  1. And you can't translate them because...? Rauatai Cookies would be great to do with my kids I guess. Then they can bring them over to Grandma for Christmas.
  2. As a multiclass wizard you don't need to pick a single spell at lvl-up if you carry a good selection of grimoires with you. Put everything into the other class and pick some passives if you are forced to pick a wizard ability. You can still cast all spells you want while having lots of other awesome abilities. Played a Sage like this - all the monk goodies with the spells from the wizard. Other casters need some cool trinket effect, too. I wonder why we don't see priest-only trinkets that add some spell uses or something. This can't be hard to do.
  3. Toxic Strike builds up damage with every tick. And steeply so! If you have high INT it's a death sentence for most foes (a faster death sentence than Gouging Strike). Also if you want to stack DoTs you might need it since DoTs from the same rogue ability don't stack but stuff like Gouging + Toxic + Ring the Bell do stack. Withering Strike is too expensive, Toxic Strike is not. Especially not if you can apply it in an AoE. Then it's a great damage tool.
  4. Mirrored Image stacks with Llengrath's Safeguard or Vigorous Defense. It's possible to get to 150+ Deflection with a Trickster/Fighter while using Mirrored Images and Refreshing Defense and Mob Stance (instead of Warrior Stance). With several engagement slots and Persistent Distraction and Riposte you can be a great tank who also passively debuffs 6 enemies and deals good damage. In such a setup Riposte can add good dps to your build. Arcane Knight can work as well but has less attack speed bonuses and engagement. A more risky approach but also more satisfying I tried out is to use an Arcane Knight or Battlemage with Citzal's Spirit Lance and Riposte. You might need to get Bracers and Cape of Greater Deflection. High Intimidate and that scarred Breastplate I forgot the name of is also nice. Riposte is obviously worse on PotD.
  5. I can't like D:OS. It pushes all my eww-buttons somehow. That's kind of weird since I really like the original Divine Divinity. I'm still happy that Larian has success with it. The genre needs success. I even backed DO:S2 although I suspected it's not my thing. A few hours very much confirmed that suspicion. I can't even say why. For comparison: I liked Blackguards. Blackguards over D:OS - can you believe it? Deadfire (for me and despite its flaws) is a league above D:OS.
  6. I have no typical party formation. I just don't play "main tank + squishies". One glass cannon is ok since you can manage to keep him/her alive without too much hassle. Enemies will look for certain values to decide whom they attack. For example low AR, deflection or health. If you present them a party member with low AR, low deflection and small health pool there will be a guarantee that every enemy in an encounter would like to attack Special Ed. I try to give the backline guys either a shield, powerful healing or good AR. That makes all that rushing and "escaping" to my backline somewhat manageable. Enemies are more likely to stick to my front line even though they are not engaged. Xoti as pure priest is a front liner in medium armor for me by the way. Works well enough if she's not the first to stick her head out of stealth. The "useless" Litany for the Mind gives her Concentration every 6 secs.
  7. In fact I would use Nalpasca and go for the high defense route. Especially high RES. Since your goal would be to not get hit a Nalpasca would be better for wound generation I guess. Also Helwalker seems to be rather risky. I played a Helwalker Sage in my last playthrough and while he was awesome he also got downed a lot.
  8. Hi! Would anybody be interested in trying out some of the Deafire recepies for food in real life and post the "real" recipe (maybe with a photo)? Since I have to cook every day and sometimes really struggle to come up with new ideas (that are not too fancy) I thought Deadfire's stuff like "Mariner's Porridge", "Crusted Swordfish" etc. might be fun to try. I don't want to be too finicky. For example it will be really hard to get real Swordfish and other stuff you don't want to buy - like Wale Meat and so on. And of course kith meat is off the table (pun intended). I think the first thing I'd want to try are Glazed Chops... What do you think?
  9. Yeah, coming up with an easter-egg name for an item surely tied up considerable resources during development.
  10. Heartseeker is a ranged-only ability. The "Claw" ones are melee-only iirc. Everything wipes on death by the way. A permanent bonus as an ability like the Barb has (+25% dmg to Wilder) is not that great either. Afaik nobody pick this. A flexible one is better in my opinion. It the current ability is a good way to do it I can't say because I didn't test it yet.
  11. I agree. By the way: it's futile to address Teclis23 directly. That account is put on ice and the user opened up a new one named "bigbazoopa". The Red Hand got nerfed in the meantime. Well - more like fixed, not nerfed. It's not as good anymore as it used to be (because of a bug). Still great though.
