  1. It seems odd to me that Microsoft would take a portion of the Kickstarter funds. I would think they would either get an upfront fee or something on the backend or both. Maybe they are counting each copy promised in the Kickstarter as a sale or something and had to give a portion of that. Still seems weird to me but I think that I'm still skeptical of their business dealings since the whole DRM thing
  2. Hmm, I think I'll have to check out both Hard Magic and Terms of Engagement For now though still making my way through the Shadowrun Returns anthology and so far so good. I like most of the stories and they tend to fill in the background of characters from the game pretty well. That said, I tend to prefer the stories with main characters who can use magic over the rest. I guess I'm just a magic groupie
  3. Hey! That's not true I know exactly where Iraq is Here see
  4. I married the lizard on my first game and the undead on my second and I think the undead is better
  5. I've wondered about this myself Do most people even care? Origin seems to be doing well enough (dunno about Uplay) and I don't think I've ever seen more than a handful of people go "No Steam, No Sale"
  6. Thanks If we would have had more time or gone to more places then we probably would have just wandered a bit but as it was we were either with my wife's friends or family the whole time we mostly just got led around. It was still fun though just a bit more structured than I usually like my vacations and I didn't wan to complain about being smothered since my wife hadn't been "home" in about 10 years and everyone really missed her I'd have the say that the hardest part of the trip was not being able to read the signs and mostly in Russia since the alphabet is different
  7. Two encrypted email services have closed down for reasons linked to US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden Also
  8. Yeah, there are a few companies that do them, modern castles that it. Castle Magic is the only one I can think of off the top of my head though Also, sorry I haven't gotten the rest of the pictures up yet. Been sick and haven't felt up to it because it's hard work sorting, uploading, and linking photos
  9. Nevermind about Brackhaus There is a short story in the anthology with him and Harlequin that answers that
  10. Just finished Dead Man's Switch for the second time and I had to increase the difficulty level to very hard this time. I dunno if playing a non-magic user is that much easier or if I've just gotten better (pretty sure it's the former). The patches have definitely helped my experience this playthrough as I didn't encounter any bugs or issues I had the first time. Quick question Also reading the anthology that came with the game and I'm really enjoying that, I've missed SR fiction.
  11. Ginormous swords confirmed? Seriously though I just hope you can zoom out a lot further than what has been shown
  12. Thanks! Old Town Tallinn was pretty much that and I loved it
  13. The eyes look different - made out of something other than what the rest of the statue is? No idea about the eyes but I was wondering about it myself but couldn't find much info on the statue other than the name of the person who made it and that it was a really big deal when it was finally moved. It's supposedly the last fully intact Lenin statue in the Baltic states but I couldn't find any sources to that claim
  14. Up next will be St Petersburg but I probably won't get to it until tomorrow
  15. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Next up is Tallinn Pretty much all of my pictures are in and around Old Town and I apologize in advance that a couple of the pictures are very blue
  16. Yes, I love castles If I had the money I would get one built somewhere out here
  17. I don't remember what this park was called but it's just on the other side of the castle There were a couple of other really cool things in Narva that I didn't get a picture of because by that time both my camera and phone had died
  18. Just Estonia and Russia which I'm pretty sad about. I wanted to and had originally planned go to Amsterdam (for more than a layover) and Helsinki but those plans got dropped due to time EDIT: Almost forgot, more pics! and for LoF and/or oby They moved this statue of Lenin to the castle courtyard from the town square outside so nobody would vandalize it or something after the Soviet Union fell
  19. Rather than spam the picture thread I thought I would just dump some of my favorite pictures from each city here First up is Narva On the left is Ivangorod Fortress in Russia and on the right is Hermann Castle in Estonia and the bridge is the border crossing over the Narva river Another shot of Ivangorod Fortress in Ivangorod (lucky coincidence) Hermann Castle in Narva again I'll post some more photos from the courtyard and tower as soon as they all copy over to my computer

  21. Sitting in the Detroit airport thinking to myself how much nicer it is than I thought it would be and then my flight was delayed 2 hours
  22. Some of the hate I saw for her was that Hawke couldn't e-hit it To be fair I really didn't spend a lot of time reading people's opinions over on the BSN. All the threads move too fast over there and ain't nobody got time for that
  23. I thought Pacific Rim was good silly fun My wife not so much
