  1. I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying how much more international the game has become in the last decade or two As far as the whole hockey/basketball thing
  2. even though nobody mentioned him, one of my favorites Dikembe Mutombo http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Xc0HALrWrXs The blocks, the voice, the finger wave, and he saved the world
  3. I like Kobe... maybe not as a person but he's got a great work ethic and drive. He is a great scorer maybe one of the greatest BUT I wouldn't put him at the same level as James. Though if James had Kobe's determination I'd probably put him above Jordan
  4. How important do you think the number of championships he wins will be to his legacy? Does he need to match or beat Jordan's 6? Kobe's 5? Russell's 11? I was discussing it with some friends and it was pretty evenly divided with those who are James fans saying it doesn't matter and those who are James critics saying that it does. Personally, I think it's a factor but not that big of one since there are so many all time greats who never got a single ring
  5. Happy Birthday Ros! A bit hungover from last night but nothing too bad. Craving something greasy and cheesy though
  6. Emily Ratajkowski
  7. Yeah, at 6'8" 250 nobody should send him flying like that unless Shaq comes out of retirement... 10 years younger. I haven't been following basketball all that closely in the past few years in part because of things like flopping. I've heard it argued that some players will flop and take the fine if it means they might win a close game but I'm really not sure what else the league can do to stop it. I would say to call a technical foul on the player that does it but the players have gotten so good at it that it's not usually caught when it happens but later when the play is reviewed (the point of it is to trick the refs after all)
  8. Muslim rulers have a decadence mechanic that they need to manage but it's specific to them and they also get to be polygamous. Unless you want to play as a Muslim you can easily pass on it. The Republic you can probably pass on too but I really like playing Republics but they are a bit overpowered. You get a family palace to upgrade and trade posts you can build and upgrade as well
  9. I think it's very possible that he does surpass Jordan I just disagree with Volo that he already has. I also just like discussing what makes one player "greater" than another. Is it championships, is it personal awards, stats, dominating your contemporaries?
  10. Not sure why I'm playing along but you are right MJ is more famous for scoring than passing and rebounding but that doesn't mean he wasn't a great all around player. His career averages for rebounds, blocks, and assists are about the same as James while scoring more points, getting more steals, and having less turnovers. I wasn't going to bring it up but it's also incorrect to argue that James and Jordan where the same age when they won therefore it took them the same amount of time. Since birth, yeah the same amount of time. Since joining the NBA though, Jordan did it a couple years sooner since he went to college and won a championship there too. Don't get me wrong I think Lebron is a great player but it's a bit premature to say that he is the greatest just yet... provided he doesn't retire and come back twice EDIT: Lebron actually won his first title at 27 in his 9th season beating MJ who didn't win until 28 in his 7th year
  11. and Lebron won without Wade and Bosh? I'm not sure what measure you are using to compare the two.
  12. It's a sandbox but there are different start dates which change things up and a lot of mods and user made scenarios out there
  13. There's a lot wrong with flopping. It's a cheap stunt and most fans and even other players don't want to see it and even the league is taking measures against it. Miami's big 3 is especially bad when it comes to flopping but I don't think it really detracts from their accomplishments. That said I think Manu Ginobili should have gotten the Finals MVP award for the Heat
  14. I would get involved, but teams from Houston generally lose. Heh. I wasn't rooting for the Spurs to win as much as I just wanted Heat fans to lose. Those people are the worst
  15. Watching game 7 of the NBA finals while drinking heavily and craving a greasy, cheesy burger I get way too involved in these things
  16. I backed some little Ghostbusters type game on the cheap I don't remember what it was called though EDIT: nevermind found it http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1184280206/ghostcontrol-inc
  17. I wish my car had jet engines
  18. So the Spurs lost and that's really ruined my night. It was only game 6 but I doubt that they can win game 7 away. A bottle of Maker's Mark is calling my name which is good because I need a drink
  19. me too and that sucks because I'll probably be in St Petersburg at the time At least I'll have it for the flight home
  20. The Spurs won game 5 last night so I'm hoping they can keep some momentum going and close out the series. They can't keep trading wins because I think that if Miami wins game 6 then they will also take game 7