  12. Hehe - I think this is the fifth time that I read a "bug report" about this. That troll is a nasty bugger.
  13. Kind of...? Actually he's pretty close to Zahua. Life is suffering - because will/desire drives us forth even if we achieved everything, it cannot be sated. To stop the suffering you have to deny will (as principle which drives everything). But you can only do that if you really love all living things and especially know compassion and sympathy - because compassion is the true fundament of moral. Something like that iirc? Whatever. The key is how "Will" is defined here. It's a rather big thing in his philosophy. At the same time he ranted about women and Judaism (as religion). Quite common for that time, but still... Shows lack of compassion and love if you aske me.
  14. In terms of dps they are better now because OBS increased the attack speed significantly. But it's nowhere near as it was in the last iterations of PoE where its base dmg scaled with level. In Deadfire Animal Companions "only" get a scaling additive dmg bonus instead of the multiplicative one that scaling base dmg was. I never thought that they die too easily. Some of them have regeneration (Boar), higher defenses (Antelope) or higher AR (Bear) and if you don't use them as your main tank (as some players seem to try) they are fine. Of course the higer dps ones (e.g. Wolf, Lion) die sooner than the sturdier ones. If you use them as flankers you will be fine, especially if picking Resiliant Companion. Ghost Heart's summon can be used to tank because it's just 1 Bond for a rel. sturdy but disposable summon that can even have some nice talents.
  15. I just tried Dragon's Dowry with Heart Seeker: I think that's the best weapon to use that ability with. The 30% burning lash works with the "line" AoE and works beautifully with the +100% dmg bonus and the high base dmg. Without any other buff I did over 100 dmg to all dummies in a loooong line. If you like to kite your enemies into a line I think this is a pretty awesome ability/weapon combo - although very circumstancial/niche. Hand mortar's AoE doesn't work with Heart Seeker by the way and low base dmg weapons are just wasted Bond with Heart Seeker.
  16. I think that's what Faytte meant with "cheese". It is quite ridiculous. I think for solo play Paladin/Monk would be th best choice. The Damage output is not immense but respectable (Lightning Strikes + Eternal Devotion + Turning Wheel means you stack a 45% multiplicative dmg boost), the accuracy can be great (with Endurnig Dance + FoD + Ring of Searing Flames), the defenses are good and you even could make good use of Sacred Immolation without any self damage (Clarity of Agony + good RES + Lone Wolf completely removes all afflictions, including the self damage from SI). With THunderous Blows you'll get some PEN bonus. You also get the highest AR in the game when picking Goldpact Knight (use it with Sworn Rival to avoid Zeal starvation and also use stuff like Inspired Defenses and Stoic Steel - it doesn't stack with Iron Wheel). Another plus: powerful self heals and excellent kiting ability (Zealous Charge + Long Stride is very fast ). Then there's Blade Turning, AoE CC with Raised Torment... I think it's an awesome combo for soloing.
  17. If they would chance Driving Flight so that it worked with all kind of projectiles/jumps like Mind Blades and missiles and also changed the Animal Companion so that it would generate Focus for you Ranger would be everybody's darling.
  18. Yes. The biggest reason for Rage starvation is Barbaric Blow in my opinion. It's too expensive. Also the very non-granular resource costs of abilities (1, 2, 3) don't allow for fine tuning. Rogues have some abilites that are too expensive as well (but they also have one for 1 Guile which makes up for this). If we had a resource pool of 100 instead of 10 and the abilities would cost 10 or 20 or 30 instead of 1 or 2 or 3 you could tune stuff like Barbaric Blow down to 15. Atm you can't. And that leads to a situation where a Paladin with 10 Zeal can deliver 10 Eternal Devotions (or Shared Flames) while a Barb with 10 Rage can only deliver 5 Barbaric Blows. I don't think that Barbaric Blow is twice as good as FoD. Barbaric Smash (refund on kill) does work. But it is flawed on Corpse Eaters: for a Corpse Eater it costs 3 Rage but you'll only get a refund of 2. Also the refund (or 0 recovery) on kill is flawed on itself: you want to make sure that you kill. This nearly always leads to a lot of overkill which lowers the effectiveness of the ability.
  19. Yes, Stasis Shell doesn't influence DoTs. Disintegrate or Toxic Strike + Stasis Shell is basically like Finger of Instadeath (if you can land both of course).
  20. Soul Annihilation only works with melee weapons. How can people question the value of higher ACC against bosses?
  21. Summon lion behind enemy, cast Ectopsychic Echo on him. Evade-roll behind more enemies. Nice! Driving Flight should help you to build lots of focus. Use with dual hand mortars or Watershaper's Focus.
