  1. I agree completely. PoE really could've benefitted from taking either (a) DA:O's route of constantly reminding you that the main character is cursed, or (b) KotOR2's approach of giving you a protagonist who was keeping secrets from the player. I've used that particular ploy in my own "mental gymnastics" I do with games like this. Where yeah, I'm the player, but I know that the protagonist is hiding something - and I don't know what it is until the last dog is dead. At that point (for instance way back when I finished BG1) the main character writes the end of her story for me even though I'm the active principal in gameplay. I have one of those hinky imaginations that always prefers its own machinations to those of the devs as storytellers, so it works for me (better than the clichéd "child of a god" thing did in BG1 for sure). I'm not sure yet how it's going to play out with this game - because I haven't finished it yet. I won't go back to finish the MQ until I play WM 2 - and dollars to doughnuts, I'll start a new game at that point.
  2. Yeah.... that sucker was one hellaciously difficult battle. I bet it took me 50 tries to get through it.... fun, but jeez louise. Good thing I was retired the first time when I started playing that game - because when I was in the middle of trying to beat it, I not only hardly came up for air, I didn't do normal stuff like make dinner.... and a good thing husband was okay with that! I think it's probably about half and half less challenge and more sanity.
  3. Very true, hadn't thought of it like that!
  4. I *think* the tooltips don't really give all the info one needs (perhaps by design?) I have Stormcaller on my elf ranger. Getting the 250 dmg using shock was a piece of cake. However, getting 25 kills for the next level (or 5 kith druids - but jeez, I already KILLED all the druids.... *sigh* - guess I'll know for next time....) is - interesting. I got 10/25 finishing the White Forge. And I actually have no clue which kills went toward that total. There ARE no kith down there - only spirits, wraiths, spectres, shades. So what I got those kill ticks for? No clue. It's okay with me - I don't have any real reason to hurry through this (because I'm max level now so don't get any more xp.... Oh well, yeah, I do get the xp, but I know it's not being retained....) but I do think that some things should be more clear about this process. Anyway, it's interesting, if not easily parsed - which drives my nitnoidy completionist soul seriously NUTS.
  5. I had PoE 1.06 whatever, and just installed WM 2.01 from steam. Seems to be fine.... I didn't do anything "unusual"....
  6. Oh. Well, jeez. No wonder I have 200k pand and nowhere to spend it.... Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to think I should just pm you my questions, as obviously you know all the answers! Edit
  7. where does it go when you pick it up? I can't find it, so I can't give the actual names, but it's the adra "coins" and durgan gear "coins". Are they useful anywhere, and as I asked, WHERE are they anyway?
  8. Yyyyyyep. So after you clear the second half of White March, feel free to fling yourself into that Pit as many times as you like. Thanks, that's good to know - I appreciate the info, guys!
  9. What I mean are updates for those that are using the DVD versions of the game The updates are attained through our website here. Once the 2.01 update is finished it will be placed in this location. Well, I tried to use the dvd version I bought from amazon, and had to install and patch through steam anyway - VERY annoying. So now I'm micromanaging bandwidth. Boxed versions and patches on physical media made my online life so much simpler.... but thanks for the answer.
  10. This is what I was thinking. Rauatai and the Deadfire area. Lots of gunpowder, pirates, ships and high seas! Would love to see sailing incorporated with fishing and sea monsters. A pirate theme I guess, like they did with the Neverwinter Nights DLC Pirates of the Sword Coast. I'd like to see the Republics as well, but it's reminding me of Val Royeaux with the big city and politics. Just did that with DAI. I like pirates. But the more I read and look into the Deadfire Archipelago the more I realise it is NOT a pirate setting: the biggest "nation" there is apparently Nausitaaq, Sagani's people, who are clearly not pirates. Rauatai seems more China than pirate, Vailian Republics I realise is the nation most likely to have privateers and 'gentlemen of fortune'. I see Rauatai as more like the South Pacific cultures before the Europeans arrived. At least that's how it comes across to me. I'm not sure I've run across anything yet which would remind me of Oriental cultures at all.
  11. Ah..... I was wondering how things were getting bound wrong/unbound. Okay, thanks, I'll have to be more careful until they fix this.
  12. You just made what amounts to a single gameplay suggestion. Care to reformat and add 2 more? Well, it's not really a single suggestion. If you get rid of the pets, that's one thing (please don't, devs...) If you make the pet optional, that's a totally different thing that will need tweaks to various aspects of ranger gameplay and management.
  13. The problem is, I can't produce a save with what is happening. I can only point out, that it is indeed happening. I wouldn't even know how to get a save when it's occuring in the midst of combat. Can't you pause the game and save in the middle of combat? I've done that - but maybe if you're on something higher than normal it doesn't work?
