Gun is not the same as firearm. "Gun" comes from "gonne" which is a heavy crossbow. Only later the term gun was mostly used for firearms and cannons. So using the term "gunnery" to describe a technique to reload reloading two handed ranged weapons is not that weird if you consider at what "in game" time Deadfire takes place. I guess... Same as "Gunner" from the Ranger's tree works with crossbows and firearms alike.

Damn, Rogues have such high utility in every game. And Boerer, while you are here: Are Paladin/Ranger melees (Aragorn) viable now after the patch as a DPS class? I don't want the pet, so it will be Ghostheart. Weren't they viable before? Lots of Full Attacks with very high accuracy sound viable to me. Bonus tip: FoD is an ability that has the keyword "Fire", so everything that boosts fire abilites also works with FoD. THis includes the Ring of Focused Flame (+10 ACC on top), Magran's Favor (Battle Axe, +2 to fire Power Level) and Sun and Moon (Flail, +2 to fire Power Level). +4 Power Level is a huge boost to the base damage of FoD. Combined with Scion of Flame you will do great FoD attacks with very high accuracy (crits which lead to even higher PEN) and even Spirit of Decay adds +1 PEN if you take Bleak Walker. @bombs & grenades: no idea, I never use them (except Sparkcrackers). I hardly use any consumables at all (besides drugs with Nalpasca and kith meat food with a Corpse Eater).

Chanter's Invocations don't profit from the +1 PEN and range of the Fury. And as far as I know they also don't profit from Scion of Flame etc. (because the Invocations don't have keywords like fire/freeze etc. - unless that got fixed with the latest patch). Besides that the Chanter can be used to circumvent the fact that Furies can't heal.

As you like. I just want to make sure that I include builds into the list which the authors wants to have there.

It works with all weapons, including arquebus. The weapon with the highest potential dmg per FoD attack is Firebrand (can be summoned with Belt of the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer and/or Forgemaster Gloves). Arquebuses work well, too. Basically everything that has high dmg per hit. Dual wieldig hits twice with FoD (Full Attack), so heavy one handers (like dual sabres) are good as well.

Thanks Boeroer! Would you play Streetfighter/Soulblade heavily armoured? Or try and defend yourself through some other means? Since Streetfighter can get lots of recovery bonus a bit of armor recovery penalty is not so bad. I like Caroc's Breastplate because it not only gives you more resources but also has an attack speed bonus. Together with the Helm of the Falcon (which also has Attack speed bonus) you'll look great. Add Abraham or Cutthroat Cosmo pet pet for reduced recovery penalty from armor and enchant Breastplate asap. You will still need healing. If you have a priest you should consider wearing Harbinger Robes or Miscreant's Leather (+pet) and use Barring Death's Door + Salvation of Time on the Streetfighter/Soublade. It increases the performance enormously once you drop under Bloodied.

Adra Aminat has 13 AR, my Combusting Wounds only has 10 PEN. Combusting Wounds makes short work of Animat. Adra Animat still has 13 AR. My Brand Enemy only has 11.5 PEN. Instead of 6.1 burn damage per tick it deals 3 until the Animat is dead. Both not completely useless even against high AR foes due to their special mechanics (the first increases per appliance, the second is endless). They deal less damage than against foes with lower DR of course. Anyways - if you can't penetrate then raw damage is your best option. Stuff like Arterial Strike, Toxic Strike etc. which are not connected to weapon dmg can be really great against such enemies. Also Plague of Insects etc.

The Lance didn't get nerfed. It works well for a Wizard/Soulblade. But Spirit Lance comes rather late for multiclass chars. However, the best dps build with a melee cipher is probably Streetfighter/Soulblade with the Whispers of the Endless Paths. That comes pretty early and works very well with Soul Annihilation. Stats don't matter that much (high INT is beneficial for cone size though) so you can allocate them as you like.

General rule: if you pick Full Attacks (Monk, Rogue, Fighter, Paladin and Barbarian have those) you should prefer dual wielding (if your focus is on damage dealing). And it's a beneficial to use heavier one handers in this case. Light weapons have better dps throughout the game when only looking at auto-attacks, but for the limited (per encounter use of) Full Attacks it's often better to use the heavier ones. One handed weapon usage is good for the early game but falls a bit off later on, thus few people invest in it with Single Weapon Style. Two Handed is great vs. high DR, ok with Full Attacks and good with Primary Attacks. With auto-attacks the dps is usually less than with a dual (light or heavy) weapon approach. I would stick to a style and weapon focus. In a party everybody can have a different focus: one goes soldier and two handed style, the other ruffian and two weapon style and so on.

You can do the same without talking (by the way you can't hit pause before doing the talk): put on Bounding Boots (grant Leap) or be a Barb with Leap. Stealth (out of detection range), then leap right onto the chest (you will still be stealthed), quickly hit pause and loot while that game is paused. Zero stealth skill required.

v3.0.0 Patch Notes
Boeroer replied to David Benefield's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & News
The bug that made the clones/phantoms/illusions spawn without weapons, meaning that they'd attack with their fists for very low amounts of crush damage. This has been a problem since the game launched. That was only the case for Dichotomous Soul - which got fixed with the last patch. -
Is this build finished now? I'm doing my monthly search for builds (that are not in the build list yet) and the opening post still says "unfinished".

It would be very helpful if you could edit your opening post and just add a few lines that give character (sub)class, if it's solo or not, difficulty and game version and stuff. For people like me who are using the search function to find builds. Videos are great of course, but their contents can't be searched for.
