in a mean way - but.... There was a German princeling back in the 15th century or so. His sword and plate mail are still standing around in a castle near Stuttgart, saw them myself back when my second grandchild was born and we were there for a month. He was shorter than I am (so about 5 feet 5 inches) by looking at his suit of mail. His sword was about as tall as my husband - so around 6 feet or so. Now admittedly there weren't photos back then, but drawings were pretty veracious I think - whoever produced them did NOT show the prince in a real good light: he was short, very muscled, but.... um.... entirely unprepossessing. Somehow, he got hoisted onto his horse to get out to the battlefield in full plate (articulated, but NOT light - the full suit according to the plaque beside it weighed 200 + pounds) and once on the battlefield, he'd of course get unhorsed at some point - and THEN he'd be swinging a sword taller than he was by a foot or so, and wearing 200 pounds of metal. Sure, we're playing a game to have fun. But you know, sometimes it pays to look at the background of battle mechanics. Unless Aloth used a feather spell on a suit of plate mail, there's just no way he'd be able to walk. Period. Suspension of disbelief? Not happening on that one.