  14. Oh. *shrug* I don't have any suggestions, because the game plays fine for me without me needing to mess with anything much. I guess the only thing I think would be better (for me personally) would be if the devs didn't waste so much time on silly party-joinable npcs. Hate 'em, won't use 'em, spend that dev time on more areas for gameplay I guess.
  15. 1. No opinion. 2. I've never had to do that. In fact, I've marked places on a map I keep locally where there are supplies I couldn't pick up since I had no room. Generally I don't go back to get them though - I just go back to Caed Nua. 3. I don't play wizards. So again, no opinion. I don't use the premade NPCs. I use a party of my own custom girls. I set them up the way I want them. I haven't had any gameplay issues at all with this game, so I don't have anything to add here.
  16. Space pig is cute (so is the lagufaeth baby - and the mini-animat.... well they all are actually!) but I still prefer the black kitty from Raedric's idiot of an animancer. Regardless my prefs, though, thanks! I would have been happy to have contributed through the KS campaign, but I didn't know anything about it - my sis did but she didn't bother to tell me.... Oh, and btw, kudos for getting a pet interface RIGHT! Lot of games out there that could take lessons.
  17. I'd like to see a full world map too - but anywhere WITHOUT pirates would be fine with me.
  18. I've stopped the MQ entirely until all the xpacs are out - I've got WM, which is being fun for sure; I'll just wait until part 2 lands, and then see what they're planning. I don't have any problem with waiting - for YEARS if necessary - before "beating" the game. One thing I am finding though - there's not enough "level room". I'm sort of a completionist for stuff like side quests, and doing all of that means that I've got one toon who's sitting at level 12 not even starting act 3, waiting for me to finish WM on the second toon - who's halfway from 13 to 14 and hasn't even started Durgan's Battery. So unless they've made some provision for "saving up" xp you can't access after you've hit level cap.... well, this toon's going to hit 14 and sit while I go back to Etolia and get those two levels. And then.... I guess I'll level some more toons.... But really, the levels available need to be expanded, or the xp available needs to get limited.
  19. I don't have the issue either - and I don't have a SSD. In fact.... this is a 6+ year old machine with an antique NVIDIA gpu: AMD Phenom II X7 945 @ 300 GHz 16 gb RAM win 7 ult 64 bit NVIDIA GTX 460 SE (1 gb ram maybe? not sure now) The only time I checked the FPS, it was in the neighborhood of 70. I don't get slowdowns, spikes, or graphics anomalies. Of course, I seem to be the only person who plays rift who doesn't have fps and graphics issues either. *shrug* I never have bugs in games. I'm probably the only person in the world who played Undermountain unpatched and never had a problem. So take it for what it's worth. I'm going to have to buy a new machine this month (because this one's starting to make a lot of weird noises, and the last time I had one do that it went up in smoke shortly thereafter - literally - which does tend to get your attention....) and what I figure is that once I have a new "beast" machine, nothing will run as well as it does now. I'll let you know if I'm wrong.
  20. I was wondering that too. I *thought* I had them all.... didn't notice anything "special" - I had the amulet, gloves, and boots, but maybe there were other bits I didn't somehow run across?
  21. I went back to Cilant Lís to get rid of the skuldr meat to the xaurip, so it wasn't in my quest items pane. I didn't lose anything....
  22. It's my neatnik soul again.... I don't need copper so I don't sell "good stuff" (anything better than "fine" and/or enchanted) - but I hate to carry it around all the time. I realize there's no "need" to stash stuff I don't want right now, but might eventually - *shrug* - there just seem to be things that I've done one way for so long (for instance, banking or leaving in safe containers items I might want "later" - I've been playing CRPGs since 1985) I guess I'm too set in those ways to change. I can be flexible about technology no matter how old I am, but apparently I can't include how I micromanage games in that flexibility! Hey, at least I'm smart enough to ask before leaving things somewhere....
  23. Are there any "safe containers" in the Stronghold? I couldn't find any information about it using search. Oh, and where will I find an .ini or.cfg file for PoE? I'm using windows, haven't been able to find anything of that nature so far....
  24. This is a man who was absolutely under no circumstances using the internet in the 90s *rolls eyes* I'm female, and yes I've been using the 'net since the '90s. I have extremely limited bandwidth because I live in the back of beyond, and satband is my only connect available. Please just take your silly assumptions back to high school where they belong. JEEZUS. Yeah, I tried that - and the results were "marginally" better. Truthfully.... google does a better job.
