CREW COMPANIONS/FRIENDS?
Boeroer replied to Leeuwenhart's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Hm... since Konstanten's name already go misspelled I guess it's all just some bad joke. Calisca is supposed to be very dead. Durance was never mentioned to be part of Deadfire, Worthless Idiot is a nice idea but I doubt that this will be a final name. Also there are sidekicks - which are not companions. And also: all official companions and sidekicks are known by now. Seems like somebody had fun with throwing a bunch of stuff onto that page. On the other hand: this could have been pulled out of the beta code - and it's possible that some temporary companions (only available for a single quest for example) are not finalized yet which would explain some of the silly names. Could also just be ship's crew members. This would also explain why there are old and dead companions from PoE: maybe there will be some flashbacks where they need the companions from PoE and that's why they are in the game code.

Deadfire DLC items from v3.07?
Well, there are some other items with +12 to a single defense, like Cape of the Master Mystic (+12 deflection), Munacra Arret (+12 to Will) or even +18 (Father's Teeth, fortitude). Those have all additional enchantment besides the defense buff. So it would have been totally fair to give those uniforms +12 in a single defense. But +20 was def. too much. Also because you could get the stuff so early and easily now via merchant (would have been different if you could only get those after a tough fight) and it kinda broke the game a bit.

Encampment Slaughter Challenge
By the way: the only reasons for me to slaughter the caravan is when I play a Bleak Walker (and maybe Skaen Priest - can't recall if you also get an aggressive reputation point or only cruel) as MC. Just because the reputation gain is quite impressive so early in the game and it has a direct impact on your character (mechanically). And of course it fits so well with the lore/background of those two classes/subclasses. Unfortunately I found that with a Bleak Walker or Priest it's espially hard for me to achieve this. Mainly because I have a certain build in mind (and I don't like repeccing too much) that doesn't fit too well with the best strategy to successfully slaughter the caravan (like using reach weapons and stuff). And with the classes I can do it fairly easily (monk and wizard and so on) I don't feel the need of doing this in the first place.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers
Boeroer replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well I shut down my computer over night, but when I'm going to the grocery store or sth. like that then I don't. So that's def. not 100% pure game time. I played PoE quite a lot though. Took parental leave twice since PoE came out...

Strange behavior of Cleave, Swift Flurry, Blast and Citzal's Lance
I still don't get why they changed the Lance and Blast to work like PoE's Carnage. Especially because they changed PoE's Carnage in Deadfire to avoid such things. Also: prevent Swift Flurry's and Cleave Stance's additional attacks to trigger themselves. Also prevent Swift Flurry attacks to trigger Cleave Stance and vice versa. You simply need a flag for every attack, like "isBonus" if it's from Swift Flurry or Cleave Stance and then do a simple "if (attack->isBonus) {//no no execute this attack}" or whatever. Should be simple.

Disengagement attacks no longer triggering when terrified enemies disengage?
Maybe because Unbroken/Wizard was too powerful. That combo was quite cheesy.

Deadfire FAILING
Boeroer replied to SonicMage117's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)A Dark Souls player amongst PoE?… ☺ More like a FTL-on-hard-mode player.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers
Boeroer replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Sure, why not. I said it - so here we go. Just let's clarify that I said: That may get interpreted differently.

Let's gather feedback for AI customization here
Very good suggestions. Please do that. Especially the automatic weapon switching would be nice. Would be even nicer if it could have special if-clauses like "if enemy is vulnerable to pierce, switch to an according weapon" (if there's one in my weapons sets). Or "If my gun is empty and I'd have to realod, switch to a loaded gun instead (if there's any in my weapons sets)". THis would make the Black Jacket so much better. Because currently - let's be honest - that class is Captain Poopyshoes.

Deadfire FAILING
Boeroer replied to SonicMage117's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Nonono, lowering the difficulty is for bad players, not bad classes.

Ah ok. Well, I'm glad that this was rather easy to fix.

Saved Games Missing
This can be caused by steam if you use the cloud saving/synchronizing method. I also lost all my savegames after I bought a new computer and freshly installed steam + PoE (was also a different operating system: Ubuntu 17.04 -> Windows 10). I was expecting this though, so I made a backup of my saves. But these things can happen. I can't say what you can do to get them back. Is there some kind of history in the steam cloud? I mean if you're using steam in the first place that is...

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]
I think with Cleave it's the same problem as with Swift Flurry: ANBAs (additional, non-animated bonus attacks ) derived from Swift Flurry and Cleave should not be allowed to trigger further ANBAs. Problem solved, but still a very useful combo. I like those crit-builds. What about Citzal's Lance + Cleave? Also weird "m-m-m-monsterkill!" behavior?

Chanter Subclasses Discussion
I also think that it sounds rather good. Not for a char who stands in the fray and has bad defenses, but for any tanky char this should eliminate enemies' grazes pretty nicely, what do you think? Now without endurance/health it's basically the same as an endless healing source that does 30 points of healing per tick. If I think about it that way it sounds rather amazing. I also guess it kind of stacks (also from different chanters) like in PoE, where a dissolved shield got immediately replaced by a previously suppressed one. By the way: does Ancient Memory from different Chanters still stack? I believe it does, but I didn't test it.

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]
Arterial Strike only causes damage when the enemy moves. Did you take that into account? As long as the enemy doesn't move it does 0 raw damage. However, if you combine things like Binding Web + Arterial Strike with Blast things get interesting: enemies will try to move but are stuck, and Arterial Strike will already cause damage if you try to move (if you issue the command), even if you can't because you are stuck. However, I think it's a pretty good ability but not too powerful as long as you don't play "attack and run away" all the time.

A rework for wizard subclasses bonus
But it will get +1 ACC per char level. Fists will not. But I agree that it's much weaker than in PoE - and even there it isonly worthwhile if you cast Citzal's Martial Power first.

inconsistent accuracy display
Minoletta's Minor Missiles is indeed an auto-hit spell.

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]
The initial attack still uses STR I presume, it's only the AoE cone that uses RES. Still not very plausible - but that's the case with all AoE damage effects which are not derived from weapon damage (like carnage, Deadfire's new Blast and Deadfire's new Spirit Lance). Like Rooting Pain and any other spell-like AoE damaging effect.

[CLASS BUILD] The Anvil, the most tough monk around
If you look at the build "Drake's Ambassador" you'll see a defensive Dragon Thrashed chanter. That build was not for solo play and had some roleplaying fluff so you might want to improve it on the defensive side and improve the self-healing (that build is kind of old and pre WMII,so it lacks some talents/abilities). But basically that's a blueprint for a Dragon Thrashed chanter. Also looks kind of great if you don't mind the self-laudation.

A rework for wizard subclasses bonus
Yes, something like this. Or shorter casting time of your school or whatever. Or +3 power level or... Something substantial. Not a 6-sec transformation that will leave you with -4 INT or a familiar that is of little use.

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]
They also changed it because you would be gimping yourself if you took a two hander. Full Attack was too powerful in PoE in my opinion. Also because the cone doesn't care at all about the damage of the weapon. So a slow heavy hitter was the worst choice while two fast hitting weapons were perfect. I like this change - and I'm a big fan of the PoE monk. Too bad Turning Wheel is not there anymore.
